Who is Selling Mary Kay Products?

We’ve heard it before! You don’t have to recruit in Mary Kay. You can make a good income simply from selling the products. Recently we looked at a Cadillac unit that was failing miserably at selling enough products make a good income.  Their top person ordered enough to make about $668 per month profit if we pretend she sold all of that product. (Of course, we know she didn’t sell it all.)

This week we take a look at the Heather McKinney unit. The queen of sales ordered $1,556 for the month of January 2018. If we assume 30% profit on that, she had the potential to make $466. Again, that’s only if she sold everything she ordered. A couple of consultants were in the $1,100 range, and the rest fell below $1,000 for the month.

The numbers are obviously dismal, but we’ve seen this time and again. It’s nearly impossible to profit selling MLM products, much less make an actual living from doing so. As choices for consumers have expanded with the internet, it’s made the Mary Kay scam even harder.  Between pricing issues (MK is expensive for the level of quality), the amount of competitors selling the exact same products right next to you, and the whole party plan and recruiting racket that everyone is sick of…. it’s no wonder that the number of consultants and sales directors in the U.S. has been falling for years.

  1. This newsletters are really a trap for Director’s and NSD’s…on the one hand, they have to “sell” all the recognition they can…and on the other hand, all the proof you need to see that their promises and “all you have to do” scenario’s are nonsense.

When one of my sharpest consultants starting pointing out our Unit’s real results, I could only fall back on the “well each person gets out what they put in” objection covering script. All it takes for reality to dawn, is one old timer saying, ” You know what? This never changes.”

    • I’ve been off the pink radar for about 8 years now. I thought for sure the pink racket would have died down by now. But from the looks of things, some folks are still choking on the pink poison. I see the one or two pink Caddillacs riding around town and think about the co-pays they are probably paying or the products they have to stock up on just to keep up appearances. Glad I’m out of that race

    • I was one of those “old timers” who finally saw the light. During DIQ, and after 16 years on the crazy hamster wheel, I quit cold turkey. That was 5 years ago.

      Best. Decision. EVERRRRR!!!!!!

    • And remember the 132 are non-terminated, meaning they’ve ordered in the last 6 months. It doesn’t include all ther others who haven’t ordered in that timeframe.

      • Are they? I wouldn’t put it past her to include terminated consultants in the 132 count, knowing that they can be brought back to life for a small reinstatement fee.

    • With only 5 Red Jackets there’s obviously little or no recruiting happening. So where did the 132 come from?

Most likely they’re a lot of inactive Personal Use consultants. Sad.

  2. 1 new recruit for 132 consultants. Maybe people are starting to see the light and boycotting MLMs! We can only hope.

    • A unit adding only 1 is really going backwards. I KNOW people have caught on because we all started to feel it happening about 10 years ago.

    • I just saw a headline that read: “More Millenials than Seniors Losing Money to Scams.”

Made me think of all the It Works and Plexus videos and Google hangouts I see where everyone is in their 20s, all look and dress the same, and have babies crying in the background. “Training” consists of how to tweet, post, like, and follow thousands of strangers online to get “business partners.”

I listened to a R+F video where the head-honcho said, if you earn your R+F car, you need to invite everyone you know to the car pickup party. She said, “It’s more than a celebration. It’s a business-building opportunity.”

      Don’t get scammed.

  3. Oh how cute! She made a PDF for her pink dreams!
You know what is a clear and obvious indicator that Mary Kay is on it’s way out? I haven’t seen a MK car in years! Well, two cars in almost 5 years. And I live in the greater Seattle area.

    • I used to live in the northern suburbs of Chicago where there was one SSD who drove pink for many years. Hers was the only pink Cadillac around. I’ve lived in South Florida for 3 years now, haven’t seen even one!
