This Will Be My Last Visit

This is actually my first visit to this website and most assuredly my last. I did however have a few things to say. Whether or not they’re posted, that remains to be seen.

I’m intrigued at the rhetoric and anger on this site. In my humble opinion it seems a shame. There is a great deal of passion and excitement expressed here. I hope you will all find peace and solace and can find a way to channel this powerful energy in a more positive way, in some other aspect of your life.

Yes, I am a Mary Kay consultant. I have a college degree and I am a high school social studies teacher. Most of the women I am priviledged to know and work with in my National Area are also college educated and not by any means in a “fog.”

Listen, you all have your individual experiences with Mary Kay that for one reason or another lead you here. I think it’s naive for anyone, whether a MK faithful or otherwise to believe any international company doesn’t suffer it’s abuses. No company, coporation or business for that matter is perfect and free from criticism. In addition, were talking about the sales industry. This type of door-to-door technique has been around for centuries. It’s not a new concept.

Here at Pink Truth It’s all the same, “the evil MLM.” I mean come on with some of this stuff you guys are complaining about. Every company whose main fiscal focus is centered around retail sales, tirelessly trains it’s salesforce to sell the product to make it sound like the best thing to hit the market and to entice the public away from the competitor. You call it misleading, I think that’s really subjetive. If we are to follow the logic of Pink Truth, then turn off your TVs, your radios, don’t read another newspaper or magazine ad! I mean seriously we are a nation of consumerism. The public has to be able to filter out what it does and does not believe.

Every skin care company from Esteé Lauder and Revlon to Mary Kay and Benefit makes various claims about their products. Are they all real? Who knows. If you believe it though and are happy, then ignorance is bliss right? Isn’t that what we really trust in everyday when making a purchase? We’re not little scientists with some at home lab that can break down the moleculer structure of Pine Sol and figure out definatively it’s better or worse than Lysol.

Let’s talk about “recruting.” I served in the US Navy for 6 years. Do you think the US military has ever gone out into the general public and said to the youth of America and their parents, “Hey join the Army we’re so desperate for bodies and I need you to join ASAP so I can make my quota this month and oh yeah, did I mention you’ll probaby die in war.” Be pratical people! Any and every headhunter or talent scout in America is going to give “the pitch” to a potential new hire.

If you open up your own flower delivery service are you going to put yourself out there publically and proclaim, “Well, I really don’t know the business that well, but hey I think I can do a good job for you. I really haven’t made a ton of money yet and really have no staff, but you can count on me.”?Be serious! You’re going to puff up your business and your accomplishments.

I don’t think anyone here is a loser, nor do I believe the fine women who weren’t successful with this venture didn’t work hard enough. My mother always said, “If we knew how to be better we would be, if we knew how to do better we would.”

All I would like to leave you with is this, Mary Kay has it’s flaws and it’s shady people, that’s life. What facet of life isn’t filled with a number of creeps? Jobs, schools, athletics, showbiz, corporations, governments, chrurchs, temples, you name it they’re everywhere. You can’t avoid them. What you can do is rise above it and be an example for others to follow. As a political activist I would love to see all this anger and passion directed toward real issues and real problems. If “busting big business” is your thing aren’t there bigger fish to fry? How about the oil industry? I was intrigued by a posting where this women was bragging about her nice shiny SUV and why would she take that stupid MK car. I drive a really nice car too, but that extra money in my pocket sure sounds nice. If I win and lose it, oh well that’s life baby! You can’t take it with you anyway, so lighten up a little ladies, huh?

To the originator of this webite, take care because you also tread on dangerous ground. You may find you’re not so slick after all! I wouldn’t be shocked to read about the lawsuit confronting you someday soon!

  1. Spelling mistakes, grammar issues, rambling and circular logic, strawman arguments, and the threat of a lawsuit. Yep, it’s Friday. 🙄

    • Another teacher who attended school with Dacia. Why won’t they let spellcheck do its job and replace the errors?

