Mary Kay Canadian Commissions Down

A common way to evaluate businesses is to do a “year on year” comparison to see if business is up, down, or holding steady from one year or decade to the next. The news from Mary Kay Canada is bad. Really bad. In a decade, commission income for the majority of the consultants dropped to half what it was in 1999, and the sales directors have also seen a decrease in commission income.

Canadian law requires MLMs to report some income for their recruits. The MLMs do not track sales, but they do know what they pay out in commissions.

Mary Kay Inc. reports annual statistics on consultants, directors, and commissions for Canada. Check out the latest…

2010:

The vast majority of the independent sales force members’ primary source of profit is selling product. In addition, all Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants can earn income from commissions, dovetailing, prizes and awards. To be eligible for commissions, Independent Beauty Consultants must be active themselves and have at least one active recruit during the relevant period. Members of the independent sales force are considered active in a particular month (and for two months after) when they place at least $200.00 in wholesale orders for cosmetics intended for resale during the month.

A Mary Kay Director Tells Her Unit Members the Truth

Written by TRACY on . Posted in Canada, Quitting Mary Kay

This is the email a Canadian Pink Truth member sent to all of her Mary Kay unit members. I am impressed by her strength of character and her willingness to put it all on the table. We are honored to have her as one of our members.

It is with sadness that I write this email to you.  I apologize in advance, I wish I could explain this to you in person because an email doesn’t give you the tone of my voice and seems so impersonal, but I didn’t know how else to connect with over 30 people about the same issue.

Canadian Mary Kay Consultants Are Now Considered Telemarketers

Canada now has a “Do Not Call List”, and Mary Kay Inc. is advising consultants that they are subject to it. The way I read MK’s explanation, if a consultant in Canada wants to call “referrals,” they’re going to have to register and pay a fee. There are a few options for the fees , but it seems like it could get expensive!
The United States has Do Not Call laws too, but Mary Kay consultants have decided that the law doesn’t apply to them. After all, they’re selling MK, and surely lawmakers didn’t mean for the law to apply to them. Look for Canadian sales directors to start sending out emails with tips for violating this law in Canada. If you have any, I’d love to see them and post them here.

Every company uses them… the fine print at the bottom of the page. They tell a lot about the limitations on your life insurance, the warranty on your VCR and even how much money you will make.

wea·sel words. plural noun. Definition:. misleading language: deliberately misleading or ambiguous language ( informal). (from MSN Encarta)

But your income in weasel words???
