Mary Kay Isn’t All Bad

A Mary Kay consultant tells us we’re wrong. Mary Kay isn’t that bad. It’s just a few bad people. And you were lied to because you ALLOWED yourself to be lied to.

Mary Kay is not as bad as you had imagined… It only reflects the kind of leadership you are in… Like anything under the sun, electricity can be bad cause I can kill you with that. In other ways, in can be good too, because with electricity I can now use my laptop to make a comment on this blog…hehehe Same with Mary Kay… Mary Kay is neutral… It can either be good or bad…

Yeah! I can see there are some bad practices Sales Directors and National Sales Directors that are creating this negative image… And it is Dishonesty…

I have been a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant for 4 years now.. I have friends who are Sales Directors already but I chose not to go for Directorship at this time of my life and I’ll tell you why… 🙂

It takes a whole lot of awareness to be a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant and pray to God that your Sales Director has Integrity in doing business with you. 🙂

    • You are only deceived because you allowed the person to deceive you. Ouch! Yes, truth hurts and I realized this too… If you said No, there’s nothing they can do to you. If they insist, be persistent with your No, too.
    • Your Sales Director can only suggest that you Move Up but it is still up to you if you want to move up. In my case, my Sales Director encourages me to be one of them already but I said I am not ready yet. I only violate one of Mary Kay’s philosophy that is God First, Family Second, Career Third… My baby is still 3 months old so it’s a No No for now… My SD has nothing to do but to wait for me to decide when I am ready… Good thing, she respects my decision. 🙂
    • Directorship journey should not be forced. If you feel it inside you that you’re not ready yet. Tell your SD honestly like what I did. Because even if you passed the DIQ Level, once you become SD, you will be having a hard time keeping up with the target unit sales…hehehe
    • Fake it till you make it… I also disagree with this quote… You cannot fake something because someone might recognize you’re faking it. It’s my experience by the way. You need to be honest with your customers and friends. Also, realize that we have this so called Money Blueprint – this will tell you how much money can you keep inside your bank account or whatever… For ordinary person, like me, my money blueprint is only for ordinary person. This will take more years of personality development inside me to get a SD income without any faking or dishonesty along the process. Because, income or earnings is directly proportional to your personality development. That’s why managers or business owners are paid high. And don’t expect right away that you can sell easily your beloved Mary Kay products. It takes time to know the product and experience the product yourself. 🙂
  • That’s why it is important to choose your recruiter more importantly your SD, to what unit you belong. Because in my case, I really decide to transfer to a new SD because my old SD and his unit members are hypocrite I should say…hahaha!!!
  • Why Mary Kay after all this and actually there are more… Because, at the time when I was having depression only Mary Kay gave me income that I can still eat a decent food. If I go to work, no one will hire because of my depression.. And if they did, I cannot manage to stay long with my job…

You are only deceived because you allowed the person to deceive you.
Victim shaming at it’s finest. You were only raped because you allowed the person to rape you. You were only robbed because you allowed the person to rob you. No, I was deceived because the person deceived me – that is their action and bad behavior, not mine.

Everything after that assinine statement loses all credibility.

As someone who went farther than you have and has insight and experience from backstage and Director meetings, etc., I acknowledge you’re naive. You have NO idea what is really happening beyond your sight.

We have all been lied to—even you. Think your Director makes an “executive income”? Check again. If she’s not in a Cadillac, she’s making a gross profit of less than $48,000/year, which is NOWHERE near what any executive makes.

It’s not all unicorns and rainbows in MK, and it hasn’t been for at least 20 years or more. It was extremely hard to read your comments because, once again and like so many in MK right now, your grammar is worse than some 10 year olds I know. Just remember, when you’re lied to and harnessed by a lasso tempting you with better things than you have in your life, you become a victim. Like PeachyNotPink said above, it’s NEVER a victim’s fault.

Have a nice day trying to see those $70 face masks!

These people are crazy. Depression keeps her from working yet she has a baby. A baby is a lot of work. She thinks that they care about her as a person, stop having orders and see how much they care. I keep in contact with 2 people from my time with Mary Kay- almost 10 years, and one is my forever friend, the other is becoming my forever friend.

