Not Cleta’s “Best Year Ever”

Written by Frosty Rose

The recurring theme of Mary Kay directors is “Best [whatever] Ever!” Cleta Colson-Eyre, fearless leader of Cleta’s Cheetahs claimed 2025 as her BYE BYE (Best Year Ever) year.

If you’ve been here for more than five minutes, you’ll have already guessed. 2025 was not, in fact, Cleta’s BYE BYE year. In fact, if you look at the last 12 years or so, her results look like a lackluster yo-yo. Surely she should be making progress by now, right? 40 years in, and all she has to show for it is the same results as always.

But maybe that’s just the Negative Nelly in me talking. Because Cleta’s sure spinning a different tale. Just keep going. Just don’t quit. Next year will be better. Focus on the positive. Look at how much you’ve grown in the process. Blah blah blah.

Lather, rinse, repeat. 2026 will be her BYE BYE year since she and her unit didn’t measure up in 2025. Or maybe, just maybe, she’ll finally wise up and say BYE BYE to this loser of a company and its faux opportunity that does nothing but bleed people dry and spit them out.

  1. In those 40 years, Cleta poured a LOT of money into the coffers of Mary Kay, and into the pockets of her up-lines. She worked tirelessly to promote the Company and to search out, recruit, and train new sales-force members…on her own time and her own dime.

40 years, and no end in sight. Gotta keep workin’.

When the end does come, there won’t be a retirement package or pension from Mary Kay. The trips will stop, and the pink car will disappear from the driveway.

    Oh, well.

    • So many Cletas in Mary Kay. Thanks to Pink Truth and the internet not very many new Cletas joining the pack. The bathtub is draining faster than it can be refilled.

  2. So bye bye year meaning..? Bye bye to director because she’s becoming a national? If that’s the case she doesn’t have enough years to actually make a decent retirement. Unless she’s younger than I thought she was.

  3. Two things. First of all, how on earth did she get the car before even becoming a director?

Second, that timeline she’s so proud of is PROOF that being a director is the hamster wheel. Surely by now she should be a million dollar NSD and yet she has been spinning her wheels since the mid-1990s.

    • For decades, MK offered a car to consultants. So you could earn a “free car” and didn’t have to become a director.

SHe’s spinning her wheels like almost every sales director. LIterally, almost no one makes it to nsd. And lots and lots of directors lose their units because they can’t keep up minimum production. Just look at Jamie Taylor’s area. When Jamie became an nsd, she had 25 directors in her first and second lines. As of March 2025, she had lost 18 of those directors. Details here: https://www.pinktruth.com/wp-content/uploads/verge-former-directors.jpg (It’s the list of directors she had at debut, and the names crossed out have lost their units.)

  4. 40 years. If she’d worked in an actual job (or jobs) with retirement benefits and 401k and medical/dental benefits and all that in 40 years…and just socked away 5%-10% of her pay into a 401k…she’d have a cozy nest egg to retire with, as well as having paid more into Social Security than she probably has.

I suppose her husband probably has some sort of retirement savings because she doesn’t seem to be worried about it.