  2. Oh, well, at least this one didn’t stumble, though I feel sorry for her students. I mean, a teacher who doesn’t know the difference between “it’s” and “its”. Plus if she’s working a (shudder) J O B she clearly ain’t making the executive income promised by MK for part time work. I’m also a bit surprised that a high school teacher doesn’t have an master’s degree or equivalent, but that’s not my field and, I know there’s a serious teacher shortage so I’ll leave it at that.

“Listen, you all have your individual experiences with Mary Kay that for one reason or another lead [should be “led”, Teach] you here. None of which has diddly-squat do to with Mary Kay or Multi-Level Marketing. Sure, companies get bashed all the time. And yes, door-to-door sales have been around for ages. That was for practical reasons. Before every family had multiple cars, and when women were typically SAHMs, it made sense for goods to come to them because they couldn’t easily go out to shop around for them. But, seriously, how many Fuller Brush or vacuum cleaner or Charles Chips salespeople do you see around anymore? The world and society has changed. Anyone can drive somewhere to buy what they want, or order it online and have it in a few days.

MARY KAY DOES NOT TRACK RETAIL SALES TO CUSTOMERS, ONLY WHOLESALE PURCHASES TO ITS SALES FORCE. You get ZERO training on the products, and the training provided is about recruitment.

“You call it misleading, I think that’s really subjetive. If we are to follow the logic of Pink Truth, then turn off your TVs, your radios, don’t read another newspaper or magazine ad! OW! This one, coming from a kbot, just blew out my irony meter. Last I checked, they’re the ones forbidding negativity and urging its membership to ignore the big bad mean ol’ world outside the bubble.

“Every skin care company from Esteé Lauder and Revlon to Mary Kay and Benefit makes various claims about their products. Are they all real? Who knows. If you believe it though and are happy, then ignorance is bliss right?” There’s just a slight difference between making informed decisions and going through life as a clueless wonder. Do you not teach your students critical thinking skills? If you don’t, I feel even sorrier for them.

“Let’s talk about “recruting.” I served in the US Navy for 6 years. A social studies teacher who doesn’t know about the draft? The military doesn’t need to beg; it can just say “You. Serve. Show up at place and time or you’re guilty of a federal crime.” It hasn’t done it since a small kerfuffle somewhere in SE Asia that a high school social studies teacher probably hasn’t heard about, though to be fair, there were two and that makes it confusing. They’ve worked out that a volunteer military is better overall and entice those volunteers with training, education, travel, signing bonuses, and other real tangible rewards.

The military, along with corporate recruiters, are actually offering actual jobs that make actual salaries with actual benefits, not the airy-fairy bullshit MLM presents as soooooo easy to attain yet less than 1% of its victims will ever even see.

“I don’t think anyone here is a loser, nor do I believe the fine women who weren’t successful with this venture didn’t work hard enough. My mother always said, “If we knew how to be better we would be, if we knew how to do better we would.””

As my grandmother used to say, “wish in one hand, shit in the other, and see which fills up first.” So we’re not losers and not lazy; we’re just stupid and naive. Thanks. Back atcha.

“All I would like to leave you with is this, Mary Kay has it’s flaws and it’s shady people, that’s life. What facet of life isn’t filled with a number of creeps? So if one of your students is being bullied or harassed, you just tell them “sorry, sport, you’re gonna find that kind everywhere and all you can do is act superior and hope it stops”?!

No, what you do is address the creepy behavior, take steps to get the creeps to knock it off, warn others of their creepiness, and if all else fails remove the creep from the situation. This is exactly what Pink Truth is doing by education and telling their stories about the MLM creeps who prey on women, take your time and money, and come out ahead while you suffer.

“As a political activist I would love to see all this anger and passion directed toward real issues and real problems. If “busting big business” is your thing aren’t there bigger fish to fry? How about the oil industry?”

Telling me about someone who had both legs bitten off by a great white shark doesn’t mean that my stubbed toe doesn’t hurt.

