Pink Truth: Whiny, Negative, Judgmental Women

Some interesting comments from a Mary Kay consultant who claims to be making six figures a year, despite having no recruits. At the same time she claims that’s her income, she had to start a fundraiser to pay legal fees for her felon boyfriend. Something doesn’t add up!

I keep reading all these stories and posts and what I dont understand is why any one of these people involved in this site even cares? It’s masked as a way “to help other ‘victims’ from the mary kay scam” but really sounds like a bunch of whiney, negative, judgemental women. Im not a consultant nor do I care if Mary Kay is a “scam” or not.

No one is being manipulated or promised anything from what I can tell nor does anyone have a gun put to their head to invest in their involvement is this company so hardly think this page is necessary. If anyone felt pressured to do something that is their own internal nonsense talking. No one can make you feel a certain way, your giving these consultants to much damm credit frankly.

If you really wanted Mary Kay to sink and fall you would not show any attention to the company at all. That is indifference and indifference will kill a company more than slandering and hateshaming ever could. Anyone truly wasting their time slandering a company for selling cosmetics and recruiting other employees suggests jealousy that you didnt so the work needed to be successful yourself. Otherwise if that were not the case you wouldbt care.

I find it hard to believe a company that lasts 53+ years without any debt worldwide could do so while silently manipulating victims the whole time. Its morelikey that one or twowomen who “tried” mary kay, invested money, put in little time of effort in to be sucessful got jealous and bitter and quit and decided to take out their feelings of inadequacy online. You know statistically there is study after study that visualization and positive enforcement will create sucess in business then skepticism?

The ones truly harming the potential of future consultants are those on this site. Its like everyone takes god abf family before work to mean that every hiccup, diaper rash and diaper change is worth using as an excuse not to work your business and any one who disagrees is part of a manipulative pyrimid scheme…no..we disagree because your flaky and lazy and expect success to fall in your lap.

You exoect to run sucessful business without startup costs. These other businesses made everyone so damn entitled. No real business can effectively run without a stock of inventory and that always costs money. What if your favorite clothes store only carried one item of every size to try on and you haf to order your new clothes? Dumb.

Sorry for whomever got “manipulated” and quit their business and feels burned but maybr take mote ownership of your choices becuse seems to me while ylu are criticising and judging these sales directors about their lies etc that they are too busy earning jewelry and free cars etc to be bothered with that childish behavior…this is such a dumb Congo in my opinion anf its not your job to save anyone. And shoving your point down potential recruits throatsmakes you no. Better then the women your complaining about.

How do you know your site hasnt held back a woman from signing who would have beena national and had a totally different life for theirfamily but you “savex her” so now she and her family struggle pay to pay wishing they had a plan b set up? I dunno just aome thoughta

“What if your favorite clothes store only carried one item of every size to try on and you haf to order your new clothes?”

Wouldn’t happen. And if the store didn’t sell it, they could return it to the designer.

” Im not a consultant nor do I care if Mary Kay is a “scam” or not.”

    Yeah right!

“How do you know your site hasnt held back a woman from signing who would have beena national and had a totally different life for theirfamily but you “savex her”[sic]”

That’s the purpose of Pink Truth.

“Sorry for whomever got “manipulated” and quit their business and feels burned but maybr take mote ownership of your choices becuse seems to me while ylu are criticising and judging these sales directors about their lies etc that they are too busy earning jewelry and free cars etc to be bothered with that childish behavior”

Aside from trying to read through your hidoues grammar.. Just so you know–them cars aren’t free.

“Anyone truly wasting their time slandering a company for selling cosmetics and recruiting other employees suggests jealousy that you didnt so the work needed to be successful yourself. Otherwise if that were not the case you wouldbt care.”

This is America! Freedom of speech. And telling the truth is not slander.

Since I’m fairly sure I’m not allowed to swear in the comments section, please litter this comment with appropriate levels of invective because I assure you, there are multiple derivatives of 4 letter words which have been edited out.

My Mom’s been working her business for 20+ years. She put more time and effort into her business than she did into raising me. She ‘stretched’ when she ‘needed to’, to the detriment of actually putting food on the table because this time, this time she’d sell it all and move up and rake in the commission checks and we’d be sitting pretty. She warm chattered and held parties and recruited and did all the stuff you’re supposed to do.

‘your kids won’t remember you missing this/that/the other but they’ll remember you paying for college’, right? Except I got neither. I do remember the times Mom missed things I did because she was working her business but the only reason I managed to get into the college I got into (or any college) was scholarships, loans and busting my own ass to do it because I was that desperate to get away.

So yeah, I want to harm the futures of potential consultants. I want every SAHM or single mom or working mom who wants a bit of extra cash to not miss a minute of their kids life that they don’t have to. I don’t want kids to grow up knowing that hey, they might be starring in the school play or something but if mommy’s business needs her she’ll drop everything to go look after it because that might be the only thing paying the rent or the mortgage or the credit card bill that month.

