Another Mary Kay lady tells us the “fix” is to get off our butts and do work.

I’m not usually rude but you all need to get a real life and quit trying to convince people that their dreams and goals aren’t worth pursuing.

My regular job makes me very close to an executive income but it includes all of the stress and difficulties one gets when working with negative, nasty, crazy women.

Nobody forces anybody to do anything in this business. You are given facts and statistics. What you choose to do or not do is what is going to take you places.

If I sit on my laurels all day at my regular job I’m sure someone would notice me and give me some lovely recognition called a termination. So quit blaming every else for your lack of success and get a life. Nobody wants to listen to whiners.

There are two types of people in this world. People who work hard and achieve something and those who sit around complaining that it’s someone else’s fault they don’t have anything.

My personal fix to all of your negative crap is get up off your butts and get to work. Maybe you need to change where you all hang out. You need some Jesus in your lives.

  1. “I’m not usually rude…” And we’re off! The old “I’m not a [bad thing] but I’m going to say something that shows you how much of a [bad thing] I really am!” gambit.

“My regular job makes me very close to an executive income but it includes all of the stress and difficulties one gets when working with negative, nasty, crazy women.” At least this one’s not claiming that she paid off her mortgage, put her kids through college, retired her husband, and financed her yacht with her MK earnings. However, if you’re “very close” (tax returns plz kthxbai) to executive income, why the need to eke it out trying to sell overpriced face flack to other negative nasty crazy women, at the behest of toxically positive nasty crazy women? Also, “internalized misogyny” – check. I’m sure all your male coworkers are just peaches.

“Nobody forces anybody to do anything in this business. You are given facts and statistics. What you choose to do or not do is what is going to take you places.” No, you’re give a lot of bogus numbers and rushed into making a decision in the hopes that you won’t get a chance to look at the REAL numbers before signing on. The MLM system is designed to fail and the places people end up can be very bad indeed.

“So quit blaming every else for your lack of success and get a life. Nobody wants to listen to whiners.” Sorry, boys and girls, the jig is up. We can’t spend all day eating bonbons and watching the soaps anymore :*( Oh, wait, we have actual jobs and lives. Nevermind. And we’re listening to you whine, aren’t we?

“There are two types of people in this world. People who work hard and achieve something and those who sit around complaining that it’s someone else’s fault they don’t have anything.” False dichotomy. Ambition is a continuum, not a Boolean. Hard working, ambitious people can fail for reasons beyond their control, and lazy slobs can luck into a good life.

“My personal fix to all of your negative crap is get up off your butts and get to work.” Chill. My work doesn’t start for another hour. I’ll get there in plenty of time. “Maybe you need to change where you all hang out.” My local yarn shop and the breakfast place where they know my order as soon as I walk in? Why the heck would I quit hanging out there?

“You need some Jesus in your lives.” Ok, you know and I know that you’re just using this as a veiled F-U. Do you REALLY think your lord and savior is cool with that?

    • Upon re-reading this post and the comments, this is my new favorite line:

      “ tax returns plz kthxbai”

Lol, it’s like using Chelsea Claytor’s personal language. Too bad you can’t type it over an unflattering photo of Chelsea and do it in a seventh-grader’s favorite font. Then add a PS of “BOGO ONE DAY ONLY HIT ME UP”.

  2. well friends, our Popinki gets the mic drop here — all points smacked down nicely. I also noticed the misogyny here. The “empowering women” pink huns are usually the first to say “negative nasty women “.

I make pretty good money at my J O B but you critics seem to think if you aren’t slinging fake facials then it is lazy wasted work (and that you must be a negative nasty woman)

Also please leave Jesus out of it. I do know Jesus and the Jesus I know would prefer to not be involved in Mary Kay.

    • It really is misogyny all the way down. I’ve been watching CCSuarez and Hannah Alonzo on YouTube react to public videos made by MLM huns who vociferously screech about how misogynistic the anti-MLM community is while simultaneously being the worst misogynists outside of the Nice Guy sub-culture on the web.

  3. If you were to clone the most successful Mary Kay consultant/director to make 1 million of her, and fill the Mary Kay ranks with her clones, the loss rates would be identical to what they are with the current crop.