“I was intrigued by a posting where this women was bragging about her nice shiny SUV and why would she take that stupid MK car. If you want to take on a side hustle or second job, that’s fine, but the point here is to NOT do so with MLM, because you’re going to lose money instead of making it.

“To the originator of this webite, take care because you also tread on dangerous ground. You may find you’re not so slick after all! I wouldn’t be shocked to read about the lawsuit confronting you someday soon!”

BWAHAHAHAHAHA wheeeeze HAHAHAHA gasp HAHA oh god my ribs WAHAHAHAHAHA!

Ok, Ms Alleged High School Social Studies Teacher, go on and show me where, under US law, opinions and facts straight from the horse’s mouth are actionable. Forget tax returns; I want to see this one’s teaching certificate.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

    • .” It hasn’t done it since a small kerfuffle somewhere in SE Asia that a high school social studies teacher probably hasn’t heard about, though to be fair, there were two and that makes it confusing”

Now Popinki you & I know you can’t be teaching about those 2 small skirmishes in a classroom today, it’s not relevant and teaching what a draft is, why would you do that in a social studies class?.. it hasn’t happened in like 60yrs, so why even mention it…..

A social studies teacher that can’t use critical thinking skills is a scary thought. I hope she’s not teaching any kids I know.

      • I hope they at least teach the kids about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor and starting WWI and Gorbachev starting the Cold War. They’ll never survive Bar Trivia night without it.

    • Could be “teacher voice”. Sometimes teachers lapse into their lecture voices without realizing it, and add in a hefty side of pomposity.

My aunt’s a retired teacher, and I can remember her schooling me (incorrectly) about the ingredients in a dessert my family has been making for decades, the price of something at the grocery store, and other such matters of world-shaking import.

  3. This is actually my first visit to this website and most assuredly my last.

well, hello and goodbye. Though I suspect both of these statements to be lies.

I did however have a few things to say. Whether or not they’re posted, that remains to be seen.

I guess we are going to read the same old, same old.

I’m intrigued at the rhetoric and anger on this site. In my humble opinion it seems a shame.

Yes, it is shameful that MK and all MLM companies are allowed to function in a way that rewards a very small percentage of people who are lied to about the limitless opportunities for financial and time freedom.

There is a great deal of passion and excitement expressed here. I hope you will all find peace and solace and can find a way to channel this powerful energy in a more positive way, in some other aspect of your life.

Yes, we are a group of passionate people. It is reflected in all aspects of our lives.

Yes, I am a Mary Kay consultant.

Oh dear! I feel everything we say is going to fall on deaf ears.

I have a college degree and I am a high school social studies teacher. Most of the women I am priviledged (sic) to know and work with in my National Area are also college educated and not by any means in a “fog.”

I guess you do not teach proof reading as part of your duties.
Also college degree isn’t the flex you think. You are using this as a logical fallacy called appeal to authority. I worked with people with PhDs in chemistry and still had to remind them to not mouth pipette concentrated acids or alkalis.

Listen, you all have your individual experiences with Mary Kay that for one reason or another lead you here.

And yet, you are about to deny the real harm Mary Kay Wagner Rogers Eckman Weaver Louis Miller Hallenbeck Ash’s company has perpetuated in the past and will continue to do so.

I think it’s naive(sic) for anyone, whether a MK faithful or otherwise to believe any international company doesn’t suffer it’s abuses. No company, coporation (sic)or business for that matter is perfect and free from criticism.

You are correct which is why there are websites that point out the failures and harm that Amazon, Wal*Mart, Disney et alia are prevalent out in the wild.

In addition, were (sic) talking about the sales industry. This type of door-to-door technique has been around for centuries. It’s not a new concept.

But not on such an industrial scale.

Here at Pink Truth It’s all the same, “the evil MLM.” I mean come on with some of this stuff you guys are complaining about.

Are you admitting Mk is an MLM company?

Every company whose main fiscal focus is centered around retail sales, tirelessly trains it’s salesforce to sell the product to make it sound like the best thing to hit the market and to entice the public away from the competitor.

