WOW! This is probably the one of the most sickening things I've seen from a company. How incredibly deceptive - to invite someone to a party with the implication of "good works" or charity and then this is what it actually means?!!! I'm truly speechless.
Make Money For Mary Kay Inc.
The company is very clear in describing Party With a Purpose to its directors. Don't be confused and think that proceeds are being donated to charity or anything of the sort. The purpose is to make money for Mary Kay Inc..... called "supporting a company whose mission is to enrich women’s lives."
At least this time the executives at Mary Kay Cosmetics are being truthful about their money grubbing ways.
Q: What exactly is the “purpose” behind “Party with a Purpose”? Are we raising money for The Mary Kay Foundation?
Party with a Purpose isn’t tied to The Mary Kay Foundation or any specific charitable cause. You might want to think about it this way: When you hold a Mary Kay party, you’re supporting a company that does good. Whether it’s through charitable acts of giving or helping women build a business to make their lives more enjoyable,
Mary Kay has a history of helping others. By holding more parties and reaching out to more women through the products and the opportunity, you’re helping them look and feel their best – and quite possibly begin a new business that offers them newfound freedom to balance their priorities. And whether they purchase one of the Beauty That CountsTM Mary Kay® Creme Lipsticks or any other of Mary Kay’s fabulous products, your customers can feel good about supporting a company whose mission is to enrich women’s lives.

How low can they sink? "Hold a party and support a company that does good."

If this weren't so sick, I'd be laughing, however, it's really no laughing matter, is it ladies?

National areas are crumbling all around. They are getting desperate in their attempt to keep the charade going. Almost every woman I know has had some sort of contact with a Mary Kay consultant. Eventually pyramids crumble because that kind of growth IS NOT SUSTAINABLE...You eventually run out of people.
Mary Kay has a terrible reputation now. Their cosmetics are not for the "sophisticated" woman, but are glittery and sparkly and look like something you buy in the girl's toy section of your local department store.
The old Day Radiance foundation actually made women's complexions look flawless, but the new stuff is little more than water and talc.
Consumers are more educated than ever, and people are very skeptical nowadays with scams around every corner.
When are they going to wake up and quit "bee-lieving" a lie?

The ones at the top of the pyramid need cash for their fancy lifestyles. I hope in my lifetime I get to see MK Corp. go out of business. Mary Kay Ash didn't deserve an award for anything, she deserved a jail term. Mary Kay Ash took brainwashing to a new level when she started this company and kept it going for many years. A con wooman disguised as a granny gets away with a lot of things. Even if I didn't get to experience a MK SD first hand in my neighborhood, I still can feel the evil that this company radiates. The marykay.com website states that the cosmetics are manufactured in Dallas and China. I'll bet the majority of the cosmetics are made in China and the workers are only getting paid 11 cents a day and living at poverty level so that the top of the pyramid rakes in the cash from the wholesale dollars. P.S. I am writing a letter to MK Corp. about my personal experience with one of their MK SD. I don't think it will change anything, because everything that is associated with MK is affected by malice. If you survive a long time with MK, you have to be the kind of person that perpetuates deceit.

Angelwoman - Sadly, what MK does is perfectly legal. Their representatives deceive women when recruiting (either directly with false information, or indirectly by not telling them the whole truth), but the company denies any responsibility because the representatives are "independent."
This kind of endless chain recruitment scheme is allowed to go on in the U.S., so we have to keep providing information to women about the TRUTH. It's the only way we can help them, since we can't stop MK.
These big MLMs are smart. They see their numbers in the U.S. slowly dwindling as the internet has made it easier for consumers to find the truth about these recruiting schemes. (Oh how I wish a site like PT existed when I was being recruited into MK!) The MLMs are aggressively pursuing overseas markets to make up for their declining recruitment in the U.S.
Mary Kay doesn't have to release any numbers because they're a private company, but you can be that if we got a peek at them, we'd see the growth the company has had over the last couple of years is because of China and India... while the U.S. sales are shrinking. I'd bet my last dollar on it.

