Do You Want More From Mary Kay?

Written by TRACY on . Posted in Culture & Manipulation

Ick. Another propaganda piece to assure Mary Kay consultants that if they just pray enough and want it enough, they can be successful in Mary Kay. If they are not successful, they must not have had a high enough “deserve level” or they’re lazy losers (like us – LOL).

Please respond to this ONLY if you want more for your life from Mary Kay!  I know that the women who respond to this – want more of my time and attention – and you will get it!!!  When you decide you will be accountable to someone else – major changes happen!

I believe that you came into Mary Kay to fulfill a dream that you have.  I know that Mary Kay can fill it – I have seen it be able to fill a woman’s deepest desires – I’ve seen people get babies, husbands, and money for whatever just to name a few things!

I also know that life gets in the way, that sometimes others disappoint us and that sometimes we just get tired/ frustrated L..

I am passionate about helping you make your dreams a reality!!!!!!!!!!  I USED THE FOLLOWING SYSTEM AND IT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD TO MOVING FORWARD!!

Here’s what I would like you to do to get things going:

1.  Promise me that you will not compare yourself to anyone else!

2.  Do Mary Kay to beat YOUR personal best each week/month.

3. Each week chart AND report to me via email the following things

We need a baseline to work from – so please send me these results for the entire month of September – you do not need to do it by the week – I can’t capture this data in the form I need from weekly accomplishment sheets:  (if you have already sent these numbers to me – no need to send them again)  IF YOUR RESULTS ARE NOT WHAT YOU ARE PROUD OF – THAT’S OK – YOU CAN  ONLY GO UP – SEND THEM TO ME ANYWAY!!

# of faces

# of classes

# of facials

# of basics

# of Career Talks

# of New Team Members/(+ Unit members if you are a Director)

Total Sales (less hostess credit)

# of Bookings that you booked for the entire month/ # that held

If you feel like you are stuck – read on because…

You can choose to get Un-Stuck Today!!

YOU CAN REACH YOUR GOALS THIS MONTH!!

CHOOSE ONE ARE MORE OF THESE, AND “LOOK OUT MARY KAY WORLD, HERE YOU COME”!!

Ways to Getting Un-Stuck!

1) RUN A SALE!  My favorite Sale is “Buy 2 Products  – Get your 3 rd for ½ price”  OR “Buy 3 Products – Get your 4th one Free!”  Call up all your regular customers and tell them you are going for #1 in your unit and you are running a Customer Appreciation Sale!  This is it!  Today and Tomorrow Only! I always say… “Is there anything you are running low on or would like to try new?”

2)  30 FACES IN 30 DAYS WILL FIX ANYTHING!  30 Faces in one month will fix ANY problem you have.  30 faces (or 5 shows of 6 people, etc) will give you new faces, new sales, new bookings, and new recruiting prospects! Now, doesn’t that fix any problem you have?  My script?  “Hi Sallee, this is Jen with Mary Kay! I am so excited!  I am in a HUGE contest to do 30 faces this month and I had to call you first because I knew you would help me out!  Can I borrow your face?  I will let you buy $75 worth of Mary Kay for $25 if you share our time together with 3 friends that I have never facialed!  What do you say? This week or next?”  NOW, LET’S THINK ABOUT THIS:  She buys $75 for $25 – we pay $37.50 for the $75 in product….she is paying $25 of it, so we are only out $12.50 – PRETTY SWEEET , HUH?  And, you are getting great sales from the 3 guests plus bookings!  ROCK ON!

3) 100 CUSTOMER BASE GOAL!   100 CUSTOMERS is where it’s AT!  Regardless where you are today, doing 30 faces in one month 3 months in a row, will give you 100 customers!  Soooooooo, 100 customers is ONLY AS FAR AWAY as 3 months, but can be closer if you do more faces quicker!  With 100 Customers, you have repeat business, reorders, DAILY!  Could you get excited about your phone ringing EVERY DAY in addition to your regular skin care classes and team building checks?  How about your first $3000 profit month in MK?  YES!

4) INTERVIEW 10!  INTERVIEW 10 PEOPLE that are good qualified prospects (customers, interested in another source of income, trust you, love the product, etc) and you will most likely recruit 4-5 of them!  Can you say “ON-TARGET FOR THE CAR” immediately!!!!!!!???????? An average check for someone on-target for their Vibe/Saturn Vue is in the $300-$500 monthly range!  Wha-lah!

