Glass Skin Facials, the Fallout
Written by Frosty Rose
Loyal Pink Truth readers may remember this story from March where Taylor Bero was attempting an absolutely idiotic goal of doing 100 glass facials in one day. As a brief catch-up for those who missed the initial post, Taylor booked 100 faces in a single day, 60 ended up showing up, she purportedly sold over $3,000 and recruited 10. Sounds like a win, right? Ha!
At publication, I predicted then that within six months, Taylor was going to face backlash from her rush towards a goal without a point. The only real selling point for Mary Kay products is the personal relationship the customer builds with her consultant. And no one can speed through relationship building. With an average of ten minutes per customer that day, Taylor would have had to do significant work on the back end to reinforce relationships and maintain connection with all those people.
Well, dear readers. I will be the first to admit that I was wrong in my initial predictions. I was off by a month. Last week, only five months after the initial post, two different commenters left their Taylor experiences on the comment board.
MK4AMONTH sounds very much like this person may have signed up as a consultant for a single month. And that was enough to reveal that Taylor is nothing but an overgrown toddler, throwing tantrums when she doesn’t get her way. I’m shocked! Shocked, I tell you!
And poor Renee can’t even get the foundation that she paid for seven weeks ago! But, but, but! I thought Mary Kay consultants had to stock inventory because women these days won’t wait for their makeup! Rules for thee but not for me, I suppose.
So, just as predicted (if a little early), Taylor is burning relationships left right and center. And certainly not building a solid foundation for a strong, enduring business. A warning to all, don’t build the castle of your life on the sinking sand of Mary Kay or any other MLM.
To the original commenters, if you visit again and see this, please contact us and share the rest of the story. It’s always good to hear directly from those who are experiencing these crazy tactics in real time.
Yiiiiiiikes this is fun! So sorry these girls took the bait, but I’m so glad they found PT and shared!
I’m thrilled yall saw these comments on old posts! I hope they share that whole day with us!

Taylor seems to be struggling all around. She was desperately trying to finish the equinox by June 30th so she could then qualify for the Cadillac by September 30th.
Well, she’s STILL trying to qualify for the equinox.

Gosh, throwing everything at the wall and nothing sticking yet again fails to lead to business success. Who knew.
I’ve seen good salespeople in action. They focus on the customer and build up a rapport with them. They know their product inside out. They answer questions, even the stupid ones (YES, THERE ARE) patiently and concisely. Everything they do is for the customer’s satisfaction, because they know a happy, informed customer who trusts them is more likely to buy. This goes for everything from cars to cosmetics to restaurants to software support to banking.
If it’s a service, which “have your own MK ghyrrrlee!!!” is touted as, followup is key. Are they satisfied with the product. What issues do they have. Make good on any problems ASAP. You don’t need to hover, but you do need to be available.
It’s not “Here, smear this goo on our face. I dunno, it’s got nickelcinnamonbuns inside it or something. Care to sign up to have this much fun yourself? Hurry up. I’ve got a line waiting. Don’t worry, I’ll text you 27 times a day to find out when you’ll be ready to sign up. Horrifying pustules? That’s because you used it wrong. NEXT!”
Oh, and what with recruits being the golden fleece of the MLM world, don’t be a snotty little brat at them. And if you find someone actually willing to buy from you, don’t ghost them. After all, you don’t like it when people ghost you, even though they’ve got a hell of a lot better reason to do it.
