Women Don’t Join Mary Kay to “Have Fun”

Written by TRACY on . Posted in Business Basics, Failure in MLM, Videos

One of the common “defenses” of multi-level marketing and the fact that 99% of people lose money in it… is that people just joined to HAVE FUN! They didn’t really want to make any money. They just wanted to meet people and have fun.

In this clip from my appearance on HuffPost live, I debunk the myth of joining to “have fun” with the help of Robert FitzPatrick, founder of Pyramid Scheme Alert.

“people just joined to HAVE FUN! They didn’t really want to make any money. They just wanted to meet people and have fun.”

And that’s why the I-stories are all about the fun they have spending the Mary Kay MONEY on McMansions, and waggling their diamond-laden fingers at the proles, and swanning around Europe in expensively trashy outfits with other fun-living women.

    And driving gas-guzzling Cadillac SUVs.

Bottom line. The “mary kay home party plan business” will NEVER be a “business”. However- The mary kay Recruiting pyramid will be a “business” for the top 1%, who got in early and ride the downline. Everybody else is filler.

What the masses do not get is that EVERY member of the top 2% HAS to elaborately “SELL” the marketing plan because they have to REPLACE the “fall out” consultants who wised up and left. They have to pretend they believe or they could not do it!

Actually this was the hook and sinker for me because I work as an engineer and I realized oh crap I do not have a lot of girlfriends, bottom line is these were not girlfriends at all. I ran back to the man cave at work and started again this time got real gal pals. It only took me 10yrs to realize it. If this post can save anyone else, it would be great. It is not fun, a director told me it is is her acting that makes the meeting and things come together, and she really thought she WAS an actress practicing for the big movie deal. Think she is sacking groceries now.