5)      COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR DIRECTOR DAILY ABOUT YOUR WEEKLY GOALS!   COMMUNICATION with your Director daily is a must when you are wanting to move up!  Is there a reason why you can’t call her daily?  Email her?  Share your goals?  Plan with her?  I am here for you to make your dreams happen!  Let’s get it together and WORK IT AS A TEAM!

So don’t get tired of doing what is good.  Don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.   Gal 6:9

That’s right – Mary Kay is now giving away babies and husbands. This email proves it.

And I love the idea of “just” doing something like 30 faces in 30 days. They know how next-to-impossible it is to get women to hold appointments, so doing 30 faces in 30 days is hard. Very hard. Even when you try very hard. I just hate it when they make women feel like they’re losers if they can’t do it. Hint: Almost no one in Mary Kay does it.

Can you get excited about that?

I got my husband as a raffle prize at a Meatloaf and Motivation unit meeting. They made a faux pas though – left the price tag on, so I knew they’d got him from a dime store. Bummer.

“doing 30 faces in one month 3 months in a row, will give you 100 customers!”

Hmmmm…my schooling taught me that 30×3 = 90. Ah well, not knowing how to multiply is par for the course in MK, isn’t it? Let’s forget about the bigger issue of finding 90 faces or 100 faces in 3 months. We KNOW that parties don’t hold, and that most don’t become real customers. The average sale per person present at a party is certainly not 50.00. Most of us know that people make a pity purchase for their friend and it’s usually a lipstick or a mascara. Let’s not forget that in many small towns and rural communities every family has a sister, cousin, mom, aunt, etc. who is a MK consultant. Who will be your customers? We also know that in many of these small communities half of your circle of friends, church, and school groups are inundated with not only MK but Pampered Chef, MonaVie, Tupperware, purse mlms, Silpada, etc. People get so tired of feeling obligated to go to their friends’ parties. This letter is not for a person working a real job outside of MK. Fulfilling the requirements of this will require you stalking people in grocery stores, libraries, and the mall. I’m curious…has anyone asked any SD who sends out claptrap like this if they too are taking the challenge for 3 months?

The director I worked for did not take on the same “challenges” because she claimed to be too busy managing everyone else. Plus she had already built her business to a level she was happy with. (un-huh)

One of the things I just love about these “training” documents is their blatant pulled-out-of-the-cosmos “how to” strategy for success. This strategy goes completely un-examined by the purveyor. It isn’t even tried! It is just created in air and sent on its merry way.

Number 3. IF…if, you actually held 30 facials in 3 months would you have 100 customers? Would you? Are you told to really grow to 100 customers or are you ALSO told to hold 10 interviews? Go ahead. TRY IT!

This very training document is a sure fire way to NOT…i repeat NOT reach the goal of what the training document is supposed to be teaching you how to do!!!

If you book 4 or 5 to get started on 30, but you ALSO have to interview to get 4 or 5 good hostesses to go IBC, you will NEVER reach 100 customers! It’s impossible! This just shows you what a line of shiz the so called training for success actually is!

Out of 30 faces, selected interview-ees, who join, are going to TAKE the class attenders as their own customers. THAT’S the reality. That’s what actually happens. And each IBC would be happy to give them up to generously let their new recruit get “started”…and of course the guests would rather go with their friend over the IBC they just met…so who’s kidding who?

The purveyor of this document would have to have TRIED IT to know it never works as written, and the fact that she spews it out to her downline is an INDICTMENT of her false and misleading “training”. She hasn’t done it herself but she wants you to think you can, and here in a nutshell is the GUTS of why Mary Kay is despicable. You are constantly comparing your own efforts and results to FANTASY results!

How many women, Directors and IBC’s both, have tried and tried and tried to do what they were taught to do, achieving less than stellar results, and blow out blaming themselves because of it? Because they believed that somebody else WAS doing it?