Thank you for explaining basic sales techniques. But in retail sales, the company also has levels of support staff who never need to know about each product nor are all of them trying and failing to earn a few dollars by pushing the same limited product lines to a diminishing buyer space.

You call it misleading, I think that’s really subjetive(sic).

What is misleading about Mary Kay Wagner Rogers Eckman Weaver Louis Miller Hallenbeck Ash’s own income disclosure?
    https://i.redd.it/7p73s2hz0bi81.jpg

If we are to follow the logic of Pink Truth, then turn off your TVs, your radios, don’t read another newspaper or magazine ad! I mean seriously we are a nation of consumerism. The public has to be able to filter out what it does and does not believe.

We are not asking that at all. We are suggesting that instead of blindly believing (general) your up-line and directors that you seek out non biased sources of information on which to base your financial, emotional and temporal decisions.

Every skin care company from Esteé (sic) Lauder and Revlon to Mary Kay and Benefit makes various claims about their products. Are they all real? Who knows.

I hope that these companies have done their due diligence with regards to their health claims.

If you believe it though and are happy, then ignorance is bliss right? Isn’t that what we really trust in everyday when making a purchase?

    See above.

We’re not little scientists with some at home lab that can break down the moleculer (sic)structure of Pine Sol and figure out definatively(sic) it’s better or worse than Lysol.

Eyes garage space…ponders about the price of a GC-MS.

Let’s talk about “recruting(sic).” I served in the US Navy for 6 years. Do you think the US military has ever gone out into the general public and said to the youth of America and their parents, “Hey join the Army we’re so desperate for bodies and I need you to join ASAP so I can make my quota this month and oh yeah, did I mention you’ll probaby(sic) die in war.” Be pratical(sic) people! Any and every headhunter(sic) or talent scout in America is going to give “the pitch” to a potential new hire.

If you served in the US Navy, then you are aware of how the command structure works. Your newest, fresh from boot camp seaman isn’t trying to compete with the ship’s captain to make the most money that month.

Head hunters have a complete job description and are looking for some-one who fulfills most if not all of the stated requirements before acting as the middleman.

If you open up your own flower delivery service are you going to put yourself out there publically(sic)and proclaim, “Well, I really don’t know the business that well, but hey I think I can do a good job for you. I really haven’t made a ton of money yet and really have no staff, but you can count on me.”?Be serious! You’re going to puff up your business and your accomplishments.

If I were to open up a florist shop in my town, I’d be going head to head with two well established businesses. I know that in advance. Would Chels or Jamie or Gloria be as upfront if I were to ask them how many other MKbots were currently active in my local area?

I don’t think anyone here is a loser, nor do I believe the fine women who weren’t successful with this venture didn’t work hard enough. My mother always said, “If we knew how to be better we would be, if we knew how to do better we would.”</I.

    How very magnanimous of you!🙄

All I would like to leave you with is this, Mary Kay has it’s flaws and it’s shady people, that’s life. What facet of life isn’t filled with a number of creeps? Jobs, schools, athletics, showbiz, corporations, governments, chrurchs(sic), temples, you name it they’re everywhere. You can’t avoid them. What you can do is rise above it and be an example for others to follow.

No, I don’t want to rise above it. I want to be able to point out the flaws and the predators. I binge watched “Shiny Happy People” last night. It’s about the Duggars and IBLP. People fell for the polished and supposedly benign face of a family trying to live a non-conventual life which was a front for an establishment which primed victims and abusers alike.

As a political activist I would love to see all this anger and passion directed toward real issues and real problems. If “busting big business” is your thing aren’t there bigger fish to fry? How about the oil industry?

    We can do both.

Wow, could you be a touch more condescending. /s

To the originator of this webite(sic), take care because you also tread on dangerous ground. You may find you’re not so slick after all! I wouldn’t be shocked to read about the lawsuit confronting you someday soon!

Well, since you are the CEO of your own company, get your legal eagles to start the procedure. Discovery is going to be a blast. Nice threats though.