"Party with a Purpose" seems to be the catch phrase all the party businesses are using these days. It means nothing.
-
07 Oct 2009 05:34 | Wiser now
This whole 5 million party thing has become a huge joke. They now are giving cheapo prizes to the top directors and consultants who have logged the most parties. HOWEVER...there is no proof required that you did these parties so right now I could enter that I did 1000 parties and probably win a cheapo prize. BTW the count is now up to 114,000. It is going up several thousand a day so I am guessing consultants are cheating left and right to win the trinkets that are being dangled so they look important at their meetings. It's all very pathetic and a silly gimmick.
-
07 Oct 2009 05:56 | recoveringmkaddict
I went on and added parties to see what would happen. The welcomed my entries even though they were fraudulant. There's no accountability.
They will let you add only numbers with double digits, but you can enter the numbers as often as you like.
I used to get so irritated at events when the same few women came in with their numbers and I knew they didn't do the work. They were put up front and awarded. I used to get so frustrated and the other Directors would just let it go.

Hey, I have a "history of helping others" so send all your money directly to ME - no sales or recruiting required!! FYI, ashholes at Corpse, no woman "looks and feels her best" while her bank account is being drained.
What part of SCAM don't you people understand?

did you notice there are no home parties for men, only women? my husband never gets invited to a cologne party or a beer tasting paper but i get invited to food parties and jewelery parties and of course in the past i have even been known to con my friends into having mary kay parties.

"National areas are crumbling all around. They are getting desperate in their attempt to keep the charade going."
For just 70 cents a day, you can support your poor, destitute NSD's lifestyle! Give her gifts, send her money, and worship at her feet...all because she taught so many how to manipulate and be just like her! In return, you'll get a used plastic t-shirt bag from the souvenir shop she blew through while visiting the French Riviera; can you get excited about that?

Maybe after the innocent "earns" the used T-shirt bag, she can find a great use for it. Frame it maybe or use it to trash her cat's dirty litter, as was suggested on the boards recently!

OK, ladies. I was almost just duped into the "30 faces in 30 days" by a new girl at our church. Does the PT site have a thread for customers (or almost customers)testimonies? Just wanted to state my experience with this chick who gave me a song and dance about the 30 days/faces and tied it into Breast Cancer Awareness month. I googled it, found this site and have been having fun with it since! But...from what I read, the "30 days" seems to be just another way to guilt your friends into lending their faces and the faces of their friends to their friendly MK consultant. Doesn't seem like it's connected with Breast Cancer Awareness Month at all (unless the consultant wants it to be). Am I wrong?

notapartyfan,
It really depends on the consultant. It is definately a "come on", and she may or may not donate anything....usually if she is a "mover and shaker" she is using the 30 faces in 30 days to meet recruitable women. If she is new, she has no idea she is being sucked into a pink cult cause all the women are JUST SO POSITIVE!!!! And somebody told her she needs to do it.
-
18 Oct 2009 13:01 | puc4now
No, you're not wrong. The "30 faces in 30 days" contest has been around for umpteen years, as well as the "would you be a face model for me as a part of my training," the "I'm in a contest to win....and could you do me a favor?" and the "could I get your opinion on Mary Kay's newest blah blah blah." The hokey come-ons never end and it's all to deliver you to her SD who WILL recruit you into the MK pyramid. She doesn't want to sell you a lipstick; she wants to sell you an $1800 inventory package. Stay the hell away from this chick. If you see her in church, douse her with holy water and whip out a crucifix and yell, "Get thee behind me, Satan!"
Cute angle with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month crap. Tell her you know MK's ingredients are carcinogenic and you wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

notapartyfan:
I've seen handouts that tell consultants how to offer women undergoing chemo treatments "free" facials and/or color makeovers to make them feel better.
It's nothing more than another way to get new faces of the patient's family, friends, medical staff, or anyone at the facility.
And yes, it's disgusting as all hell!

