This email is currently circulating among Mary Kay directors. The concept: We can't meet our goal for the seminar, so let's ask Mary Kay if we can cheat... i.e. Give us "double credit" so that all consultant orders to the company will count twice and we will get to the goal!

I just got off the phone with soon to be NIQ, Vivian Diaz and we were talking about whether or not the Company might give us DOUBLE CREDIT this month, so we got right on the phone and talked to Darrell Overcash's Assistant.  Her answer was "only one Director has requested it, so we haven't made plans for it."  That means, that if you want Double Credit, we can send an e-mail to Darrell Overcash's office and ask for it!  YEA!  Pass this on so more Directors know about it.

Here is the update on it (we must be on a similar list):
Dear Mary Kay

I spoke to Sean from the NSD trip! There will not be double credit for June!

1 of the many reasons why is due to the behind the scenes efforts that must take place weeks in advance before a program like that can be executed! Based on our conversation sending more emails will not help the situation!

We have all decided to make June the best month ever so let’s pull out all the stops and run the race set before us!

    Love you MILLIONS PLUS!
Guess June is tougher than these ladies realized. Time to dig out the citibank Visa and get to work, minions! We've got calls to make, credit limits to increase, and husbands to bamboozle! No time to waste!

  • maskedavonrep

I wonder how many MK husbands will be filing for divorces in July 2009? Maybe MK should start tracking this "success" figure.

  • PinkApostate

I wonder how long it will take Corpse to jump on the divorce bandwagon and team up with shadey law firm to offer special legal rates for all STARs seeking a way to rid themselves of the negative spouse in their lives?

  • The Artist

Darrel is lame and his office assistant gives the impression that he cares when he really doesn't. I've dealt with her before - she's very nice and then he never responds. I think he's an actor playing a role basically...I think you call that a puppet.

  • thinkingpinkstinks

Mary Kay doesn't want to give double credit because they want the Directors/IBCs to get those credit card movin' and shakin' into bigger and bigger debt. MK loses money when they offer such things. Those NSDs must be grinding their teeth and spitting out e-mails like crazy insisting that ordering must continue in a big way to make this the best year ever.

  • onelessSD

PinkApostate - that's funny! (a special legal rate for all STARS to jump start the divorce process of their 'unsupportive' husbands!)

But you know, there's a bit of truth in everything. I too got the same email like Ciavyn got and the hidden message was: "Crap, now I'm going to really have to sacrifice during the month of June and be the order Nazi!" 'let's run the race that's set before us', geez lady, if you wanted it so badly, you should have secured that extra line of credit months ago - be proactive - what were you thinking? - your unit will pull it through? HA!

  • mypuddin

onelessSD: Hi! I need some advice about returning MK inventory: Should I return it after the quarter is over (June 16) or will it matter regarding my SD's numbers? Also, Can I just send it to MKInc with calling their Repurchase department and then having my SD call me in tears? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • onelessSD

Hi Mypuddin' - I don't know if it will make a difference. It will make a difference for you if you've got this amount on a credit card that's collecting interest.

As far as sending it back, either way she'll contact you, I don't know if she'll be in tears or what, but you'll be contacted. But if you're determined to send it back, do it for your convenience not hers, it's your decision, not hers. Does that help? Being a prior SD, and going thru it as well, it didn't matter if I was notified or not, I still got mad at the time. Did I take it out on the consultant? I'm sure my anger came through, but I certainly didn't cry over it, hopefully yours won't either. Good luck!

  • puc4now

Mypuddin, if you call Repurchase they will tell you the dollar amount you can return and the date it must be returned by. You can return any items that total the dollar amount, not necessarily the exact items you purchased within a year. Use the Excel spreadsheet we have here by clicking on the "Return Inventory" tab at the top of the page. Repurchase will send you a return form, but it will take weeks to arrive, so you might as well use the return sheet on this site. They will call your SD immediately. Mine called me within hours wanting to divvy up my items to other IBC's to prevent a return. Ignore your SD, your recruiter and everybody who wants to prevent a chargeback. Turn the phone ringer off and don't answer their emails. Once MK has your stuff, it takes about 10 days to two weeks to receive your blue check. Send it all back ASAP and pay off your own debt. It's your business and your family you are concerned with, so blow off any crocodile tears from the MK crowd. Good luck and write back if you have any more questions.

  • been there

I used the above return sheet and was happy with how easy it was. My director had promised to purchase some items from me and I gave her 30 days until I realized that she could not order from me but had to keep ordering from MK to keep her numbers up. I have heard from consultants who said their Dir tried to buy time so maybe it went too long. My advice is to return it ASAP and never look back. When repurchase informs you several times that by doing buyback you can never be a MK consultant again thank her for that wonderful information. Just keep the focus and get while the getting is good. :cheer:
Her answer was "only one Director has requested it, so we haven't made plans for it."
That's the classic answer vendors give when you ask for something they're not going to give you. They claim you're the only one interested. Sometimes it's true, often not. In this case, I'd bet that's a lie.

