Why You Shouldn’t Read Pink Truth If You’re in the Pink Fog

Written by TRACY on . Posted in Culture & Manipulation

From a Mary Kay sales director to other sales directors:

Hey Ladies,

I’m not sure if everyone realizes this, but every single time we go to a negative MK site “just to see” what is going on there we increase their hits which causes their sites to come up higher on search engines.

What does that mean to us. It’s simple. Anyone who is thinking about becoming a consultant could have her dream taken from her if she decides to go online to do some research herself and happens to land on one of these sites. Now we all know that our success is this company is up to us and that we are bound by God & the company to do it the right way. We also know that there are those that haven’t done it right and we need to pray for those they hurt and for them to.

Not only can it affect your team building, it also affects your attitude about your own business. It’s hard to build an impenetrable wall around yourself of positivity. It’s even harder to keep it. Everytime we allow ourselves to read this stuff, it absolutely affects our attitude or belief, and many will start to self-doubt and that starts a downhill spiral of emotions that could kill your dream. Do you really want that for yourself or anyone else for that matter. You have to reach up to go up. Don’t take a chance even once reaching down. You cannot afford it. You become like the 5 people you hang around the most. Has one of these sites become one of your people? (Yes, unfortunately we now live in a society that internet sites see more of us than most people.)

These sites will only go away if they don’t get any hits. They relish in the fact that people go to see just out of curiosity. It always does more harm than good.

I really hurt for all those that have been misled &/or mistreated. I just know that my mission is to never make the same mistakes so as to never harm anyone in my unit.

I am also thankful for the fact that this has happened to only a very small percentage of women who have chosen the Mary Kay journey. There are more of us that are good & Godly women who really do strive to enrich women’s lives and live by the Golden Rule and Go-Give philosophy!

We all know that every decision we make should be in her best interest, not our own. So, let’s not allow theses negative sites anymore ammunition and ban ourselves from those sites. As Directors, we have an obligation to ourselves, our company, and our unit to protect ourselves, our company, and our unit. One way to do that is to stay off these sites.

You know for the first 11 years in my business, I never knew anything about these sites. Only when I joined the cc did they come to my attention. The one thing I regret is going to see for myself one day. Reading that site totally ruined my day and now looking back, I now realize it ruined more than just that one day for me. I still catch myself doubting my skill, ability, belief, etc. and am having to fight those negative thoughts even harder. Yes, it was my own choice to take a look, but I’ll never do it again. It cost me too much emotionally. I’ll stick to positive MK tapes and listening to Top Sales Directors and Nationals on how to do this business the right way. I will not be taken down any longer.

Just my 2 cents. Have a great day!

Note to Mary Kay director: Pink Truth isn’t going away.

    Talk about sad, emotional manipulation.

“We all know that every decision we make should be in her best interest, not our own.”

This whole LETTER to her unit is in her self interest!

“…it was my own choice to take a look, but I’ll never do it again.”

    Ooooohhh, yes, you will.

Actually, this type of “warning” would CAUSE me to go look at such sites and decide for myself if they are harmful.

“Bound by God” … to do it the “right” way? Really? Somehow, I doubt God approves of frontloading product to others to increase one’s own commission checks. And don’t even get me started on her grouping God and “the company” together. The things these people tell themselves are downright scary.

This is cult-type thinking at it’s finest. Even God, himself, gave us freedom of choice. These greedy, manipulative people are desperate to not let the truth reach the masses. It only tells me how much damage the truth does to their bottom line.

As far as reaching “up” to “top” directors and nationals for indoctrination, does Tracy really have to show any more facts and figures as to how few of these “higher ups” are making “excutive” income?

    SMH.

I can not believe that someone would use guilt and God. I am appalled……I was told to stop reading (and this was when i was just reading the MaryKayInTouch website)……quit reading and researching and just get out there and see faces. It’s terrible. I sent my product back s this in their life….it reminds me of Hitler and how he brainwashed his followers.

Also, the reason reading this site was affecting this director so much is that critical thinking has a way of counteracting brainwashing dogma. If she hadn’t realized the truth of the words, she would not have been affected. As soon as people start talking about limiting information needed to make an informed decision, you know you’re dealing with a cult that is up to no good.

