Another critic of Mary Kay who knows all the catch phrases…

There is a reason that Mary Kay Cosmetics has been the #1 selling cosmetics in the U.S for years! I am very offended by your comments, and of your insensitivity towards not only Mary Kay herself, but also to individual sales directors and NSDs.

I completely understand that you are entitled to your opinion, but you are sadly mistaken. I have known more women who were beaten down into spineless nothings before they got into the WONDERFUL business of Mary Kay. Now they are empowered, self assured, and most likely making a lot more money then most of the rest of us do. If Mary Kay doesn’t work for you then fine, don’t do it. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not go bashing it just because you don’t like it.

The women in Mary Kay are some of the most selfless, giving, loving, wonderful friends that I have. I thank GOD for them everyday. If you didn’t happen to meet women like that then I am truly sorry. But remember, there are self-centered jerks in every business, NOT JUST MARY KAY. I completely admit that there might be some self-serving women in Mary Kay who are only in it for the money. But for the other 99.9% of them, they are in it because they have a passion to help other women have a BETTER LIFE.

Women like me. I was in an emotionally abusive marriage, and Mary Kay gave me the courage to GET OUT. It was the best thing that I ever did, and I never would have done it had it not been for my Mary Kay business.

You know, I could go on and on about the benefits of Mary Kay and how life-changing that it has been for me and every other woman I know who has gotten into the business. I could go on and on about how they teach the Mary Kay business plan at HARVARD because it is one of the best in the nation. But you would have to have an open mind about it, and I don’t believe that you do.

I didn’t have to write you this letter. I have no idea who you are or why you have such a hate on for Mary Kay, but I could not stay silent. How many other businesses do you know put God first, WHICH BY THE WAY IS EXACTLY WHERE HE SHOULD BE, family second, and your career third.

And as for making production when you have personal trials, that is why YOU HAVE A TEAM. It was never intended for you to do it all on your own. We are all to work together for the common goal of our unit of team members, or rather I will say our friends. It has nothing to do with working yourself to death while you are sick or having a baby or whatever. You encourage your teammates to help you, which helps them, and everyone succeeds. That is the Mary Kay way!

Know any other companies that do that? I sure don’t!

And as far as the lady that can pay for her car with her Mary Kay, MORE POWER TO HER!!! I sure as heck wouldn’t have been able to do that with my 9-5 job, which stands for journey of the broke.

Just have an open mind about it, learn your facts, and consider the fact that you could be wrong about the whole thing. And if it still bugs you that much, go to headquarters and talk to them about it. But don’t poison everyone else’s mind about it just because you don’t like it.

  1. “I didn’t have to write you this letter.”

Very true, so why did you? You’re not even supposed to be reading this site because it “promotes negativity” and will cloud your mind. You’re not chasing leads, borrowing faces, warm chatting, doing training, holding parties, or any other ostensibly income-producing activity while you’re here.

If the company is so great and the women are so great and you love it so much, why do you care about what some small-time blog writes about it? People criticize my employer all the time. Usually I just let them kvetch because I’m a handy set of ears. Sometimes I can direct them to a solution. Sometimes I even agree. But I never take it personally because my job is my job, not my life.

So why, really, are you here? You had to click a link or Google Pink Truth or type in the URL. You did that knowing what awaited you.

What did you want to get out of it?

  2. How embarrassing to be listing off these lies, especially the one about the Mary Kay business plan being taught at Harvard “because it is one of the best in the nation.” Cringe.

  3. There is a reason that Mary Kay Cosmetics has been the #1 selling cosmetics in the U.S for years!

LOLwut! A two second Google disproves your point. You are not off to a good start defending the corporation you are a contractor for.

I am very offended by your comments, and of your insensitivity towards not only Mary Kay herself, but also to individual sales directors and NSDs.

Are you aware that a lot of our content comes directly from the public social media pages of said ISDs and NSDs? When Ms. Bowman Cox called other women “heffers”, when a certain NSD had committed felony fraud, when Careless Casie went on a media rampage over her own actions and inactions, we held them accountable.

I completely understand that you are entitled to your opinion, but you are sadly mistaken.

Thank for allowing me that small mercy. I can also back my opinion up with facts so I know I am not mistaken.

I have known more women who were beaten down into spineless nothings before they got into the WONDERFUL business of Mary Kay.

I wonder how many women have been beaten down by the not so wonderful fauxoptunity that is bong a 1099 contractor desperately trying to make a living in Mary Kay?
What’s that Destiny? Those figures exist! And from Mary Kay Corp!!!

Now they are empowered, self assured, and most likely making a lot more money then most of the rest of us do.

I’m sure that’s how they like to appear in public. However, the figures posted above prove differently.

If Mary Kay doesn’t work for you then fine, don’t do it.

    Very magnanimous of you.

But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not go bashing it just because you don’t like it.

Do you go to Disney criticism sites and demand they stop “bashing” or Wal*Mart or Microsoft or or the list goes on. Nearly all businesses have sites that criticize them. Mary Kay shouldn’t be exempt because it hurts your snowflake fee-fees. I refuse to stop calling out injustices and bad practices to protect the guilty and hurt the innocent.

The women in Mary Kay are some of the most selfless, giving, loving, wonderful friends that I have.

As long as your coffers are open to be plundered.

I thank GOD for them everyday.

I don’t think God is who you should be thanking.