Haha, thanks puc. I'm not Catholic, but I would convert if I could do that!
This new member at our church sent me a Facebook friend invite, and I thought, "she's a little kooky, but why not?" She sent me a message through FB about the 30 day thing, and I ignored it, thinking she's sending it to everybody and it wouldn't require a response. Then she approached me at church asking if I had gotten the message, told her yeah, but I had been busy, blah, blah, blah. Told her there were a few things I liked from MK, but I wasn't in the market to start a new skin care routine, so I'd rather not. Then....she said (and kept this very low key) that the only reason she was in MK was because her mother died of breast cancer, and she was a victim of abuse, which MK suppports both causes. She even downplayed her MK role, saying that she uses some of the products, but mainly in it for that reason. Well...the cancer thing tugged at my heartstrings, and I thought, what would one afteroon getting a facial hurt, right? So I set up a time that week for her to come over and give ME a facial, knowing that I'd probably buy a couple of things from her. The day before, I emailed her directions to my house and said (since she was coming from beauty school) "Should I make us a little something to eat?" (I guess I was in the Sunday School/church mode, you know we have to do that!) She emailed me back, "I'll be bringing refreshments. It would help me out so much to meet my goal if you would invite some of your friends to come as well. Let me know how many will be there so I know how many refreshments to bring." I was stunned! She was asking me to throw together a party for her! After stewing for about 5 minutes, I sent her a polite but firm email and cancelled. Told her my first instinct was not to do this and I should have stuck with that, that I have drawers full of makeup and I felt like allowing her to do a facial on me just because MK would donate to a cause (which now I've discovered isn't really true) wasn't a good enough reason to waste both of our times. I ended the email on a positive note and got a nice reply from her. We'll see how it all pans out!
OK, that's my story, and how I came to this site. I came feeling guilty over this whole matter (still the church thing, you know!), but now I know that she was pulling some tired MLM tricks on me (not only MK, I'm sure). If the subject comes up between us, I'm going to direct her here. She need intervention!

All of you really need to get a life. I get a kick out of reading these posts on Mary Kay. If you were a Consultant or know someone that was a Consultant, if the opportunity didn't work for you or her, then you probably thought it was a "get rick quick" scheme. You didn't want to put forth the time and effort to have a business to be honest with you.
Check the history ladies...Mary Kay has the most female millionaires in company history. When you do hold a "Party With a Purpose" you are supporting a company that does good. You have no problem with going to Wal-Mart or anything like that...what are they doing for the community or what charity are they helping? They're helping themselves.
Mary Kay Inc believes in helping other women. You all may not think so because you're only thinking about yourselves and what you would be able to get out of them. When you help other people, you do in fact help yourselves. Duh! Who didn't know that?! Its called pay it forward, do unto others. Go read a book or something. Our skin care and makeup is awesome! Stop hating. If you want to buy other products...by all means! We're not saying that you HAVE to buy from Mary Kay. There's no need to bad mouth the company though. If you had a bad experience with a Consultant, take that issue up with a Consultant. We're INDEPENDENT Beauty Consultants...GET IT RIGHT and GET A LIFE!

Welcome to PT mke,
Please ask yourself this question- Do you supply MK with any of your income and expense sheets? Do you supply MK with your Schedule C's at the end of the year? Well, neither does anyone else. MK gives out placques to those who have RECEIVED $1,000,000 in commissions- this does NOT mean they are millionaires. Check your own Social Security Statement you receive each year. I added up both my husband and I's incomes over the last 25-32 years and we have both received over $1,000,000 in compensation from our employers- does that make us millionaires...... NO!!!!
Now please help me understand why you are on this site? How did you hear about the site? HOw long were you on reading before you posted? HOw long have you been in MK? What level are you- consultant, Sr. C, RJ, TL, Car driver, or Director? Have you been in long enough to fill out a Schedule C? If so, please share (black out name, address, SSN). Have you gone to Seminar? Career conference? Fall Advances? Guest events? What is the MAIN focus at all of them-- is the trainig focused on selling products or recruiting?
Now that you have come to PT and have posted at least once, please come back and READ many stories on here. You will probably start seeing a common theme.
Thank you,
gettingoutofdebt (yes over $75,000 in MK debt)