“No real business can effectively run without a stock of inventory and that always costs money. What if your favorite clothes store only carried one item of every size to try on and you haf to order your new clothes? Dumb.”

Except that’s not what Mary Kay does. To use your clothing store analogy – what Mary Kay is doing is demanding that the store’s staff purchase all the clothes from the overarching store and then sell them for a profit within the store. Never mind that the store itself is marking the clothes up to make a profit when they sell them to the staff who then have to mark the prices up even more for them to make a profit.

But wait, there’s more. The store hands out prizes for the most sales, but doesn’t actually monitor the store to know if sales are happening so the staff are just taking the clothes home and pretending they sold them all the while trying to make anyone who comes in the store’s door want to work in the store so that the one who recruits the most might get promoted to manager and start making commissions off the rest of the staff when they buy the ever changing range of clothes.

“How do you know your site hasnt held back a woman from signing who would have beena national and had a totally different life for theirfamily but you “savex her” so now she and her family struggle pay to pay wishing they had a plan b set up?”

I’m almost 100% sure that this hypothetical family’s plan b would not include mountains of credit card debt, time spent away from spouse and husband and enough boxes of makeup to build a decent size fort.

I am so, so sorry. Mary Kay aside, neglect is extremely harmful to children (I went through similar neglect but without MK) and I so understand where you’re coming from. It’s not fair that this happened to you. You deserved a mother who would be there for you, provide for you, love and nurture and raise you.

Ridiculous amounts of gooshy internet hugs from me to you.

I guess when I drove pink Cadillacs I was “flaky and lazy”. Or when I earned diamond bar pins onstage. Was I “flaky and lazy” when I developed Offspring Directors and dozens of Red Jackets?

No, you’re right, it does take effort to get to those things, but I’m on here to show that the odds are very much against most women who will never even get into the Director suit (98% actually). Once someone does bust into the top 2%, it’s even fewer that make it into a Cadillac or a bar pin or have Offspring.

The business model is flawed, outdated, and stacked against the majority. MKI has no desire to change it up because they have huge profit margins from the 98% that don’t get there. Of course they are debt-free! They’re able to clear huge profits because so many women desperately try to make it work month after month.

Please watch what you say, speak only from experience, and, also, please use spellcheck. That is truly the “lazy” thing here.

      1. MLM Radar

This misspelled spew seems to be something written by an ESSD’s or NSD’s teenage daughter.

Maybe if mom had spent more time with Daughter Dearest, and less time trying to be an Elite MK Queen, her Daughter Dearest would know how to write understandable English.

“If you really wanted Mary Kay to sink and fall you would not show any attention to the company at all. That is indifference and indifference will kill a company more than slandering and hateshaming ever could.”

Sooooo, why are you here then posting? Preaching to others to be indifferent but not practicing indifference?

  6. MLM Radar

If you really wanted Mary Kay to sink and fall you would not show any attention to the company at all.

So we’re supposed to just stand by with our eyes closed when we know MK Directors and Nationals and MK Corp are driving others around us into financial ruin? Sorry.

All that is required for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.

Did you ever hear that quote? Did you pay attention? Indifference will not stop a company that respects no boundaries. Indifference doesn’t work when the company trains its people to consider every person they encounter as a potential customer or recruit (standing in line for a public toilet, filling the car’s gas tank, sitting at the next table in a burger place). Indifference doesn’t work when the company trains its people to see every social gathering as a sales and recruiting opportunity (weddings, funerals, graduations, family reunions, hospital visits).

Indifference doesn’t work when the company trains its people to hide their hidden agenda of sales and recruiting behind a smoke-screen of insincere complements and “warm chat,” while lying to friends, family, and themselves about the dreadful true cost of the “opportunity.”

So, no, we’re not going away. We’re not going to stop speaking up and pretend we don’t see the destruction you’re spreading. We’re going to warn, befriend, and counsel your past, current and intended victims, so that the evil you’re spreading is forced to stop.

When I was a consultant I had a customer tell me she had attended a wedding in NJ and was “warm chatted” by what turned out to be a MK sales director. After my customer informed her she had a consultant and was quite happy the SD did not back off. Repeatedly she tried to STEAL my customer. When my customer shared this story with me, she let me know how put out she was by this SD’s aggressive behavior.

However my reason for leaving MK was following an incident that happened while attending seminar.

The company had contacted my SD to inform her the $1800 order placed by her new recruit did not go through. I walked into the room only to hear my SD on the phone giving my credit card number to someone.

I asked her, “What’s going on?” She waved me off and said, “It’s okay.” Another consultant standing nearby informed me of the declined $1800 order. My SD was using MY credit card to place this order. WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!

