If You Don’t Work in Mary Kay, You Don’t Make Money

Advice to us about how to do well in Mary Kay…. from someone who signed up to be a consultant FOUR times.

Hi, I understand where everyone is coming from. I have read all of the comments. However, I know women who are very successful in Mary Kay. Any time you have a business, you are going to invest money and time to make it work. If you don’t work, you don’t make money.

Not all women understand how to balance career and family. It does have its ups and downs, yes, but it is sales.

Yes, you invest time, yes, you invest energy. And some money to get started. It’s a business. A job.

People look at this opprotunity as something they don’t have to work for and you get all these benefits. I have signed up to be a consultant 4 times in my life. It did not work the way I thought it would or should the first few times. However, I did not do what I needed to either. I thought it was some sort of magic business that when you sign up money just came to you without really having to do much. WRONG.

You do have get out there to meet people. I have talked to complete strangers about MaryKay in the grocery store. But I really do care about women, I want them to feel good about themselves. I want them to be able to make money on their time and not someone else’s. It’s not all about me. It’s about helping everyone find that extra money they need for whatever life throws at them. They also need to know that there are other women that were once where they are, but now have to money to take that vacation, or help take care of their aging parents. Maybe not all women will be top sales directors. But they can at least pay their bills without having to break their backs doing so.

You do have to work. But you work at your own pace. You don’t have to climb the ladder of success and be at the top. You can have a solid customer base, have time for yourself , family, and make money. You can not let people pressure you to be a Team Leader, or Director if you don’t want to.

Do what is comfortable for YOU!

Work your business smart, not hard. You can do it. But do what is right for you ultimately.

News flash, sister…. no matter how hard you work in Mary Kay, you are almost guaranteed to lose money!

Shouldn’t it be about makeup and skincare? I thought it wasn’t a pyramid scheme? Isn’t it about selling cosmetics, not recruiting a team?

WHERE IS THE MONEY COMING FROM IF YOU’RE NOT SELLING THE PRODUCT?

Well sure! Pin money consultants are having a lovely time in the Pink Sorority. Sell $100 this week, take home forty bucks! Do that every week and Yippee! $160.00 for the month. Now just don’t pay room fee every week, and please stay home for Drive Free & Donuts. And do NOT register for career conference either! ‘Cause sooner or later, your pin money will erode into paying for your indoctrination parties.

Boy, where to start with this one?

First off, I highly doubt she has read ALL of the comments. But then the MK gals do like to
    s-t-r-e-t-c-h the truth!

I find comfort that the IBCs don’t have to be Top Directors, but that they will have money to pay their bills without breaking their backs. I’m guessing she doesn’t have many bills like mortgage/rent, insurance, water, cable, garbage, electricity, etc…

And I highly doubt she has ever taken care of elderly parents with her MK money. If that were possible then MKorpse would have to raise the bar on “Queen of Ordering”.

“No’s” are counted as the above mentioned “work” and I didnt make squat on any of them.

It sounds like she never had a bad day out warm-stalking women at the local coffee shop.

    Yeah. Sure.

I hate that one of the biggest lies in MK is “the products sell themselves!”.
If that were true, why do you have to do all that ground work? Shouldn’t people be seeking out this holy grail product?
Talking to completely strangers in the middle of a store, expecting them to want to join your “great business opportunity”? No, that’s creepy.

If you don’t work, you don’t make money.

    This is true.

But the problem with MK, and all other MLMs, is that even if you work 24/7/365 trying to sell the products you STILL don’t make money. That’s why so many people get discouraged and quit.

The only way to make money in this “business” is to recruit lots of other by lying to them that THEY can make money selling the products, then grabbing all the commissions you can before they figure it out and quit.

notice she talked a lot about recruiting other women to start selling so they can make money too……she didn’t say anything at all about how she makes her sales. so is she actually selling makeup, or just trying to make other people sell it?

You’re not making any profit if you’re not recruiting. It’s as simple as that, which explains why people yearn to be up the career path. The costs to maintain a “sales only” model are huge and eat into your 50% profit, but adding a team does truly give you better chances at more money.

And, please, don’t dare tell so many of us on here that drove Cadillacs that we weren’t working. Who do you think set up those chairs for your unit meeting? And that newsletter? What about your

The price Marykay sells their products to consultants is too expensive.
In drug stores if something doesn’t sell even after marking it down they can return the product for a refund. This is one of the many problems with Mary Kay.

After all these years, I still don’t understand why these kaybots think we didn’t do enough to make it work. Where do they get off saying we didn’t try hard enough or work long enough. They have no clue. And here is one who has signed up FOUR times already and is STILL singing Mary Kay’s praises. Four times and she still hasn’t figured it out. Somehow she thinks this time will be different… I got news for you sweetie. This time will be the same. You will again fail. You will always fail because that is how Mary Kay set this system up.

The definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.