Oh how I love the "end-of-the-month" babble from a troll.
All of you really need to get a life.
So you are saying that because we share and warn others about our experiences of manipulation, lies told and debt it will incur, that we do not have a life?
If you do not like what you are reading, about our experiences, then I suggest you get a life and stop reading here if our experiences bother you!
Oh, the foolishness that comes out of these brainwashed kaybots.
I get a kick out of reading these posts on Mary Kay.
Mary Kay will surely return a kick to you! It's only a matter of time.
If you were a Consultant
No, I was an SSD and odds are that I know 100 times more then you. Until you've traveled the path that I've traveled and have the knowledge that I do, your pro MK opinion is useless, here.
It's like you're at the preschool level, when speaking about MK, and I'm at the college level.
a "get rick quick" scheme.
Get rick quick, huh? Do you mean, as in Richard Rogers? I suppose that, by us warning others about the multi-level pyramid scheme that MK truly is, we will get to rick (aka Richard) quick. Just not quick enough, though.
Check the history ladies...Mary Kay has the most female millionaires in company history.
Please list all of these many millionaires. I know you wont because you can't.
When you do hold a "Party With a Purpose" you are supporting a company that does good.
Are you talking about the Mary Ash foundation that raises money for cancers that effect women? Maybe you need to spend a little time looking up all of the ingredients in your MK products. You may find that some of their ingredients are cancer causing ingredients. My girlfriend's oncologist (cancer doctor) told her to stay away from the products! I suggest you keep your ash hole shut til you read about that.
You have no problem with going to Wal-Mart or anything like that...what are they doing for the community or what charity are they helping? They're helping themselves.
Really? Are you saying that none of these companies do good for the community or give to charities? Are you sure about that? Do you even know what you're talking about? Obviously, you are completely clueless.
BTW, not to mention, that Wal-Mart and others supply their people (employees) with health benefits, life insurance etc...
Mary Kay Inc believes in helping other women. You all may not think so because you're only thinking about yourselves and what you would be able to get out of them.
What in carnations are you even talking about? We are only thinking about ourselves and what we are trying to get out of them????
Do you realize that you didn't make a bit of sense?
So what exactly are we trying to get out of them?
When you help other people, you do in fact help yourselves. Duh!
When you are trying to get a point across and use the word "Duh" you've completely discredited yourself because you've just proved to be an immature idiot.
Now going back to what you've said....It seems, in MK, that they only pray for monetary wishes for themselves/their business. Doing good for others doesn't necessarily mean that God is going to bless your business and bring in boat loads of money for you.
Its called pay it forward, do unto others.
I'm sure you are paying it forward. It goes right into your SD's commission check.
Go read a book or something.
I'm very confident that it's you who needs to read a lot more because it's obvious that you are completely clueless and brainwashed.
Here read this and check out all of the signs that meet the MK way... www.howcultswork.com
Once again, this is proof that you are completely clueless.
We were IBCs, SDs, SSDs and higher, on PT.
We talk about what the company has allowed to happen, to women. It's the companies responsibility. We were not dealing with a consultant? I can't believe that I even have to explain that one!
I believe that you need to get it right. I also believe that you need to get a REAL life.

GOOD FOR YOUR PINKPUNCH!! She is still in the pink fog and hasn't been hurt yet. Her debt hasn't caught up to her yet and she is still thinking that one day she will REALLY be making the money. It is like they say just give it a little more time, something magical happens after DIQ, and when it doesn't oh well something magical happens after your first year as a director, blah, she will realize ONE DAY like all of us have. We, on pink truth, need to be grateful that we have ALREADY figuired it out. I'm about 3 weeks away from doing the blue check boggie and I'm soooooo thankful for this site for making me realize that I am not the only one who was taken advantage of. What a fogged kaybot! Good for you, PinkPunch, you were articulate and correct in your response. Unfortunately, the kaybot contributing her opinion is blissfully unaware of what is going on in the company she so proudly represents.
Maybe she will spend some time reading about the experiences we've had and shared here on Pink Truth.
Or, maybe not.
