False Recruting Information in Mary Kay

Written by TRACY. Posted in Recruiting

False information provided when recruiting new members to Mary Kay is not new. It has been going on for years. Here is another example of misinformation on a Mary Kay sales director’s website, with our comments in italics.

Mary Kay Facts….Did You Know?

Mary Kay is #1 in brand loyalty among customers who buy skin care products. Three out of five women will buy the product after being introduced to it. It is estimated that 80% will continue to use the Skin Care after they have been introduced to the product —

Mary Kay Warm Chatter Training (Part 3 of 3)

You’ve got her exactly where you want her. Cornered. And she can’t escape from your magical Mary Kay powers. If she’s like most other victims you’ve approached in public and tried to strong-arm into a facial, she’s saying no.

But here is your answer to every possible objection she may have:

WARM CHATTER TRAINING
Part Three: Keep Your Cool

Mary Kay Warm Chatter Training (Part 1 of 3)

Written by TRACY. Posted in Recruiting

“Warm Chatter” is a favorite tactic of aggressive Mary Kay recruiters. It involves approaching people in public to harass them about Mary Kay. This is the first in a three part series detailing tactics used to warm chatter.

I have never, ever been a fan of “warm chatter” in Mary Kay. Warm chatter is the process of looking for potential recruits or hostesses while in public. You are supposed to “give a sincere compliment” or find some other “legitimate” way of initiating conversation in an attempt to talk about Mary Kay.

A Little Market Research Conducted By One of Our Members

Written by TRACY. Posted in Recruiting

It may not be scientific research, but this survey of 130 women by PinkRealityBites is very telling.

She chose to speak to a wide variety of women, including professionals, soccer moms and retired women. Her methodology was simple. She used the “sharp woman” and “face model” approaches.

After doing the official warm chatter, she told the women than she was using a standard spiel that was meant to get them to hold a Mary Kay skin care class or facial or accompany her to weekly meeting with a facial and a hard-sell recruiting talk. PinkRealityBites then explained that she was doing a research paper for school and she selected this topic because she was an independent beauty consultant having a hard time with many of the suggested sales and recruiting tactics.

An Outsider’s Perspective on a Mary Kay “Face Model” Event

Written by TRACY. Posted in Recruiting

Did you ever wonder what potential recruits think of Mary Kay events? Here’s one perspective.

I discovered this post on a MySpace blog and thought that it was very perceptive. Do Mary Kay consultants and directors ever, ever stop to think about how others perceive them? I guess not. That might be negative, and we wouldn’t want that! God forbid that they have a little self-awareness and admit how stupid they look!

This blogger’s friend “won” a facial, which was really the same old ploy for getting women to come to meetings so they can be recruited. Amazing how quickly the two saw through it all though!

Recruting Mary Kay Consultants at Funerals

Written by TRACY. Posted in Recruiting

You heard about recruiting for Mary Kay Cosmetics at funerals, but you wondered if it was just an urban legend. Well, sadly, it’s not.

Sales directors are notorious for wearing their “sales director pin” to funerals in an attempt to look for victims there. Generally, people are vulnerable at an event such as a funeral, so it’s a perfect time to swoop in like a vulture.

Layering and Personality Types

Written by TRACY. Posted in Recruiting

Layering is a technique in which you keep contacting a potential recruit with recruiting information every few months until they tell you to jump off a cliff or sign up to be a Mary Kay consultant.

I recently came across a handout that recommends various techniques, depending upon the DISC personality type.

A letter to those who read but don’t post. Have you seen enough? Have the writings on Pink Truth mirrored your experience in Mary Kay? Is it time to make a change?

Dear Lurkers,

What will it take? What do we need to say to help you discover the truth about Mary Kay and your “chance” of success? There have been so many posts recently discussing everything from avoiding the expense of Seminar to the not so free cars, to NSD’s doing and saying whatever it takes to keep the directors in their area from jumping ship, to product changes… the list goes on and on. So, let’s talk about April production, shall we?