  4. If we declare every woman must constantly protect herself and her interests from MK deception, then we have no choice than to admit it is not a company devoted to supporting women.

You’re technically right, we technically are the ones who choose to give in to pressure.

That does not excuse the very behavior of pressuring.

Someone pointing a gun at your head asking for money is pressure. The difference here is Mary Kay is a con game and creates willing-victims. It’s all an illusion to convince people to WILLINGLY hand over their money. For example, she is willingly participating in a pyramid scheme, doesn’t know it, and defends it. She mistakenly thinks her “choice” of not going for director exonerates her from being a pyramid scheme participant.

This silly woman thinks she has it all figured out and can outsmart the con game. One might argue that that is the con man’s greatest achievement – getting the mark to dissect the game and get wrapped up in details. It plays to one’s ego and the victim forgets or gets distracted, and it becomes more real to them. They think they can fix it, do it better, and become part of the exercise. The con man’s exercise!

“Occam’s razor” is the problem-solving principle that essentially states that “simpler solutions are more likely to be correct than complex ones.” When presented with competing hypotheses to solve a problem, one should select the solution with the fewest assumptions.”

Keeping it simple. MLM = pyramid scheme. 99% lose money and the 1% are top liars. This, proven fact over and over again and no secret mathematically. It is the belief and brainwashing that trips people up, i.e. the many assumptions.

The biggest piece honest people miss with regard to MLM is the company would cease to prosper without top liars.

What is with all the hehehe? She thinks she is so smart ! You all were only deceived b/c you allowed them to deceive you? What kind of crap is that? Isn’t one of the 10 commadments “Thou shalt not bear false witness”? Isn’t saying crap like “you will sell it”, “part time hours, for full time income, MK sells itself, blah, blah, blah all bearing false witness and also isn’t showing your high check from 10 years ago bearing false witness? It takes time to know the product and experience the product? What kind of crapola statement is that. When I try a product I know if I like it or not. MK is substandard makeup and skin care for an outrageous price. I can go to Clinique, Estee Lauder, Sephora, Ulta, etc and do better and am not pressured to have a party and annoy all my friends. The OP thinks she is so funny and so perfect, and I agree she is using the “blame the victim mentality. hehehe hahaha

THIS…I don’t believe you can change who your recruiter and SD is once you join. I’m only aware of being adopted by a unit if you don’t live close to your own unit. Your recruiter will always be the person who recruited you.

Please tell me how you investigate who you recruit with and as you say, more importantly your SD, when newbies have no idea how the MK pyramid works? There is purposeful obsfucation.

This letter writer is still naive and trusting. Let’s hope she sees the light before she’s thoroughly indoctrinated in Blame The Victim – herself. Investigating your future recruiter is even harder than getting the facts about inventory frontloading.

She CAN’T change her Director. She can’t fire her Director. She can’t change which Director collects the commission on her purchases. The Director who is in her original upline is the Director who will always be in her upline.

Until, of course, her Director runs out of money and “steps down.” Then her commissions will be reassigned to the next Director above her.

Oh sure, she can try to get another Director to adopt her. But her adoptee Director will never collect a commission on any of her purchases, so she’ll have little interest in her. And there’s nothing that can ever fix that problem.

This is based upon lie after lie. MK herself began this deception with this being dual marketing (When it actually is mlm). They mention executive income which hasn’t been happening for decades. The training is not free. Products don’t fly off the shelves. This narcissistic, grandiose exploitation of others is shameful.

“Because, at the time when I was having depression only Mary Kay gave me income that I can still eat a decent food. If I go to work, no one will hire because of my depression.. And if they did, I cannot manage to stay long with my job…”

MK offers no health insurance benefits at all by which this person could actually receive effective medical treatment for their depression. And no maternity leave benefits.

She has a 3 month old baby? PPD is no joke.

Preying on depressed people is low.

    1. TRACY

Depression prevents you from working a traditional job, but you can work Mary Kay? Work is work. I can’t imagine being excited to work MK in order to make no money.