I personally suspect the reason they didn't offer it again this year is, at least in part, because of the way we criticize when they do.

  • raisinberry

It doesn't make any difference. When you think about it, "double credit" is the elephant in the living room.

"Lets all pretend we really did this."

And there my little pretties, is mary kay in a nutshell.

  • PUNKEDBYPINK

Just got a message on my answering machine from my SD. I believe it was pre recorded. She want'a to break out unit's record and hit the $500,000 club, so she's offering all these incentives for a $200.00 wholesale. She said in her message that if she gets to the $500,000 level, she gets a $1000.00 bonus from the company that she wants to give back to us. OK, I haven't ordered since last August. This disturbs me because I KNOW she is a wonderful woman and has been there for me thru non MK related issues. I guess she is in so deep! She has been in MK since like '91 or '92 and has 1 offspring. She's had 3 or 4, but they lost their units. I would like to think that she is still at this level, because she is honest! She is one of Vicki Auth's offspring-who I hear is an expert frontloader. GOD! I hate this business!

  • raisinberry

punkedbypink...you hit it. The real problem for all of us here is that we generally liked our area's and the Director's we knew...it is just SICK that they can not see what they are doing! And, that they think We are the enemy! i hate that so many of them will go to the depths of debt before they crash and burn.

  • mypuddin

Thank you all so much for the wonderful info and advice. I will take care of this right away!! Thank you again ad take care!!

  • dupedbypinkfriend

Vickie Auth. Puke, Vomit and Puke some more. Ugh.....no wonder she lives in a "gated community". I believe she hides behind her gate in fear of the thousands of women she has deceived.

  • dupedbypinkfriend

Vickie Auth is also extremely overweight. While there are many reasons that a person becomes obese, I've often wondered if she overeats in an effort to soothe her soul, trying to forget that she lives a life of lies and manipulation.

  • chopportunity

Hey Mypuddin, keep us posted on how it goes. :)

Duped, so am I to believe that you are not fond of Vickie Auth? :D

  • mypuddin

    Absolutely will keep you posted!

  • ciavyn

Wow - how could you possibly be overweight in a business that depends on your appearance? I'm already a nut about my weight, but I can't imagine having to deal with all the crap in MK, AND having to compare yourself to all the anorexic women! That would be horrible.

  • PUNKEDBYPINK

She's probably a member of the "Go-Get" area. Go get something to eat!

  • vintagegold

Hey now, in defense of Vicki, Mary Kay products have estrogen-mimicking compounds that are highly absorbent through your skin, and can lead to weight gain and hormonal issues. These compounds are in many cosmetic/skin care brands, plastics, and even the food you eat, but they are more potent when you rub them on your skin, because they accumulate in the fatty tissue. When you eat them, your digestive system breaks them down more, but they still have an effect on weight.

  • pinkpunch
She's probably a member of the "Go-Get" area. Go get something to eat!
:woohoo:

I did notice that at some of the last scaminars (in the SD's classes) and at leaderships, there was a lot of talk about eating healthy and fitness "Taking better care of yourself" is what they called it. I knew that it was an indirect put down to all the the overweight SD's and NSD's to lose weight. They were making a big deal out of it trying to make it look like they care but in reality it was more about vanity and representing the company that's supposed to be about glamour and fashion "looking good" in the eye of the public.

Here's some examples of how my SD indirectly targeted her SD's....

We had an SD with a very small amount of facial hair (above the top lip) so every chance my SD got, she would bring up so called stories of other people having facial hair and how it looks bad and needs to be removed etc... she kept doing it infront of her until she got the message. Another SD had, kind of, yellowish teeth and so she kept talking about white smiles and how you can get them really white. She even suggested Crest stripes if you did not have the money to have it done by your dentist. These indirect things would continually be brought up when the targeted SD was around until they got the message.
BUT my SD was very overweight and she would say that you do not have to be any particular body shape/size to be successful as long as you were well put together. Meanwhile, she would be sporting a jacket that was 2 sizes too small!
    :0  :s :X

  • dupedbypinkfriend

I guess good 'ole Vicky didn't believe in CelluShape - cuz, ya know, that stuff really works. :0

Here's the most she ever gave me of her time, experience and brilliance: Go to Starbuck's and sit.

Wow! Such a gem of wisdom.

  • ciavyn

To be fair, pink, it's true. MK is a business based on appearance. Your job is to make every woman you meet with want to look like you (something very "Single White Female" about that, but I digress...). While I am very conscious about my weight - I have an eating disorder, so big surprise there - I do think good physical health is important. Especially as I get older and everything is starting to creak and groan!

However, these women in Mary Kay are held to such strict standards of appearance with suits that only look good on you if you are a rail, you'd have to be nuts to be bigger than a size 10 and have the nerve to show up at a meeting. They are all looking at you, baby, and thinking, she'd be pretty, if only she would lose the weight/get her teeth fixed/get surgery/_________ (fill in minor flaw here).