I shockingly said to my SD, “What are you doing. I don’t even know this person!!” Again she waved me off and said, “It’s okay. She’s good for it.”

When I returned home I had to inform my husband of this transaction because the card my SD used was our joint account. To say he was livid is putting it mildly. He informed me what she did was commit credit card fraud and he was ready to press charges. I got him to calm down and assured him I was to be repaid.

Well after repeatedly asking for my money, my SD finally wrote me a check. It took about 3 weeks. I don’t know if she was reimbursed because a week later her new recruit was admitted to the psych ward and the recruits husband admitted to Rehab.

Following this unfortunate incident my SD’s behavior toward me was anything but kind. The consultant who witnessed the fraud apologized stating she didn’t know what was going on.

There may be new rules in place so something like this does not happen. I don’t really know.

Did my SD get her money back? I don’t know and I don’t care!

I did leave MK ( a few years ago) and have discovered many wonderful products that make my skin look better than MK ever did.

      1. MLM Radar

Wow. Just wow. Right in front of you.

If that had happened to me I’d have been on the phone to the credit card company within 5 minutes and reporting the charge as fraudulent. I’d even let her hear the end of the conversation (but not the beginning, so she couldn’t stop me).

        1. Lazy Gardens

Often they have a plausible reason, like helping you get on inTouch and making the first order, or letting you use your credit card for a meeting expense and tell them the number over the phone …

But they keep the passwords and numbers.

          1. Nancy Mills

We had four people in our room. SD had our cc’s to cover expenses as this was last day of seminar. She was NEVER given permission to use MY cc for a total strangers order!

Gosh I love Pink Truth! You women nailed it!!

To the ill-informed poster…. please, go back to high school remedial English and park your butt there until you can convey your thoughts legibly. Thank you.

  8. Still Breaking The Basic

“I find it hard to believe a company that lasts 53+ years without any debt worldwide could do so while silently manipulating victims the whole time.”

The company doesn’t have any debt because the consultants are the ones with it. Consultants are the ultimate customers. That’s the silent manipulation.

Typical spelling, grammar and punctuation. But I do thank you for leaving a few ????? and !!!!! for the rest of us.

    1. Lily in NYC

I was just thinking about that sentence. I think the reason MK was able to get away with it for so long is because there was no internet. Although I’m sure the internet helps MLMs in many ways, it also allows people to research and investigate and report on scams.

  9. Beth

I couldn’t force myself to read the whole thing, but I skimmed and didn’t see the part about her six-figure income and loser boyfriend. Did that come from another source?

  10. Deflated Pink Bubble

OH I LOVE THESE!!!!! Tons of BS and tons of spelling and grammatical errors! She’s the PERFECT Mary Kay Consultant!

I keep reading all these stories and posts and what I dont (should be don’t) understand is why any one of these people involved in this site even cares?

**Why do we care? Because we lost an awful lot of money with this scam and we truly are trying to help others so it doesn’t happen to them.

It’s masked as a way “to help other ‘victims’ from the mary kay scam” (It’s a proper noun Mary Kay… It needs to be capitalized) but really sounds like a bunch of whiney, (whiny) negative, judgemental (judgmental) women.

** There is nothing “masked” here. We are very open about what we are trying to do. None of us are whiny, negative or judgmental and I really don’t appreciate you referring to us as such.

Im (I’m — I know it’s a pesky apostrophe.) not a consultant nor do I care if Mary Kay is a “scam” or not.

** I have a question… Why the Hell are you here? If you’re not a consultant nor do you care, move on. No. You are here because you have an interest in what is happening on this site. You don’t just stumble on to Pink Truth. You find it when you are searching for information on Mary Kay Cosmetics… So, why are you really here?

No one is being manipulated or promised anything from what I can tell nor does anyone have a gun put to their head to invest in their involvement is this company so hardly think this page is necessary. (OMG run on sentence overload! That should have commas or be separate sentences or something!)

** Where to start with this part… First, does anyone else recognize the Mary Kay jargon here? No one put a gun to our heads! This is a consultant folks. You may not think this site is necessary but frankly, your opinion does not count. You’re not needed here. Move along please.

If anyone felt pressured to do something that is their own internal nonsense talking. No one can make you feel a certain way, your giving these consultants to much damm (damn is the correct spelling) credit frankly.

**No this is not internal nonsense talking. If you had spent any time at all reading on this site, you would know about the manipulation tactics that are used in Mary Kay. These tactics are taught to everyone from a consultant right on up to the NSD level.

If you really wanted Mary Kay to sink and fall you would not show any attention to the company at all. That is indifference and indifference will kill a company more than slandering and hateshaming (hate shaming… two words) ever could. Anyone truly wasting their time slandering a company for selling cosmetics and recruiting other employees suggests jealousy that you didnt – (didn’t – there’s that pesky apostrophe again) so (you mean “do” and not “so” right?) the work needed to be successful yourself. Otherwise if that were not the case you wouldbt (wouldn’t) care.

