Show Me Your Parties
Written by Parsons Green
Retired* national sales director Linda Toupin recently asked consultants to post pictures of their Mary Kay parties. Mary Kay is the ONLY skin care company that cares about the multi generational relationship with customers.

Jeni Tjelle posted that she started her business when her twins were four months old. They watched her working her Mary Kay business along with handling her day to day life. They grew up learning the teachings of Mary Kay nsds such as Linda, Pamela Shaw, Cindy Williams and Kristin Sharpe.
Jeni recently helped two sister in law’s start their Mary Kay businesses. Each debut was filled with the new consultants’ family and friends. She then condescendingly says – if your friends don’t support your new business that you need to find new friends. Wal Mart, Tik Tok and Sephora don’t care about your family.

One of her consultants sold $942 for a “profit” of $471.The other sold $898 for $449. Jeni shared several pictures of the party including a large appetizer spread.

Also, if you’re thinking of joining Jeni’s unit she will expect you to wear a skirt or dress at any corporate event sponsored by Mary Kay. I wonder if she shares this before or after their initial inventory order.

Lori Maple brags that her new 18 year old consultant had what was most likely the biggest debut party ever. She had a goal to do 30 facials at the party – and she did! (Although most of the guests look to be under 18 so do they really count?) Lori doesn’t share how much this consultant sold.

Lori and Jeni are just two of many directors who will never become national sales directors. They don’t earn paid time off or have benefits from Mary Kay. They aren’t paying into a 401k with a company match and are responsible for their self employment tax. They are independent contractors bound to an agreement with Mary Kay that can cut them loose for any reason at any time. I wonder if they share with their new consultants how long their average consultant stays active. How many months that they’ve had to make co pays on their “free car”. How much they spend on expenses supporting their business? How do you find new leads when you’ve exhausted your friends and family?
Linda’s daughter Katie Candi Jenkins Toupin inherited her mother’s first line unit when Linda “retired”. However, she’s still trying to make Candi Jenkins happen. She recently posted on her Patreon that it costs $1250 a day to take a full band on the road. If you’d like to help, she has a tip jar. It currently has raised $1410. So much for executive income.

* Not really retired. Running Katie’s unit in a not-so-secret fashion… which used to be Linda’s unit… because who in their right mind would let a million dollar unit die just because the leader (on paper) doesn’t want to be involved with Mary Kay anymore?

“Did I mention she’s only 18 and is already one of the most amazing young entrepreneurs I’ve ever met?”
Nice try. Entrepreneurs create something new. This young lady is doing the same exact thing millions of others before her have done with Mary Kay.
Selling beauty products out of your home using an MLM system shared by millions of others makes you an MLM participant, not an entrepreneur.
You know, I find it amusing that Jeni is a strong supporter of skirts/dresses, yet she’s at the debut parties of her sister in-law’s in pants? Back in the day… I was taught to wear skirts/dresses to appointments because that’s the image MK wanted. Black skirt & beauty coat… anyone else remember this standard?
Yeah, who are the people wearing pants in those posted pictures????