She is talking about creating and defending the shared delusion of success with the rest of the Mary Kay faithful.

It’s hard to build an impenetrable wall around yourself of positivity. It’s even harder to keep it.

Because that damned reality keeps chipping away at their dreams.

Facts have a way of doing that, unless your “wall of positivity” is so thick it’s reaching the level of delusional.

Wait, “bound by God and the company. . . ” What the heck is THAT supposed to mean??? Who or what *BOUND* these women to “God and the company”? OMG, why in the world does that bother me so much? That is bothering me so badly as to make my stomach swirl. . . please, can someone help me flesh that out?

“Anyone who is thinking about becoming a consultant could have her dream taken from her if she decides to go online to do some research herself and happens to land on one of these sites.”

This is exceptionally dangerous, cultish, and ungodly thinking. This director is saying that the dream/passion of the consultant – which could be something God has put in their heart from Day One, such as teaching special-needs children, painting murals, staying home with one’s children, owning a vehicle repair shop, you name it – will be DESTROYED if she researches further into the company.

Now here’s my Big Point, and something EVERY LAST WOMAN IN MARY KAY needs to consider carefully: WHY are these Mary Kay leaders preaching the OPPOSITE of what Jesus taught if they’re supposedly all about God being first in their businesses?

Consider all the examples in the Bible that show the reader that questions are welcome and encouraged:

    1. Isaiah 1:18 “Come, let us reason together!”
    2. John 3:3-10, Nicodemus questions Jesus.
    3. Luke 7:20, two disciples of John ask Jesus if He is “the one who is to come.”
    4. Luke 14:28, which speaks of the importance of “counting the cost” before setting out to build.
    5. And my personal favorite, Acts 17:11, which speaks of the Bereans. The Bereans heard Paul’s preaching but still double-checked what he said against the Word. As a result, the Bereans are referred to as being “of more noble character.”

Maybe I have the wrong Bible translation, but I don’t see Jesus calling anyone Negative Nellies in those verses or threatening them with the lie that they’re going to have their dreams taken from them because they wanted a closer look. And if the Bible is proving that questions are welcome, WHERE do directors and NSDs get off telling their followers that questions are NOT okay?

I find it funny that MK Corporate and its leaders can spout a paragraph of scripted history in radio interviews and sing “debt-free company” this and “50-year legacy” that, but the moment ANYONE does a little digging on MK outside of its Facebook page, Big Pink Goliath starts getting pelted with rocks.

It will only be a matter of time before one of those rocks strikes Goliath square in the forehead. Mary Kay Cosmetics is simply not strong enough to withstand simple research.

It’s great news, but it’s also proved that the “No negativity!” line of thinking hasn’t changed in MK. We’re still seeing the same garbage being spewed by its leaders:

      - Please do not ever “vent” or share negative thoughts with your team members…they will never view you the same once you have crossed this line. (NSD Amie Gamboian)

      - Put on blinders and go to work. Do not listen to negativity along the way…if someone is being negative, put your hand up and say “Please, let’s focus on something positive instead…”If that does not work, then avoid this person. (NSD Anita Garrett-Roe)

      - Do not investigate, do not verify, just do.

      - When following up on an interview, it must happen within 24 hours. The risk is this: she is going to seek out advice, so be available to give it. She will ask for counsel from others in her life and they can provide opinions, but you are the ONLY ONE in her life that can provide her with facts.

(The last two are from a director’s website that has since gone dark.)

I remember when sd cristina harris, right before she went nsd, had sent an email out to everyone on her list, saying almost the same type of thing as above, about the negative mk sucked web site.

However in her rush to send out her email she typed “do go to.” (She did not know I was out of mkc, had been for about a year.) Then within seconds she sent another email. in capital letter “DO NOT GO I MEANT TO TYPE DO NOT GO.”

This is how much control these sd, nsd have over their areas.
This tells me that the know that what they are doing is dead wrong.
They are taking advantage of women’s hopes and dreams on purpose.
The are only enriching their desperate lives.

Course I did go and that is how I discovered PT.
I am sure I was not the only one.

mkc has not changed, I agree. I would say, hell will freeze over first before they change.

The newest ibc, sd will be the ones that continue to change and see the truth. They are less indoctrinated.