If you didn’t happen to meet women like that then I am truly sorry.

I’d rather not have two-faced women in my life TYVM.

But remember, there are self-centered jerks in every business,

In all walks of life really.

    NOT JUST MARY KAY.

She was one of the most self-centered jerks in Mary Kay. You have to be to get to those kind of positions. It’s nice to see both her late son and her grandson following in her footsteps.

I completely admit that there might be some self-serving women in Mary Kay who are only in it for the money.

Isn’t that the pitch point? Money??? “Executive pay for part-time work”???

But for the other 99.9% of them, they are in it because they have a passion to help other women have a BETTER LIFE.

Only if those women’s better lives enrich the NSDs and the Rogers family coffers.

  4. A simple Google search shows the number 1 cosmetic is actually Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation. MK isn’t mentioned anywhere.

The reason that MK bossbabes are so angry at PT is that we are showing the reality of the pink pyramid. They are angry that we are putting people off joining their downline. They are angry that we are showing how classy NSDs actually are in real life, that we are tearing off their façade and exposing them as nasty and negative angry narcissists. There is also cultic thinking too – MK is a religion and PT is heresy. How dare we insult the God that is Mary Kay Many Names Ash, she who must be worshipped and deified at all costs! There’s also fear behind the anger – that we are indeed right and they have been taken in by a scam and are indeed losing money. They are very invested in the religion of MK so leaving even if it’s the best thing to do, become an apostate, will leave an empty gap in their life and their life will become devoid of all meaning. Or at least that’s what they have been indoctrinated to think anyway, of course we all know that becoming an apostate is very rewarding and fulfilling and leaving the pink fog is very worthwhile and satisfying, but when you are swamped by the pink fog and indoctrinated it’s hard to see what life would be like.

  5. Women like me. I was in an emotionally abusive marriage, and Mary Kay gave me the courage to GET OUT. It was the best thing that I ever did, and I never would have done it had it not been for my Mary Kay business.

Good for you. That took a lot of courage and resources and hopefully help from friends and family.

You know, I could go on and on about the benefits of Mary Kay and how life-changing that it has been for me and every other woman I know who has gotten into the business.

Are you going to look at those whose lives were changed for the worse? Or are you going to ignore them?

I could go on and on about how they teach the Mary Kay business plan at HARVARD because it is one of the best in the nation. But you would have to have an open mind about it, and I don’t believe that you do.

Pleas, tell me more about it being studied at Harvard. Which school? Business or law? What level? Who wrote the syllabus? DO you have a copy? What does it cover? Blindly repeating a talking point isn’t being open minded either.

I didn’t have to write you this letter.

No you didn’t since yet again you bring no real point of value.

I have no idea who you are or why you have such a hate on for Mary Kay, but I could not stay silent.

We don’t know who you are either. However you just regurgitated the “same old, same old” boring talking points and added nothing of value to the debate.

How many other businesses do you know put God first,

Every MLM follows this trite formula.

WHICH BY THE WAY IS EXACTLY WHERE HE SHOULD BE,

Not every one is a follower of the Abrahamic God. Personally I don’t think He is the supernatural entity behind MLMs.

family second, and your career third.

    Like I said, all MLMs.

And as for making production when you have personal trials, that is why YOU HAVE A TEAM.

Which your SD and NSD force to compete against each other for pathetic prizes to enrich themselves at their “teamies” detriment.

And still the money flows upwards to the NSDs and corporate, not down to the IBCs. Your own figures prove that.

Know any other companies that do that? I sure don’t!

All companies rely on their staff supporting each other. It’s just that they get paid for the work they do.

And as far as the lady that can pay for her car with her Mary Kay, MORE POWER TO HER!!!

They look so serene like swans but like swans they are frantically paddling under the surface, balancing credit card debts.

I sure as heck wouldn’t have been able to do that with my 9-5 job,

Again your own figures show that not many people actually earn that “Trophy on Wheels”.

which stands for journey of the broke.

Ha ha…yet another trite MLM 101 saying.

Just have an open mind about it, learn your facts, and consider the fact that you could be wrong about the whole thing.

Your diatribe would have been more useful if you had picked a post and told us where we were wrong with facts and figures to back your argument. Maybe you MIGHT learn something.

And if it still bugs you that much, go to headquarters and talk to them about it.

They don’t take any notice of what their own SDs and NSDs ask for, why would they talk to any rando who walks in from the street?

But don’t poison everyone else’s mind about it just because you don’t like it.

  6. “I am very offended by your comments, and of your insensitivity towards not only Mary Kay herself, but also to individual sales directors and NSDs.”

I think it’s kind of offensive to write such a long, accusatory letter when you clearly haven’t read the material here, and don’t have a clue what this site is really about.

“Just have an open mind about it, learn your facts, and consider the fact that you could be wrong about the whole thing.”

You would do well to take your own advice, instead of assuming the worst about the people who post here.

  7. e.l.f cosmetics had 1.3 billion in revenue in 2025. Revlon reported net revenue of $5.36 billion in 2024. Mary Kay is not even close to the top.

“I could go on and on about how they teach the Mary Kay business plan at HARVARD because it is one of the best in the nation” THEY DO NOT! There was ONE “case study” done by ONE instructor. And, by the way, Harvard teaches about terrible businesses as well as good ones. The rise and fall of Theranos, Enron and other notable failures are studied.
