Emerald Director Debuts at Mary Kay Seminar 2009

Funny thing is I know EXACTLY where I was standing in the 2006 photo!!! UGH

It looks like a few more SDs debuted this year . . . but only by a few. Its still sad to image that most if not all of them will face financial ruin, family relationship problems, and will bring more recruits on board to do the same. Sad, sad, sad.

Lighter - I thought the same thing until I looked closer at the women on the steps. They're spaced out a LOT this year...

Click on the picture to see it full size. Then look at the left staircase. There is a huge space in the middle with no women.

I think there are actually LESS directors this year.

There's definately less directors this year. The directors are placed on every other step and last year they were placed on every step. Like I said before, it's the MK illusion. When you click on the picture and see it full size you can see that they are not on every step this year. The directors that were supposed to be on the first step are also on the stage floor, standing in front of the step, making the line on stage to appear to be a longer. This is the only year that they stood in front of the first step instead of on it.
Also, look at the 2007 pic and count the legs on the first step...I count 6 per step but on the 2008 & 2009 pic there's only 4 per step. If you look at the stair case, on the left of 2009, there appears to be more but it's b/c they are standing on the floor included in the row on the floor.

Do they rehearse this, or in any way tell people where to stand?

Yep, Lazy, everybody is choreographed and lined up back stage. There's about 88 ladies debuting from what would have been march thru June...who still had enough space to afford Seminar. There were over 200 in my debut class finishing within the same two months!

This brings me so much joy it's kind of sick- I absolutely LOVE it! I love seeing how every year it is more of a disaster for MK Corpse. The company crumbling away piece by piece... Let them put THAT in their pipe and smoke it!

Yes, raisinberry is right. The whole thing is choreographed. While you are lined up, there are people walking back and forth telling you what you need to do. When you get to the backstage stairs someone else is telling you, again, what you need to do and then when you are right behind the wall, waiting to walk through the door, to enter the stage, you get one last reminder.

Tracy, you are right. I did my best to count heads and there around between 84 to 88 this year and slightly more in 2008. Its clever how they place the SDs on the stairs to appear like there are more of them than last year. Why am I not surprised. Deception is the name of the game.

The good thing is that there are less directors from previous years. Lets hope the trend continues.

OH, all is talk of behind stage at seminar is making me remember the MKC staff barking orders and constantly putting us back in "line" like little children....but the thing I miss the most is the CLICKERS! You know, the clickers that they used to count, recount and count again?!!!!!

With So few, they didn't even have to line them up that way..they could have walked them out and introduced them to make it appear more dramatic. It is just weird how locked in step they are. They would rather make it "appear" as the same year to year, rather than to face the reality and change the segment entirely. It is just crazy how they are so fearful of anything appearing "negative"

BTW - you know how they make you order $2,400. wholesale to guarantee "Arena Seating"? WHAT a sham! They didn't even open "Hall A" this year because the attendance was down. So everyone got to sit in the Arena but SOME paid $2400. for the luxury.

Here's a question - is your order on the stage based on your numbers as you finished DIQ? It seems like the ladies at the top of the steps get the shaft as far as exposure (one of the many times in their MK career they will get the shaft, I know ).

Wow....On baby, talk about being taken to the cleaners on your product order!
They'll justify it all, as in every case, with the words, "you'll sell it!".

You may sell some of it, but not before the NEW line comes out. If my Director pushed me to order so I could "capture the real magic of arena seating"...and nobody ELSE had to order at that level to be there, her integrity would be shot.

One of these days, MK will figure out that everything they do..and I mean everything, sabotages the business of both the consultant and her Director. The Director is not free to tell the truth because she needs the production, and the consultant begins to see the fraud and manipulation thats being used on her---leading to disgust.

Secrecy is the ONLY thing that has kept this MLM in operation.

I wonder if they're so careful about these pictures because they know we will be comparing them here at PT.

I just looked carefully at all the pictures and noticed that the left side of 2009 has 7 women on the floor and skips about three stairs before spacing the continuing rows. The right side has only four spaced out directors and skips two stairs. There are fewer directors on the left side and very strategically placed to appear full. I should have known all along it was pure deception from start to finish. I did however notice a big difference from 2007-2008 when my house of cards was crumbling...

The backdrop is moved forward, women are strategically positioned so that the stage appears more full. More lies and more deception.

Is there ANYTHING about Mary Kay that is on the up-and-up?

WHAT!!!?? Seriously!! No Hall A. I that means a HUGE-OLA drop in attendance. I only went to seminar 3 times, one as a dirctor, and all times Hall was had almost as much as Arena! I cannot believe that! Wow... times are-a-changin' in the World of Pink! ((Oops! can I use that word "pink" here???)) You know.. MKC owns that word, now, don't they?

Yea they'll blame the economy, but let's face it. There's no more credit...and with no more credit, Geez, women will have to SELL SOMETHING to order! And we all know what that means.

Next year watch--all the seminars under one roof on the same week.

That would be awesome, Raisin!!! Or they would actually have to move it to a smaller venue! What a delicious thought!

boy I agree - all seminars at one time?! that would be something! I agree though, with the economy in the state that it's in, it's much tougher to sell, recruit, etc. and with credit going away almost completely, good luck front-loading! HA! (that felt good!!!)

I debuted at leadership-- there were so many directors they did several "debuts" Used to do them at career conference too... and still the stage was full at seminar. The "bridge" was placed so the directors we on the stage, up the stairs and across the bridge... anybody else remember that? Hall A used to close too, so if you didn't register on time... no seminar. The arena sold out so quickly. My how times have changed! Too bad for MK, they can't spin the memories of the intrepid PT Sisterhood!

I can vouch for Hall A closing. When I went 10+ years ago, I wound up in the last row. Every seat was filled. Of course, no one told me that I would be alone in Hall A while the rest of my unit was in the arena, but that's another story.

It's interesting. When I started going to Seminar years ago there was a rumor that they'd be adding another Seminar Area since the Dallas Conv Center couldn't hold anymore people between Arena and Hall A. And there was no where else in the area that could hold that many.

But at the rate attendance is dropping, I can only imagine that they'll be out in Grapevine (near DFW airport) in a few years. Especially when the Dallas CC hotel construction begins. Under the "well, we didn't want to inconvenience our consultants so we relocated" excuse.

so happy for pink truth. Am a consultant with mk 3 months all i can say it is such a waste of time.I was suck into mk my looking at nightline then i called mk they refered me to someone that took me right away to her sd that told me all the good things about mk. Then i sign up and ordered right away with $600 which they told me was best.It is not what i expected to be i wish i founded pink truth before i sign up with mk.That god for pinktruth!!!

It will be interesting to learn if MK every address the decrease in new SDs and not needing Hall A. They can't say it's the economy and say cosmetics are recession-proof at the same time. Or can they?
