Kelly Fails Her Second DIQ Attempt
Written by Parsons Green
Kelly Green failed her first DIQ attempt and she was determined not to fail at her second. As you know, “director in qualification” (DIQ) is the 1 to 4 month process that a victim goes through to secure the position of sales director in Mary Kay. All you have to do to become a sales director is bring in 23 recruits (plus yourself) and get wholesale orders from them totaling $13,500 (if you finish in 3 months or less) or $18,000 (if you finish in 4 months). You also have to meet minimum orders per month and if you don’t, you have to start all over.
For this second attempt at DIQ, Kelly utilized a grab bag strategy. She offered both skin care and makeup bags in small and large sizes. (Grab bags are a great way to get rid of products that you otherwise can’t sell.)

The small bags cost $60 for $100 in products. The large bags cost $110 for $200 in product. Kelly would cover the shipping and taxes on any bag.
The small skincare bag contained these four products. Depending on the mini set, the wholesale cost to Kelly was between $47-$52.
- Mini Skin Care Set
- Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover
- Exfoliating Scrub
- Charcoal Face Mask
The large skincare bag contained five products with a $99 wholesale cost.
- Micellar Water
- Volu Firm Repair Mini Set
- Barrier Restore
- Hydrogel Eye Patches
- Full Size Microdermabrasion Exfoliating Set
The small makeup bag contained five products with a $47-$48 wholesale cost.
- Undereye Corrector
- Mascara
- Shimmer Eye Shadow Stick
- Foundation
- Eyebrow Clear Gel
The large makeup bag contained these products with a $97-99 wholesale cost.
- Full Brush Set
- Blending Sponge
- Foundation Primer
- CC Cream
- Powder
- Lipstick
- Lip Gloss
- Mascara
- Eyeshadow
Kelly also offered a specialized bags based on her own skin care and makeup routing for $115 or $135.
Kelly posted on February 27 that she needed 25 orders of $100 each. This message was so urgent, she had to post it while driving.

She then only needed 22.

Kelly took a break from the begging to share that she has been sleeping on an air mattress since Christmas. Her next goal is to buy a mattress and bed. Luckily Rachel Ryan and her fellow consultants in the Verge Unit jumped in and sent her $200 to put towards a mattress. She then posted that they’re still raising money for her bed frame.

On the last day of the month, she needed 21 orders and had 8 hours to go. These grab bags will only be available til the end of the day!!!!!

Kelly noticed a posting from a mother in a local Facebook group who was not able to afford birthday gifts for her 14 year old daughter. Kelly saw the post and was able to gift the mother with a makeup bag with several products in it. Kelly said it was the least she could do, her business is successful and gives her the opportunity to give back. She also shared this update while driving.

With 20 orders left, she shared that she would be finishing the goal that night. She will not start over.

Shockingly, Kelly did not meet the goal. She has one more month to finish the first month of DIQ. This time she will be relentless.

During this final push, Kelly also suggested that her followers join her team. She repeats the lie that you will earn 50% profits on all your sales. How can anyone believe this when Kelly spent the week showing that you have to heavily discount products. Even then, there’s no guarantee that you’ll sell anything. I’ve never been in Mary Kay, so I can feel confident when I go to sleep on my air mattress bed, that I haven’t had to lie to put food on my table.

Oh, Kelly, take the hint, quit the grind, return the junk, and get an actual job. Save up for a couple of months and buy a bed. Quit torturing your skin and get some Proactiv. A young coworker of mine swears by it. He also uses colorful star shaped pimple patches, which I think is kind of awesome.
Those “dream team values” are attributes, not values. Values would be things like honesty and integrity, which are nowhere to be found in MLMs like Mary Kay.
You know what else? At my current job I haven’t ever cried for not meeting a goal. I have gotten a little teary-eyed when citizens tell me their situations (medical illness, disability, or I read about a death in the medical records), but nothing to the point like she describes. Also, I am re- assured that I/ my office helped them in a small way. And Mary Kay ladies say a J-O-B is so awful?
She’s sleeping on an air mattress? And her “coworkers” had to pool together to give her $200 dollars? This is so sad. Peak level predatory tactics.
If I saw someone pleading for me to help them reach their sales goal, I am not going to do it. If I see someone selling items that interest me, I will look and consider! Begging is beyond absurd.
Kelly can’t afford a bed. She has her own successful business but she 1) can’t afford a bed, and 2) routinely begs for people to buy products from her so she can reach a goal, one of which is A BED.
I do not see any possibility for her to fail DIQ. These are such motivating actions!!
Reading this gave me PTSD anxiety. So sad.
I honestly feel so sorry for her. She’s being told that you can make money whenever you want, all you have to do is sell some products. But she wasn’t able to sell enough products to buy a bed. She can’t connect the dots to see what a scam this is.
And it’s gross how Rachel and Jamie have glommed onto this naive young lady and are pushing her toward directorship. They’re following the playbook of getting to her before she has time to learn what the real deal is.
Wholeheartedly agree! This girl looks like she’s barely out of high school. She is young, vulnerable, and naive. And these despicable women are exploiting her. They should be ashamed of themselves, but I guarantee they are lauding their generosity and charity.
Horrible cynical person that I am, I remember her bragging about being able to afford two tanks of gas, Monster Jam snacks, and some clothes with her MK earnings just a little while ago, and now she’s crying her eyes out because she’s sleeping on an air mattress because she can’t afford a bed. Ok, gas is a necessary evil, but you can live without $15 nachos and a new purse.
Is she really that hard up, or trying to tug on heartstrings? Does she just suck at money management? Is she out and out lying?
Yet another reason I’d never buy a thing from these beggy begging beggars who beg – I hate being manipulated.
Broke, no bed, looking grubby in her pictures and begging for sales- this mess is hard to watch. One bad decision after another.
Don’t buy anything from her or join her team. In this situation, the best way to help her is NOT to help her.
Even if she makes it to Sales Director, DIQ never ends.
These posts by Kelly are both sad and infuriating.
You’re flaunting an MK lifestyle, yet you don’t have the funds for a mattress or a bed frame. Sure, your nashy nash and senior sent you $200 (which can go a long way toward a decent frame and mattress from IKEA or Amazon). She continues to beg for sales and team members while she’s running on the hamster wheel.
Kelly, get out while you still have some sense and dignity left. Your nashy nash and senior don’t give two sh*ts about you and your lack of bed. They WANT you to keep churning and burning because it helps THEM.
If the products were so awesome, they’d be sharing testimonials and the benefits. And be able to sell for retail. But instead they are just begging for any sale at all.
She is saying her “successful business” allows her to give back but she can’t afford a bed? She’s begging for orders and sales with no success then asks you to join her team? The products are obviously not working for her based on the condition of her skin. The vultures strike when women are most vulnerable filling her head with false praise and the “you can do it” mantra. Fortunately for her, I doubt she will ever become a sales director. Only then will she finally realize there is no money to be made in Mary Kay.
Hold up, I just did some quick digging, and this chick is an accountant for NHL’s Buffalo Sabres. She has an authentically cool actual job, has to have an understanding of finances, and is still peddling this nonsense??? And sleeping on an air mattress? I take it back, I feel zero pity for her.