It HAS TO be that way. You couldn't possibly value someone for something more serious, like actual skills and talents outside of MK, because then, when she does something you are not allowed to agree with - say, question the processes of the business or the BS the NSD is twirling about their heads - you would have to wonder if she had a point. If you only value people for their fashion or appearance, you can immediately question her intelligence when she does something anti-MK, and turn your back without much thought.

I honestly believe that is why in MK you cannot discuss any hobbies or things you enjoy outside of it. It's why my area never stayed extra days at any of the leadership locations, never arrived early in Dallas - except to shop - and never got involved in anything together as good old-fashioned girlfriends. You get too close, too involved, and then if something goes wrong, the fall-out is much larger. If everyone only talks business and thinks that they never have anything else in common, when one falls, the others are easy to blindfold and drag back into the fold.

Gee, this isn't a cult. Nooooooooooooooo...

  • PUNKEDBYPINK

I didn't know Vicki persoanlly, but everytime I saw a picture of her she was bigger and bigger. I always thought that there was something more to it. God knows, I struggle with my weight,so I think thereis definately internal conflict of some kind! Maybe?

  • dupedbypinkfriend

If this is an appearance industry, then why, oh why do they recruit the gluttonous, the bland, and the ugly? :pinch:

The only thing fair about this company is the fair amount of debt you'll incur if you follow the business advice of these creeps.

  • pinkpunch

    Duped
You are so right! But they have to make them feel "Oh so special" to get them to use their credit card and then after they bought inventory they spend the rest of the time bursting that bubble trying to change their appearance. It scares a lot of them away. But who cares, I mean, they made production for the month or didn't have to pay for their car or made that months goal. I know there might be a chargeback but, oh well, it still got them through that month. So recruit everyone and anyone, right? :X

  • dupedbypinkfriend

Yep. And don't tell them what your "business" is like. Tell them what their "business" could be like! :X

  • onelessSD

what I hated about double credit is: KNOWING I didn't legitimately reach my goal! (but getting praised for it!) KNOWING that others racked up cc debt because of the double credit, instead of just working for it. It's disgusting.

The more I 'de-fog' the more I realized just how much manipulation is happening. :X

  • beefreeis4me

I've never heard of Dillard's, Wal-Mart, Macey's, or ANY store doubling their figures at the end of the month. That's 100% cheating. Goes to show you that Mary Kay is not a "REAL JOB." If companies doubled their figures at the end of each month, we would have a scandal bigger than Enron. That is exactaly what Enron did, they doubled and inflated their bottom line. You see what happend to Enron, maybe the same thing will happen to Mary Kay. I can't stand that company.

  • iwokeup

Contacted Repurchase today and asked for info. They were nice and I told them they would probably contact my SD. They said, "Yes, we give them a courtesy call." I shipped it back today. So far, no contact from the SD. I feel free!

  • puc4now

Yes, they are very pleasant and professional in Repurchase. They process the returns pretty quickly, too. Did you send it UPS or FedEx? If so, they give you a tracking number so you'll know when it reaches Dallas. It takes about 10 days to 2 weeks before your blue check arrives. Let us know when it does. :)

  • dupedbypinkfriend
"Yes, we give them a courtesy call." I shipped it back today. So far, no contact from the SD.
Yuk yuk yuk. :D Tomorrow's the day, most likely. If you don't receive your courtesy call, you should call to complain. :woohoo:

The Repurchase Dept. was extremely pleasant until I asked her to spell out her name for me. DJ? DW? Oooooh, she did not like that!

  • mypuddin

I sent it FedEx and insured it. Wouldn't it be ironic if FedEx loses it, they pay me the $1200.00, and I'm still technically a MK IBC? :s
Yuk yuk yuk. Tomorrow's the day, most likely. If you don't receive your courtesy call, you should call to complain.
Thanks for the warning. That's why God made Caller ID.

  • dupedbypinkfriend

Yeah, tell 'em you're still wearing your "Make me feel important" sign around your neck, and nobody in Mary Kay noticed! That's why you want your money back.

  • ciavyn

I was just thinking about this post - this is the essence of "fake it till we make it," isn't it? :cheer:

  • happywithmylife

To reply to the comment they never heard of any retailer doubling their sales at the end of the month.

From 1983-2001 I worked the Retail path with many major retailers (Dillards, Nordstroms, Bon Marche, Casual Corner, Lady's Foot Locker, Etc, Etc) and I can tell you that every single store will do an incentive like the double awards. It's part of retail sales - in the efforts to increase volume and to make it "look good for stock holders or investors" and that is a direct quote from my old store manager at Dillard's and Casual Corner.

Did it motivate the sales person? Rarely. Just made numbers look good and we got a few extra perks in the process (gift cards, etc).

It happens all the time, and MKC rides that wave.
