Linda Toupin’s Mary Kay Husband Letter

Getting husbands to buy into the idea of Mary Kay Cosmetics is critical. The wife is almost guaranteed to lose money, so it is important to get the husband on board as soon as she signs up. He has to know that if he doesn’t give her the go ahead to do anything it takes to stay in Mary Kay, he will be seen as unsupportive. In an attempt to make the husband believe Mary Kay is a real business (no, it’s not), a letter like the below is often sent out. This one is from nsd Linda Toupin.

Dear _________,

Just a note to say a warm and very heartfelt “Thank You” for sharing ________ with us, as she seeks to learn more about her wonderful opportunity in Mary Kay Cosmetics.  Your love and support of all she is trying to do means more to her than I can possibly convey!!

Mary Kay says that a woman with her husband behind her is a woman-and-a-half, and without him she’s half-a-woman.  Your support means that much to your wife.  She can do almost anything with your help, and almost nothing without it!

The reason most people join Mary Kay Cosmetics is at first to make extra money.  However, because of the great opportunity to help others, _________ will get a tremendous amount of self-satisfaction from her job.  Put this together with joint planning, and her new career can be anything from a little extra spending money all the way to a business for both of you. Many of our consultants are contributing sizable paychecks to the family budget. There’s not a week goes by that I don’t receive some exciting news of how that “Mary Kay” money helped pay for those long awaited braces, for a down payment on a new car, new carpet for the living room, or just helped make a dent in those pressing credit card bills.

Weekly and daily activity is vitally important to any business.  Please encourage Nancy to attend all her business meetings — it’s the LIFELINE to keeping positive and productive each week.  “Teaching skin care” is her business, and we never stop learning.

Inventory is a decision you both may jointly consider.  It is really beneficial to begin any business with merchandise, and Mary Kay is no exception.  Having to deliver product here and there wastes time, gas, and ultimately money.  The best way to start is on a profit level with borrowed capital from the bank or low interest credit card.  Her monthly payment will be made from her profits each month, that way not interfering with the family budget. However ________ starts her business, it is my role to teach her how to sell her products and manage her money wisely.

I look forward to meeting you in the near future.  If you have any questions concerning ________’s business, please feel free to contact me at 812-256-1528.  Also, feel free to join us at any of our unit functions.  We’re looking forward to sharing with you your wife’s steps up the ladder of success! ________________self-belief and your belief in her will help her achieve whatever she desires for herself and your family!

Sincerely,

Linda

  1. “Mary Kay says that a woman with her husband behind her is a woman-and-a-half, and without him she’s half-a-woman.”

Am I to understand that Mary Kay believes women are only half-people? Like, 1 woman=0.5 humans? As In, .5 human+1 husband=1.5 human, and 1.5 human-husband=0.5 human? Seriously?

Tell me about empowering women again?

  2. And according to her Facebook status, she is single. I would love to know how husbands respond to this type of letter.

    • Why would Linda keep using a letter to husbands when she’s divorced? I’m not taking relationship advice from her. She got divorced a few years ago. She needs to stop with this whole thing.

    • It’s obviously for husbands at the very start of a wife’s suffering. MKrap preys on husbands’ desire to support their wives, even if things don’t just seem right…

She left her phone number in there – maybe this husband should give her a call and let her know what he thinks about MKrap…

      {evil grin}

  3. hmmm I wonder why the jobs I’ve held over my lifetime never sent out a letter like this one? First to my dad and then, after I got married, to my Husband? Seriously, this is so unprofessional and patronizing to the “little woman”.

    • If MK was a legit, duplicatable business with thriving people, you’d never have to ask a husband to help or support. He’d gladly jump in to help because he’d see the money flowing in! Such BS!

  4. “She can do almost anything with your help, and almost nothing without it!”

How anti-woman of them. So empowering!

  5. One day soon, someone’s husband is going to write a letter rebutting this nonsense, post it on social media and embarrass Ms. Linda Toupin. This letter is a PR disaster.

  6. FIXED IT FOR YOU!
