Pink Truth Is Nonsense
Our friends over at the Let’s Talk Pink Facebook group for Mary Kay consultants are upset that their group members send screenshots of interesting conversations to Pink Truth. Ginger Gutting is particularly bothered.

Imagine being “in and out of Mary Kay” for the last 40 years!!! At some point don’t you get a hint about what a loser “business” this is?
Also, Ginger… facts and opinions are not defamation. You are welcome to point out any instance of me lying about Mary Kay. You won’t find it.
The administrator of the Let’s Talk Pink group, Heather Godshalk Triplett, wants people to be careful with what they say, since we might publish comments. (Thanks for linking to us, Heather!)

I wonder what Kay Borrero despises about our site? That we have been making information more accessible to recruits and consultants for almost 20 years? If recruiters and the company won’t tell the truth about this scam, we will!

Oh, Angela Swanson. Thank you for your concern. You’re right that we have a right to be critical of the company and the entire business model is flawed in a way that guarantees almost everyone will lose money.
You don’t have to worry about the time commitment that I have to Pink Truth. It doesn’t take a lot to keep a website going, and it’s a fun little hobby. And I don’t have to put moles in Facebook groups. The moles find themselves! Yes…. your little friends who are chatting with you in the FB groups are the ones sending me screenshots of the real truth. 🙂
Where you’re also wrong: I don’t have a chip on my shoulder. I just happen to dislike lying and scams. Almost 20 years ago, I started a website to help provide information to the public that would finally tell them the truth about this “opportunity.” Since recruiters won’t tell the full truth, someone else had to.
You mention how “being a consultant was never really in the cards for you” as if this is some sort of privilege or coveted position? If you’re a consultant, you’re almost certainly losing money. I don’t aspire to lose money. I’d rather run the real business that I’ve run for the last 25 years, making a wonderful income, and providing services to customers with integrity. This is so much easier and more fun that trying to recruit women into a scam and lying to them about the money and the fake opportunity.
Mary Kay ladies, YOU are the problem.

If some complains about my employer, I usually just ignore it. Or make placating noises as I listen sympathetically. Sometimes it’s a legit gripe and I can tell them how to get it resolved, or something they don’t understand and I can help them get an answer. Sometimes, I actually agree with them.
That’s because my employer (BTW a real one that pays me for showing up and doing my job) is just that. My identity is not my job. They don’t tell me how to do my job, what to think, how to dress, what I’m allowed to say about it.
There is no organization in the world that is universally loved, be it a company, a charity, a church, a school. The same goes for people. Hell, Fred Rogers had haters.
If you’re so far into the bubble that you get offended by someone dissing your MLM, it’s time to step waaaaay back and regain some clarity.
I work for the gubmint, so yeah… the complaints are constant some days (especially following this asinine shutdown and how it screwed with our paychecks. Some of us are essential personnel and kept working without a paycheck.). Like you, Popinki, my work is not my sole identity.
I smile and nod most days, because no matter where you work, there will always be someone who complains about something. You might have the most amazing employer out there, yet one person will grouse about it.
(general) You can Google “Wal*Mart”+ criticism or “Disney”+ cast criticism or Apple, Amazon, Tesla et c. and get pages and pages of results but these women expect that Our Lady of the Pink Cadillac Mary Kay Wagner Rogers Eckman Weaver Louis Miller Hallenbeck Ash’s company to be held differently. Above All Others. Immune from any hint of internal or external non-validation.
“Thou shalt have no other gods than Mary Kay” is their mantra. Any criticism legit or otherwise is seen as heresy. Their identity is so bound up as femina Maria Kay that some-one questioning any component of “My Small Business” is automatically rejected.
That this site is the most obvious anti-Mary Kay space on the inter-webs means that it is the One they must reject. Since MK is an older, more established MLM, most of the anti-MLM YouTubers tend not to focus on it. The Sam Dee is the only one who does much content coverage of MK. Though Careless Casie’s jacket saga had a couple of other creators make videos about it or mention it at the time.
I can only see anti-MLM creators jump onto more vocal criticism when Mary Kay Wagner Rogers Eckman Weaver Louis Miller Hallenbeck Ash’s company finally goes affiliate.
These ladies have to work so hard to maintain the illusion that MLM is a legitimate opportunity. With a real job, the opportunity does not require much explanation. These are your responsibilities, and if you perform them sufficiently well, you will continue to get the agreed-up compensation.
In MLMs like Mary Kay, the likelihood of a participant generating a net positive business profit is no better than from gambling in a casino. Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? Not even close. Just look at the opulence of the Vegas strip and ponder where all that money comes from. Spoiler alert: It comes from all the participants who proclaim they, “broke even or made a little”. Sound familiar?
In spite of the near guaranteed net losses, Vegas still draws huge crowds of folks hoping to “beat the odds”. In this case, as in MLM, hope, in the aggregate, is doing much more harm than good.
Since they don’t see the real figures because publishing them is now embarrassing, here’s one from the source itself, Canada’s 2024 Mary Kay Income Disclosure Statement.

Kay can’t believe the amount of time and energy put into Pink Truth.
Perhaps the Pink Fog is keeping her from seeing the amount of time and energy she puts into embarrassing, juvenile “rah rah” meetings, silly zoom calls, cringey social media posts, phone stalking and anemic sales only to be going into debt.
How did they find out that someone was a “mole”? That would imply that someone in the group has been visiting our site. That seems counterproductive to eliminating stinkin’ thinking’ and negative people. Shame, shame!
Dats Junkie is so right, hope is doing much for good than harm.
And they’re bothered because part of them knows all of what’s being said is the truth. They just don’t want to hear it. When you have full conviction about something, it doesn’t matter what anyone says. You’re not bothered or angered by it because in your heart of hearts you believe and know what’s true.
*much more harm than good
Can anybody access that Facebook group or is private/invite only? Would love to see it and the members that delude themselves.
It is private but they don’t do much checking on your profile when you join. Ask me how I know.
It’s hilarious that they think we put so much time and effort into hating mk.
While I run my (real) business, I do enjoy a little tea from time to time. If they would focus on ipa’s they could probably reach their goals . (Er…. Never mind. 😛🤣)