    15
    • And the seaman doesn’t have to recruit several family members and high school buddies to make it to the next rating – they can make it all the way to CPO just on merit and experience.

      14
  4. “Every company whose main fiscal focus is centered around retail sales, tirelessly trains it’s salesforce to sell the product to make it sound like the best thing to hit the market and to entice the public away from the competitor.”

The fundamental difference here is in honestly identifying the customer. In MLMs, the entire corporate business plan is built around the MLM sales rep as the target customer of the business. The MLM company is structured to be profitable without sales to outside customers.

Traditional companies don’t rely on selling to their own sales force, and can be profitable without any of their salespeople using their products.

Meanwhile, MLM companies simply cannot survive without purchases by the sales team. This is one many reasons why it is dishonest to compare any MLM to a traditional company.

    13
  5. Lying to recruits is just fine and dandy, because everyone does it, even the US Navy! But telling the truth and exposing a lie is a waste of energy and a distraction from the real problems of society.

Wow. What a seriously messed up set of values.

    12
  6. Don’t tell me what issues are real, and where to direct my energy. You aren’t the boss of me!

She wrote: “As a political activist I would love to see all this anger and passion directed toward real issues and real problems.”

If you don’t think a business model that makes most of its participants lose money for the benefit of the high ranks, one that wrecks social networks for profit, and leaves people’s marriages in shambles is a problem, that’s OK. If you can’t see the damage being done to your own life and the lives of your fellow consultants by this “business opportunity, that’s OK. I’ve been a political activist since before you were born (starting with civil rights in the 1960s) and the MLM fish is one of the ones in my frying pan right now.

“To the originator of this website, take care because you also tread on dangerous ground. You may find you’re not so slick after all! I wouldn’t be shocked to read about the lawsuit confronting you someday soon!”

We would be TOTALLY shocked. Most of the information comes straight from Mary Kay Corporate, corporate publications, and things published by NSDs and Directors. We’re just doing commentary and analysis on this information, and some people are writing about their personal experiences in Mary Kay or as family members of IBCs. There is nothing legally actionable.

We would also be waiting eagerly for the part of a lawsuit known as “discovery”, where each party asks the other for specific information related to the suit and can legally COMPEL the other party to hand it over. I’m confident that Mary Kay would rather not have a forensic accountant asking for information about their finances and business practices.

    https://www.americanbar.org/groups/public_education/resources/law_related_education_network/how_courts_work/discovery/

    18
    • “I’m confident that Mary Kay would rather not have a forensic accountant asking for information about their finances and business practices.”

You are spot on. To combat the information on this site, Mary Kay would have to open their books to contrast what is shared on this site. But since what is shared here is indeed accurate, they know better. Such a lawsuit would only help Pink Truth while hurting Mary Kay…and their corporate lawyers know it!

Knowing the target of their lawsuit is a skilled and successful forensic accountant carries another level of risk for them. Even Mary Kay’s corporate lawyers know not to poke a bear. All those Mary Kay feelings, emotions and platitudes are meaningless in law. Facts, data and numbers are everything. This is Tracy’s wheel-house.

Just imagine an NSD going after Tracy, such that Tracy gets a chance to lay bare the underlying house of cards in that NDS’s business and down-line. I expect financial records as well as email and text communications to/from the NSD would be in-scope. Oh how interesting this would be! Which is why no one in their right mind at Mary Kay would ever take such a risk, as this could ultimately lead to FTC action, if not a class-action suit by current and former consultants in that NDS’s down-line, once they see the scope of the exploitation. Which could lead to a cascade to other NSDs. I would go so far as to guess that Mary Kay corporate lawyers would intervene to stop any NSD considering such an action independently. It is simply too risky for all of them!

I assume Tracy already knows this, as do those frustrated fraudsters over at Mary Kay. Which is why Pink Truth continues to thrive.

      16
      • Not to mention, Tracy has been running this site for nearly 17 years. It’s rather naive to think that MK hasn’t already considered the possibility of legal action and decided against it.