Ya know on the NPR program?
It was the very first time that I actually heard a mkc person lie like a rug.
When he said not many ibc return products.
I have been out 6 damn years and still find myself surprised that they would lie like that.
I was aggravated with myself that I still thought that people representing mkc would tell truth. They don’t, they won’t, they never will.
I say that to say, I’ve been recovering for 6 years.

        Keep up the good fight!
        Sincerely.

Gotheart, do you perchance mean NSD Caterina Harris?

If so, I can definitely say from experience that if one tries to challenge NSD Harris with an ungodly teaching (such as NSD Wiegandt’s “lie to customers” crap), NSD Harris (who claims to be “anointed and appointed,” no less) will defend the filth coming out of her sister NSD’s mouth instead of taking a stand for what’s right.

So at my job, which is serving, we have a pre shift meeting. In this meeting a couple different things are discussed: the specials, negative things, and positive things. For instance we could have gotten a great email, we might talk about our contests, and mystery shops. Many times the mystery shop discussion is negative. What did we do wrong? What can we do better? What did the server do, the kitchen, the host, the managers.
We found the host were lowering our scores with one thing…we are required to open the door each and every time a guest comes in or out. Yeah crazy right? That is really hard. So we looked at the times of the shops and it turned out it is always right after we do our cuts of servers and a host. So less people are on the floor to assist in cleaning tables which is the main reason that a host would be away from the stand.
So now we know, from talking about a negative, we investigated the situation, discovered the REAL problem, and then came up with a solution. This is what discussing negative feelings within a business with your co workers, bosses, and family and friends.
Other then Mary Kay, I have never been at a company or within an industry that discourages negative discussions to find a solution to a problem.

“if she decides to go online to do some research herself and happens to land on one of these sites.”

God forbid a woman takes the initiative to do some background checking on a controversial company from multiple sources so she can make a clear and informed decision. The very idea that this woman wants to withhold information is very, very telling about what she feels are the ‘right’ practices of working MK. And exploiting God at that.

Although her directorship may be threatened by new information sources, PT is not going away.

And why would that be? Unless of course the words resonated with the Ibc or Director. Love the misdirection…it is not that “many will self doubt”…It’s that many will MARY KAY doubt! Look at how crafty that was! Coming to a site like this makes you DOUBT…YOURSELF???
NO! You DOUBT what you have been told! You doubt MARY KAY. You doubt that the reported income, results, achievements are actual!
And you SHOULD! Because they’re NOT!

You guys—I hope you see how crafty the manipulation is…you wouldn’t even catch that on a fast read through…but you immediately think, I don’t want to put myself into self doubt.

Self doubt was never the problem!!

The existence of REAL sales, REAL profits, and REAL referrals, which our SDs practically guaranteed, would go a LONG way towards dispelling doubts. If I have a REAL wall of genuine Mary Kay results, no amount of negative fear-mongering will stand up against it.

On the other hand, if the Mary Kay results are all fleeting, the Mary Kay wall I try to build is about as sturdy as unfired mud bricks in a hurricane.

When I was a kid I tried real hard to BELIEVE that I could do magic. I closed my eyes tight and absolutely convinced myself that my wishes had already come true. I just KNEW – I was absolutely CERTAIN – that my homework was done, my room was picked up, the dishes were clean, and I had a pony in the back yard. I just absolutely KNEW that when I opened my eyes I would get to ride my pony because I KNEW he was standing right outside my window. I KNEW without a shred of a doubt that it was all true.

      I opened my eyes.

There was no pony. My room was still a mess. I was almost out of time to finish my homework before bed. Any my mom, the Negative Nellie in my life, was standing in the doorway wanting to know why I hadn’t done the dishes yet.

      Stupid bee-lief.

I think the last paragraph is really telling. Obviously by coming here to read for herself (albeit three years ago) a seed has been planted. Something deep down inside is telling her that the Mary Kay business modelwill fail her. Whether or not she will admit that, only time will tell.

My question is how is the turn over in her unit and has she ever taken the time to really listen or even contact those who drop out?

Sometimes a little doubt is good. Makes you reevaluate one’s beliefs. If what you believe is really true it can stand under scrutiny. If not…well