** You are missing the point of why we are here. Actually, Mary Kay sinking is not our first priority. Granted, we would love to see that. Our priority is to keep other people from losing tens of thousands of dollars like we did. I personally lost about 10 grand.

I find it hard to believe a company that lasts 53+ years without any debt worldwide could do so while silently manipulating victims the whole time.

**Hmm… You seem to know an awful lot about the Mary Kay Corporation… That’s not the kind of knowledge the average person has. Are you SURE you’re not a consultant?

Its morelikey (more likely) that one or twowomen (two women) who “tried” mary kay, (Mary Kay.. it’s that whole proper noun thing) invested money, put in little time of effort in to be sucessful (successful) got jealous and bitter and quit and decided to take out their feelings of inadequacy online.

** One or two huh? That’s what you really think? Check this website out and you will see that there are THOUSANDS of us on here. Thousands of us all telling the same damn story. Thousands of us who had the same damn experiences. Everyone on this site who was in Mary Kay will tell you they didn’t make any money. There is power in numbers and honey, we have numbers. Lots of them.

You know statistically there is study after study that visualization and positive enforcement will create sucess (success) in business then skepticism?

** Sounds like regurgitated Mary Kay bullshit to me! Visualize that you will sell all this product and it will happen. Nope. Doesn’t work. You can’t visualize making money in Mary Kay and have it happen. It is mathematically impossible.

The ones truly harming the potential of future consultants are those on this site.

**Absolutely not. It’s the flawed Mary Kay business plan that is harming the potential of any and all Mary Kay consultants.

Its like everyone takes god abf (and – you really should start using spell check. That or notice that the squiggly red line under your words mean they are misspelled.) family before work to mean that every hiccup, diaper rash and diaper change is worth using as an excuse not to work your business

** Are you absolutely positive you’re not a consultant? You really sound like a consultant. Albeit a very brainwashed one but a consultant nonetheless.

and any one who disagrees is part of a manipulative pyrimid (pyramid) scheme…no..we disagree because your flaky and lazy and expect success to fall in your lap.

**EXCUSE ME? Did you just call us flaky and lazy? How dare you! You have no effing clue what the women on this site have accomplished. No clue whatsoever. Don’t come to our site and call us flaky and lazy unless you want some serious backlash. We don’t take kindly to that at all.

You exoect (expect) to run sucessful (successful – question. How can you be successful if you can’t even spell it?) business without startup costs. These other businesses made everyone so damn entitled.

**What other businesses? And who are you calling entitled?

No real business can effectively run without a stock of inventory and that always costs money. What if your favorite clothes store only carried one item of every size to try on and you haf (have) to order your new clothes? Dumb.

**The only thing dumb right there is your analogy. What? Makes no damn sense.

Sorry for whomever got “manipulated” and quit their business and feels burned but

** Oh I hate it when there is a “but” after someone says they are sorry. It’s the whole sorry not sorry thing.

maybr (maybe) take mote (more) ownership of your choices becuse (because) seems to me while ylu (you) are criticising (criticizing) and judging these sales directors about their lies etc that they are too busy earning jewelry and free cars etc to be bothered with that childish behavior…this is such a dumb Congo (Congo? Did you maybe mean convo?) in my opinion anf (and) its (it’s – there is that pesky apostrophe again) not your job to save anyone. And shoving your point down potential recruits throatsmakes (throats makes – two words) you no. Better then the women your complaining about.

** They jewelry they earn is worthless. Dirt diamonds and rings that will turn your finger green. And those cars… they aren’t free honey. Nor are they owned by the director driving them. Those are leased cars and in order to keep them they have to purchase thousands and thousands of dollars in Mary Kay product every single month. Should they miss a month, they have to pay an inflated lease payment directly to Mary Kay Corporate.
** We aren’t shoving our opinions down anyone’s throats. No one is forced to come to this site and read. To use your phrase, which is a common Mary Kay phrase as well, no one put a gun to your head.

How do you know your site hasnt (hasn’t) held back a woman from signing who would have been a national and had a totally different life for their family but you “savex (saved) her” so now she and her family struggle pay to pay wishing they had a plan b set up? I dunno just aome thoughta (some thoughts?)

**Okay look, very few women who get into the Mary Kay business wind up being a national. The road all the way up to national is a struggle financially. We are saving women from losing that money to start with. The women who are nationals have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in Mary Kay products.

** It seems you know just enough about Mary Kay to be dangerous… Why don’t you stick around a read a bit. Educate yourself. That and use spell check please.

        1. Still Breaking The Basic

Many kaybots have come here accusing us of being “lazy loosers” who didn’t work our business correctly.

They ignored the little red squiggle underneath loosers. Or didn’t know what to do with it.