Heck, Tracy would probably LOVE a lawsuit from MK or any MLM for that matter – it would provide front page material for months.

        13
      • “I expect financial records as well as email and text communications to/from the NSD would be in-scope.” Yes, and Mary Kay Corporation and the NSD’s banks could get subpoenas for relevant records related to that NSD and her downline. It’s called “subpoena duces tecum”

  7. It would be great for this MK consultant/social studies teacher to share how much money she earns selling MK products (minus expenses) and if she’s working toward earning the use of a MK car. Also, is she going to Seminar? Does she attend all unit meetings and training classes? So many questions about her MK experience …

  8. Good thing she doesn’t teach English. “Priviledged”? “It’s” (a dozen times when it should be “its”…lots and lots of other basic mistakes! Ugh!

  9. Ma’am, if there was going to be a lawsuit, it would have already happened. Freedom of Speech goes both ways. It ain’t slander if it’s true. Ponder that.

  10. I have been a committed lurker of Pink Truth for many many years. I’m just waiting for the right time to share my story as a top pink cadillac sales director, as I think it would provide additional solid confirmation and validity to the facts and truths shared by others on this site. If MK ever decides to make a move towards a lawsuit against Pink Truth, you can count on me to step up and share my personal story which includes a few juicy secrets i’ve been holding on to. By the way, good job to all who contribute and share their personal stories on this site. I will continue to follow and add my thumbs-up as you all are doing a great work here and have (hopefully) kept many women and men from being victims of this predatory “opportunity”.

    11
    • You may as well spill the tea and let the cat out of the bag now. Mary Kay will NEVER move against PinkTruth because most of the information comes straight from Mary Kay Corporate, corporate publications, and things published by NSDs and Directors.

  11. If this lady is a Social Studies teacher and has no clue how to use spellcheck or grammar check on a computer, Lord help our children.

I applaud and appreciate all who have serve our country. But, there is something hinky with this one. She will be back! She’s already been here and read a great deal. And, as usual, PT will have the giant pillow of understanding ready to catch the fall, or “stumble.”

  12. “Let’s talk about “recruting.” I served in the US Navy for 6 years. Do you think the US military has ever gone out into the general public and said to the youth of America and their parents, “Hey join the Army we’re so desperate for bodies and I need you to join ASAP so I can make my quota this month and oh yeah, did I mention you’ll probaby die in war.” Be pratical people! Any and every headhunter or talent scout in America is going to give “the pitch” to a potential new hire.”

Oh, bless your heart! As the spouse of a retired submariner, I can tell you without a doubt the military, all branches, have done some interesting things to meet recruiting goals. As a social studies teacher, you should remember this wonderful thing we have called a draft. We used it a few times in our history.

“As a political activist I would love to see all this anger and passion directed toward real issues and real problems. ”

As a parent, I would not want my children near you and your political activism. No way, Jose. Check out the many recent news stories about teachers and professors forcing students to pay dues to the instructor’s favorite organization for political activism as part of their grades. Frankly, teach and leave that shizznit on the sidelines in your free time.

  13. College educated? Not so sure. Either this was written when very tired or so mad that the person couldn’t see straight. Sooooo many spelling errors etc. The point of the forum is to let other’s express just what they acutally found in the MK scam and to see that others went through the same thing, even the”elite” in MK. The lies, the deception, the platitudes, etc. This site is a good learning place to learn just how deceptive MK is and mlms in general.

  14. But you came here. You made your first visit.

We know everyone in your company tells you not to come here. We know your upline tells you not to come here. Yet you came here.

Why? Did some little doubt, something percolating in the back of your mind as you tried to fall asleep, lead you here? You broke the rules to come here. Are you starting to realize that it’s all not what it seems? Have you started to wonder why so many fail if it’s so easy? Is the first little crack forming in the facade?

It may take time, your first instinct was to resist and scream NO. But no matter how you justified it, you broke the rules to come here. And when you are ready, we’ll be here.
