Mary Kay Cosmetics: A Pink Predator

Written by TRACY on . Posted in Business Basics, Videos

Recently, I appeared on HuffPost Live, discussing multi-level marketing and its negative effects on those who become distributors. Below is a clip in which I discuss my opinion that Mary Kay Cosmetics is one of the most predatory MLMs available.

Amen! They are the epitome of “if it sounds to good to be true it probably is”

People forget I think, that we are part of a global mining pool. Mary Kay has taken heat in the past, and they just go quiet for a while and then pop up again to a younger demographic who isn’t aware.

Likewise, I am guessing that because of us (and other rebuttal sites), they can just go “quiet” in the US and build in China and India and the rest of the Pacific Rim…and like pink locusts, exhaust the resources of women attempting to build the pyramid. 25 Years from now, there will be a Chinese Website devoted to exposing Mary Kay China, if not already. Maybe sooner. We didn’t have internet when women started smelling the stench…

So, they’ll return to North America…and target the next generation…perhaps believing that Tracy and Pinktruth and the rest of us will long have gotten bored, died, moved on…

They can move all over the world, can’t they? With NSD’s so excited to “open” territories and be the FIRST…the PINNACLE…The TIPPY TOP of all the future downline pushing them up the commission pyramid.

Each new generation of women, all over the world, now, are in the crosshairs of a system that exploits, abuses, manipulates, and lies to the trusting, unaware, needy, hopeful masses. And the greatest tragedy? They use other women to do it.

I just love the ‘”dis-connect” that David Holl has regarding his near BLISS over the Mary Kay employee’s participation within corp, versus the Mary Kay Sales force in the field.

Its all growth growth growth, and happy little manufacturing plants, and hiring for tech savvy social media, and we would miss any employee leaving the biz——-WITH A TURNOVER RATE OF CONSULTANTS at near 90% annually with not a DROP of concern.

They honest to God do not care ONE BIT, that they make their money off wholesale orders that rarely make it to retail sales. Not their problem. They have Sales Directors at all levels programmed to root around for replacement consultants, while National Sales Directors do the same-rooting around for replacement Directors.

The LACK OF SUCCESS at the bottom rung isn’t even a blip in his conscience. Sell $1000 wholesale on average to every IBC, upfront, and convince her not to return it…then go find another.

This apparently is more profitable than building a CONSUMER over a long period of time, who is loyal to the product and buys retail. With so much competition in cosmetics, this probably IS more profitable. At least they get that STOCK THE STORE sale followed by the immediate blame shift that the consultant didn’t try hard enough to sell it that prevents her from returning it. What other cosmetics company gets a $1000-3000 order from ONE CONSUMER before she drifts off to the competition?

This guy is in massive denial…or a complete fraud. I just can not stand how they pretend they sell cosmetics to a world market instead of their ACTUAL PRODUCT: a pyramid structure requiring constant replacement of failed recruits who buy wholesale to achieve status and place among the levels of the pyramid.

Holl, you seem like a nice guy. Get your head out of the sand! Why not get out of the building and walk among the sales force? Why not lead a company that doesn’t get its money off the failure of its “employees=independent contractors”?

Raisin – You’re so right. It is much more expensive creating an actual retail base. It’s much easier for MK to create the PERCEPTION of a retail base, while selling at wholesale and secretly knowing the vast majority of the products never make it to the hands of a third party customer.

Although I am actually shaking from the information in this article, I could not wait until I calmed down to comment. Cause I probably won’t and will actually be skipping, to “Zippidy Doo Dah” all day. I know that is corny but it is me. You have given me a wonderful day!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for putting this on the site where I can read and re read it, comprehend, and be able to repeat it and sound credible in expressing myself.

The thought is never far from my mind, of all the many families just in my city, then state, then USA, then globally that have been deceived by this candy coated poison, that is handed out by the most honest, genuine person. The “volunteers” do not realize they are actually signing up and paying to be used to pass out false hope.

I have asked myself why does this keep going? Thank you for helping me to connect the dots and visually see the charts. This article and the two web sites of information have made my day!

    Best Valentine’s Day ever!

I think it is extremely ironic that you are wearing a red jacket in this video! LOL