The mathematical constraints of product-based pyramid schemes like Mary Kay cannot be avoided. 99% must lose money so the 1% can turn a profit. It is the design of these systems to create this outcome, regardless of the quality of (or efforts by) the participants.

    • Somebody doesn’t like your clear presentation of the numbers. The Ridiculous Downvote strikes again!

      • I was being “courted” by a non MK beauty MLM hun who was declaiming the average amounts I could earn and I asked her if that was the mode, median or mean. She gave me such a dirty look like I was using coarse four letter words. I mean, technically, two of them are four letter words.

But them not understanding the figures or concepts that they fling around with such abandon baffles me.

        • My own Senior/Director told me she didn’t track net profit. And I was supposed to be mentored by that?!

          10
          • Can you imagine Bezos, Jobs, Gates or Musk telling their staff NOT to track net profits? They’d be laughed out of the boardroom.

        • Since I’ve become a regular here on PT, I’ve been secretly hoping I’ll come across a hun who will try to recruit me, because I really REALLY want to be invited to some type of group recruiting event where I can ask the hard questions like what you’ve mentioned. Except I’m not mathematically inclined so instead I’d utilize my 20 plus year sales career to come up with questions (profit margins, lack of protected territory etc) that will make them try to drag me out of that room.

There IS a local Caddy driver (with a vanity tag of “YES U CAN” who I hope to “stumble upon” at some point so I can live my recruitment-party-crashing dream.

          • Sorry for the lone parenthesis in my comment, I can’t edit it. I hate to leave those buggers all alone.

          • I’m certain the main reason by SIL keeps her MLM friends from bothering me is due to the fact I keep asking questions. Then I mentally cross-reference their answers. Then I do the unforgivable and look it up on the interwebz. And point out the logical and not so logical fallacies using their own company’s ready available information..

I am a fallen angel, apparently.

  4. Oh my! Not a candidate for Go Give!

No extolling the magnificence of MK because she has the “near executive” income J.O.B. keeping her afloat. She is afraid! She sees herself in the postings here and she is afraid. I hope she reads the return all of your MK junk policy and gets on it!

    11
    • In fairness to the huns, the MLMs design the compensation plan to make it impossible to understand or predict what you can make. It would be better to create an if/then/else flow chart. But most of the “ifs” in MLM are wishful thinking.

Think about it. MLMs require an in-person one-hour meeting to describe the compensation plan, and the reps STILL can’t predict what they are likely to make. This provides plausable deniability on the part of the MLM when they are accused of exaggerating income claims.

      10
      • That’s why we need to pin down what is meant by the average income.

        Hey diddle diddle,
        The median’s in the middle,

You add and divide for the mean,

The mode is the one that
        appears the most,

And the range is the difference between.

        12
    • Yeah, and her near executive income almost certainly involves healthcare and possibly other benefits. I doubt she’s comparing apples to apples. Many MK directors who appear to be making at least 60k+ are NOT getting ANY benefits. Comparing her JOB vs MK should be done on a level field.

  5. I’m not usually rude but you all need to get a real life and quit trying to convince people that their dreams and goals aren’t worth pursuing.

If you have to say I’m not but just own it because you are. I have a real life and I’m certain all the other lovely commentators here do as well. What is happening here is showing how easily dreams can become nightmares.

My regular job makes me very close to an executive income but it includes all of the stress and difficulties one gets when working with negative, nasty, crazy women.

Hey Stephanie (Pink Truth critic May 27th 2022) is this an example of a woman empowering other women? Thanks for the misogyny though. And enjoy your job with it’s financial rewards.

Nobody forces anybody to do anything in this business. You are given facts and statistics. What you choose to do or not do is what is going to take you places.

I’ve been approached several times by various MLM huns, both in real life and on the web. They parroted what they had been told and refuted what I showed them from the income disclosures from their own company website.
So no, they do not have all the facts since it is simple enough to discover that the average person is unable to take this so-called opportunity places.

If I sit on my laurels all day at my regular job I’m sure someone would notice me and give me some lovely recognition called a termination. So quit blaming every else for your lack of success and get a life. Nobody wants to listen to whiners.

