I just wanted to share an update.  I don’t know if you remember, but I emailed close to this time last year asking for advice on how to become an “ethical sales director.”  You even posted my email on the front page, and I received LOTS of great advice.  Every comment submitted had one common thread it seemed; it was virtually impossible.

Looking back at a year ago from now, I actually cringe at the decisions I made.  I had almost become one of the “big girls,” so things should have been peachy, but in my gut I knew they weren’t.  If not for the support from Pink Truth, I don’t know if I ever would have had the courage to just walk away like I did.  I am infinitely grateful for your site and the strong women that were there for me when everything I had been building came crashing down.

Within this past year, 4 of the 10 women that were on my DIQ team sent back their inventory.  2 more are planning on it.  I have sold off the majority of mine without having to send it back and lose the 10%.

I started a new career (an actual career with paychecks, benefits, paid holidays off, etc!) and am totally loving it.  I get to go to training that my company pays for instead of me, have wonderful coworkers who aren’t just trying to get a commission off of me, and earn a good steady income.  I’m so much happier without the weight of Mary Kay on my shoulders.  I don’t dread the end of the month and stress about who’s ordering how much and when.  I’m happy. 🙂

I guess in a nutshell, I just want to say THANK YOU.  I couldn’t have done it without you guys!

  1. Thank you for the update. It’s always nice to know this site has helped someone.

  2. This is EXACTLY why this site exists! Thanks for the great news, and THANKS, TRACY!!!!!

  3. Your note has made my day! I’m so glad you are out of the mess of MK. I’m so thankful for Tracy hosting this site (at the cost of her time and $$$).

  4. Congratulations on a better life! Quitting can be the best thing you can do for yourself. Think about all of the things that benefit your life once you quit and go in a different direction: toxic relationships, a job where you are marginalized, fake life on social media, smoking, drugs, alcohol abuse, etc. I’m so glad to hear that you now have a job with benefits.

  5. No more looming chargebacks, unit meetings at night, warm chatting, checking Active status, hoping new products sell, faking an “awesome” day, spending time with no guarantee of income to compensate you for it, and so much more!

Doesn’t it feel great to have those benefits again? Good for you!

  6. This is the kind of letter we would have liked to have seen yesterday: not just deciding to get out, but doing so on moral principles and not just because of burnout. DIQuitter, I salute you!

  7. Congratulations! We are so glad to have you here. Stick around! This is a fabulous group of ladies and gentlemen who will actually be supportive through the good and bad. No one here is going to tell you you’re being negative because you’ve had a rotten day. You can wear whatever clothes and shoes you want, and ditch those pantyhose…if that’s your choice! Enjoy putting the cosmetics you enjoy on your beautiful face, or none at all. We just want you to be happy, healthy, and safe in a life that is pink free!

  8. Good job seeing the bigger picture at the first. It is designed to spoon feed details over time, and fell for it. It is a good lesson.

  9. Congrats for getting out. Before leaving, i was thinking about it for a long time. I kept seeing hints of how crazy this place was. But my director told me that I couldn’t return anything after the 1st year of being in the company. The more i researched on pink truth the more I realized that I was conned. However, over and over, I keep on having to get myself out of this brainwashing so great job for getting out. I keep having more realizations even though I’ve left years ago. Mk is evil. Turns friends into competitors, messes with your self esteem. And messes with your finances. The best time to get out is now!!
