The Fabulous Jean Jacket

Written by Parsons Green

Mary Kay offered a special prize in March based strictly on My Shop website orders. The top ten directors and consultants in each division would win this blinged out denim dynamo. Imagine the warm chatter possibilities this jean jacket will bring. If you win this prize, you will get a stage walk at seminar. However, you won’t get the jacket if you don’t attend.

Tracy McDonald and Corinna Langworthy shared on social media that they were two of the winners for March.

Luckily I was able to get a peek at the winners in each division – complete with totals! First up, the diamond division. Corrina Langworthy finished 10th in her division with $1,506 in sales. Lindsay Dickerhoof ranked higher with $2,095 in sales. Mary Kathyrn King was the queen of Diamond with $4,504. The top Diamond consultant had $6,158 in sales. (Okay, not really sales. It was ordering. Suggested retail value of the products she ordered.) Where are any of Jamie Taylor’s directors and downline?

For the Emerald division, Jessica Dudley finished fifth. She’s been featured on the front page before. She loves Mary Kay products so much she frequently will go live while driving to share her favorites. Jessica is part of the record breaking faith area spearheaded by NSD Daughter in Law Somer Fortenberry! Somer and her team have been featured on the front page multiple times, especially when one of her directors called her out for cheating to achieve the NSD rank.

The Sapphire winners didn’t do that well either. Tracy finished 6th with $1,728 in sales. She took home a whopping $864 in profit for March.

This contest was such a success for Mary Kay, they are offering it again in April! You cannot win the prize twice.

Here’s a look at the on target directors and consultants. Nsd never-to-be Heather Daniel-Kent is on FIRE with $500 sales month to date. Again where are Jamie Taylor’s consultants on the April leaderboard???

The end of April will be here before we know it. Who will be the next 60 consultants to earn this prize?

  1. Wow…these numbers are really low when you think about all the work and time that probably went into getting those orders. If this is considered the TOP and being successful, how much did all the other gazillion consultants make?!

Finding a consultant’s MyShop isn’t as easy as a Google search, so I don’t believe customers just ran across their site.

I hope consultants actually take a look at those numbers and assess this. Ladies, you could go out and buy a jacket like that on Etsy for $50 and have your time and sanity back.

And this is why I standby the fact that you cannot make a livable wage in MK without recruiting. It’s nothing without it and the system is intentionally built that way.

    • “… you could go out and buy a jacket like that on Etsy for $50…”

      That!^^^

With the added bonus of not having the fact that you’re an annoying MK lady advertised across the back, effectively warning others to steer clear. Bonus #2, when MK inevitably goes affiliate with no further use for you and/or you defog and get the hell out of there, you can still wear your super awesome blingy jacket without the stench of MK ick attached to it.

  2. #17 Caitlin Trone. $252

Caitlin Griffo Trone was a Caddy SSD. (Remember The Fearless Lobsters?) I don’t know where she is now in the Pink Hierarchy.

  3. The front of the jacket is…okay…I guess…
But the “MARY KAY” emblazoned across the back is just embarrassing and ruins the whole thing.
I wouldn’t be caught dead in that atrocity.
Although I suppose it could effectively serve as a heads-up for otherwise unsuspecting victims in the vicinity, an incoming hun alert as it were.

  4. So the top “seller” brought home $3496 for the month if those were all bought by other people and she made 50% commission.

Good question about Jamie Taylor’s downline, are they all bypassing MyShop? If Chelsea Adkins is good enough to be a social squad member, where is she?

As for the jacket, it reminds me of someone who wants to wear their high school letterman jacket in college. The decorations aren’t practical, they might snag long hair, purse straps might rub off the pearls’ finish or break the pearls off. Sitting in a car seat doesn’t look comfortable and the seat might damage the decorations. Who decided on pearls? It makes the jacket look like it has smallpox.

    • Chelsea’s birthday is this month, and instead of doing one big sales day, she’s doing a sale every Friday. The one thing she’s doing differently is that all orders must go through her and NOT My Shop.

  5. I noticed that many of our Queens of Sales (ahem, Purchasing) are nowhere to be found on these lists.

    Interesting…

  6. If consultants and directors can place orders for themselves on MyShop, this contest works kind of like a silent auction. What a clever way to get the sales force to open their wallets and gamble their money away seeking yet another silly status prize. Just think of all the MK revenue from all the hopeful orders that didn’t result in a prize.

    More clever MLM trickery.