Sadly, there are far tooo many people at the level you claim to be at who do just sit on their butts and do little but are not fired. That’s a fact of working in the capitalist system, know the right people and you are protected.

I have a life. I am a SAHM which I know isn’t for everyone. It’s not been unsuccessful.

I wonder if you would call suffragettes whiners? Or Civil Rights protesters whiners? What about trade union activists who lobbied for better working conditions?

There are two types of people in this world. People who work hard and achieve something and those who sit around complaining that it’s someone else’s fault they don’t have anything.

Or you could take the road less well travelled, be born into a family worth many millions and start from there.
We were lucky enough to be able to send our children to a private high school. They all worked hard and now I have two in university and one about to start college. My oldest is about to graduate into the midst of an economic downturn which means that she may well not find a job in her chosen area. That is not her fault. Nor is it the fault of any of her fellow graduates.
It’s possible to work hard all your life and still get nowhere. Or work at a minimum pay job while you get a foot in the door at your chosen career.

My personal fix to all of your negative crap is get up off your butts and get to work.

I’m not a negative person. And my personal fix is to tell you to make a spreadsheet of how much you’ve earned at MK versus how much you spent. Track all your associated outgoings and the time to the nearest ten minutes and discover the real truth.

In the mean time, I have housework and a Farewell BBQ to look forward to.

Maybe you need to change where you all hang out.

Nah, I like it here. The people are warm, welcoming and intelligent. And over-whelmingly positive.

You need some Jesus in your lives.

The Jesus who braided a whip and flipped tables? The Jesus who changed water into wine? The one who fed and healed strangers? The guy who hung around with the undesirables and washed the feet of His friends?

Or the Jesus that is a supernatural ATM who rewards people for being faux pious and condemns to hell otherwise good people because they don’t follow (general) your narrow interpretation of His ministry?

I know which one I’d rather have in my life.

  6. “…negative, nasty, crazy women.”

Oof, misogyny much? I thought pink huns were about empowering women? Why so much hate for the ladies you work with at your real job? Are they not worth empowering?

    10
  7. Not “usually” rude? Well, you are. I’m not a whiner but am a woman that walked away from the most toxic work life I’ve ever had and am now making more money, am happy, and am free. No more nights or weekends schlepping lotions and potions. No more trying to motivated others to change (like you’re doing). No more monthly, quarterly, or yearly numbers to hit. And no more getting my check deducted of payments back to MK just because someone else quit.

The $70 face masks are a bust, and so is everything else MK has manufactured for over the last decade. Glad to be out!

  8. “ My regular job makes me very close to an executive income but it includes all of the stress and difficulties one gets when working with negative, nasty, crazy women.”

So why are you still working at that job? Quit and go do MK since you’re so keen on defending it. Seriously, what are your reasons to NOT leave that lousy job you have and go do MK full time? Let me guess:

    MK doesn’t have insurance;
    MK doesn’t offer a steady paycheck;
    MK costs money to even start it;
    And many more reasons.

You put up with the meanies at your J.O.B. because it pays you and gives you insurance. If MK was as great as you like to suggest, you’d make more than enough to cover your insurance. So why don’t you? Let us know how it works out for you when you quit to do MK.

  9. Aw, bless your heart! Invoking not working hard enough, the need for Jesus (not a Christian… I’m Jewish, so no thanks), getting off our butts (I just worked a 14-hour shift, thankyouverymuch, and have another one tomorrow), and whining about whiners.

There’s the door. You can see yourself out.

    • Notice the pattern with cultists? Everyone is lacking but them. Their “leaders” convince them they’ve found the pot of gold, or streets of gold, and to spread that message.

Heather is not only presumed to be a lazy, complaining, envious whiner, she also isn’t going to be “saved” either!!! Gasp. Never mind that she herself saves lives being a nurse working 14 hour shifts. Such eternal condemnation regardless of all the good she’s done on Earth. *All ludicrous and illogical of course.

Today’s author is a real gem; misogyny and supremacy all rolled up into one.

  10. “If I sit on my laurels”

Does she really have enough laurels needed to construct a chair? I have my doubts.
