Ryan Rogers Achieves a New Level of Petty
If you ask Richard Rogers, son of Mary Kay Ash, his son Ryan Rogers is running Mary Kay Inc. into the ground. There is a massive family lawsuit over money and MK is struggling to stay in business. Richard has made strong allegations about Ryan’s mismanagement of Mary Kay Cosmetics and taking many millions of dollars for himself.

Ryan has been telling the courts that his dad is old and senile, but so far no one is buying it. Yes, Richard is old and in poor health physically, but no one has been able to bring forth any evidence or examples of Richard not being of sound mind. The best Ryan and his siblings have been able to come up with is the accusation that Richard’s wife Nancy is a gold digger who is calling all the shots.
Nancy Rogers is a lot. She has been referred to as “Fancy Nancy” in Dallas social circles for decades.

Her Instagram handle even reflects it:

In October 2009, Mary Kay announced two regular line lip gloss shades, including the new Fancy Nancy.

And now…. Mary Kay has just announced that Fancy Nancy lip gloss has been renamed Fancy Coral.

How is that for petty? Ryan is so upset at Nancy and Richard because of the lawsuits (that Ryan started, by the way), that he has taken the Fancy Nancy name off a product. The lip gloss has had this name for almost 17 years, but at this very moment, it is important to change it. I know, I know. They’ll say they’re just updating things and keeping with the trends.
We know better. Congratulations, Ryan, for reaching this new level of petty. And thank you for continuing to inspire and entertain us.

A more trendy name would be Immoral Coral.
Oh true, but Ryan wanted to make it clear NANCY is the problem.
So what other products are getting fresh, shade-related names, Lyin’ Ryan, you Petty Betty?
Thought so.
Stock up now!!!!!
Is it possible that the author of the Fancy Nancy children’s books threatened legal action over use of the name?
After 17 years? Possible, but I’d score it as unlikely.
Huh, I hadn’t heard of the Fancy Nancy books before now.
According to my (admittedly limited) knowledge of copyright law, it would only cover Fancy Nancy in the sense of that specific character, her image, and the content of the books. So if you wanted to make a movie or sell merch with her likeness on it, you’d have to have permission, but they can’t prohibit the name “Fancy Nancy” being used for other purposes. I’m open to correction if I’ve got it wrong.
Plus, the timing is suspicious since this is happening so soon after the legal clusterfuffle, and Fancy Nancy has been her nickname for a long time.
I have the same understanding as a non-attorney who has dealt with my fair share of copyright and trademark issues in my 30+ year career.
Oh Popinki you are missing out, Fancy Nancy is my favorite modern day kids book series. They are childrens picture books and so beautifully illustrated. I bought them for my niece all the time when I worked at the bookshop. Honestly if you are browsing thru a bookshop or the library see if they have any. Although I feel the nickname being given to the MK owner is a bit off, The real Fancy Nancy would never lie to get people’s hard earned money to buy more Fancy clothes…..
On the petty scale~1000
Cost effectiveness~??? Unknown
And of course just so everyone can understand~ any lipgloss samples still left and mini lipgloss sets won’t reflect this new name change… that’s not confusing at all…
I didn’t know there was a “fancy nancy” lipgloss. Thank the gods I am so far out of the loop…
Supposedly, it’s “iconic” in Mary Kay Land. If you don’t want to pay MK’s obscene retail price of $23, there are plenty of lower priced dupes on the market.
Maybe it is iconic. But it’s also simultaneously sticky and gritty. And overpriced, so there’s that
All I can think of when I hear “Ryan” and “business” is Ryan Howard at Dunder-Mifflin, with the worst business decisions he could possibly do.
Ha! I’m glad I’m not alone with The Office references 😀
It was one of my favorite shades. I think it was $14 when I was in that life. Plenty of high quality drugstore dupes.
Is Ryan bad at business? Yes. Is the Kardasian wannabe step-mommy that engineered an adult adoption of a woman who still has parents a golddigger? Also yes. Both things can be true. Is Roger addled? Being married to the digger and raising a chump, maybe he always has been.
*not Roger, Richard
Maybe Richard has just had it with his disrespectful and entitled children and is more than happy to give all of it to the golddigger who still takes care of him.