NSD Careers were built in this company on the recruited downline of those who were willing to die trying! SUCCESS is WHO you recruit. How willing are they to go to the wall? How much access to cash to they have? Do their husbands support them in the fantasy? Top Directors have offspring who load their commissions…its WHO you recruit that makes the difference and how well you can manage the attrition and attitudes of the Unit. So the vast majority of recruits come in and blow out, while commissions are skimmed off their failed attempts to “do what their Director says”. It’s the SAME for DIRECTORS! Achievement in Unit Clubs all comes down to who has credit card space (the largest amounts being on New recruits cards)
Directors get the same directives as this lady is giving her unit members…a “how to strategy” completely concocted out of the wind.
The reality? We were never competing as sales units. Those who found ways to recruit every possible member of an IBC’s customer base, beat out all others. And of course KILLED the business of the IBC. AH, but who will be blamed? Certainly not Mary Kay.

Mary Kay – a self esteem builder? A DREAM granter? Not on your life.

$12.50 x 30 = $375 in losses for the month (product sold for less than you paid for it). Over three months, if you could actually get 90 faces, you’d have lost more than a thousand dollars. Don’t you just love the way you’re encouraged to do the math when projecting potential sales, but not potential losses?

Terrific article on the Mary Kay propaganda.
I only want to comment on the “30 FACES IN 30 DAYS WILL FIX ANYTHING!” Crap! I am with ya on that PINKIU.

    LOL!
After a Kaybot has gone through her family and friends with their mercy purchases she has to turn to the general public, GP.

Talking to people she does not know to the point that they are willing to hand over their phone number! If she manages to accomplish this through her manipulation tactics, then there is the wrong information provided by the GP. No way in hell do women in their right mind give out their correct phone numbers, but if they do it is so she leaves them alone, cause they think she is creepy. The GP can be sitting at the provided play ground at McDonalds, with their kids or at story time at the library. One lead at a time, or at the craft fair, bridal fair, wherever.
In order to attempt to get to the 30 in 30 a Kaybot will have to at least BOOK over 300 faces, believe me I know, 10% will book and that is on a good day, if she has been given the correct phone number. HOWEVER only 1% will hold. The 1%? They are the creepy ones that see nothing wrong in having a strange women in their home. The Kaybot will realize this when she is in their home and will wish she never met them. So you see it is a lot of HARD DISAPPOINTING WORK to accomplish 30 in 30 but that information is not given.

Kaybots to NSD that say they do 30 in 30, well most of them are lying.
OR they have a tremendous support system and know a lot of people.

Then to say they do 30 in 30 for 3 months in a row are lying and are in need of some serious therapy and confession.

    The propaganda

gotheart you bring up another thing we rarely talk about here, and that’s WHO becomes the “warm booked” willing participant! No lie! The most distressing appointments I ever busted my royal rear to book and hold were some of the “stranger” appointments~~~cause you have NO idea who you are stopping cold at a mall. Even facial boxes can be disappointingly full of women who want nothing but entertainment and attention. The “numbers game” always fairs well in these instructive scenario’s but never in real life!

This is so true! The only people who put their names in my facial boxes were kids under 18 or people with no money anyway. What a waste of time.

The tone of blatent desperation is passed down to others in this piece of crud! No way is the person writing this going to do this herself. This is so ridiculous, but not to those who think they MUST perform in MK. This stuff always got me because being analytical, had to make business sense somehow….until I figured it out that it is rhetoric and there is no method to the madness.

    I especially like this fact.

“You are constantly comparing your own efforts and results to FANTASY results!”

I always thought that the NSD and SD got to their career status with the techniques they taught. Like the above. I assumed that what they taught us was how they got to where they were in their careers. Wrong!

I blindly did as they suggested. Not even thinking that 3 x 30 = 90.

And while I’m at it, who the heck says “capture the data”? Maybe a researcher. Besides that, what is the Kaybot going to do with the data she captures? I am sure she will manipulate it and misinterpret it so that poor BC looks like she is actually successful or not working hard enough.

The only women these ideas seem to work for, are women married to successful men who can carry them. No way can someone live the dream on MK commissions. And to think Mary Kay had something against me n How many of her nationals wouldn’t be where they are without a successful spouse there to pick up the pink slack?

Saw this on a FB post today: “Totally have to brag about 2 women that are near and dear to my heart and my offspring sales directors!! “Suzy” is #8 in her debuting class and “Alice” is #1 in her debuting class. These women and their units are such an inspiration to me and show that if you work hard and consistent in this Mary Kay business – YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL! Congrats!” And I say……at what cost?????? No-one mentions that aspect. I’ve been hiding many of my MK peep posts because I just cannot stand what I’m reading, knowing the truth behind it. Here’s to enlightenment to those ladies & their consultants. May they find it!
