I really wish Pink Truth would stop ruining things for women who are excited about starting Mary Kay. My new team member was SO excited when she signed her agreement and then her sister sent her a link to this site. Of course after reading here for an hour she suddenly had a million questions about inventory and how much directors make and how many people actually make money.

Why do you have to do that? Does this make you proud of yourself when you ruin someone’s dreams? Why is it up to you to decide if people partcipate???

My team member was excited! She had already made her list of 100 people and we were going to meet to talk about her inventory options. Now she says she wants to “think about it” before ordering anything. She even asked me to show her how much I made last year. That is honestly none of her business. I don’t know why anyone thinks I need to show them a tax return, but I have to be nice about it or she might quit.

I told her there will always be negative people trying to steal your dream. If you go looking for reasons something won’t work, of course you’ll find them. Successful people don’t spend hours researching all the reasons they might fail before they even get started.

She still hasn’t placed her inventory order and I’m pretty sure she’s not going to. So congratulations Pink Truth. You probably think you saved her from something. I think you just talked a woman out of taking a chance on herself.

And now our unit is short of our goal too, so thanks for that.

Wanna bet? Its called risk analysis, and successful people do this regularly.

PTC, your recruit’s questions are entirely reasonable. Your reaction is not.

“Successful people don’t spend hours researching all the reasons they might fail before they even get started.” Yes, they do, and that’s why they succeed. Armed with facts about income potential, expenses, market demand and competition they decide whether it will be profitable for them or not. If it’s too risky, they decline.

“after reading here for an hour she suddenly had a million questions about inventory and how much directors make and how many people actually make money.” So … she asked for the facts you didn’t tell her as you carefully steered her toward making an inventory order to boost your commissions and save your title? How inconvenient.

Why do you have to do that? Does this make you proud of yourself when you ruin someone’s dreams? Hell yes. We gave her the information she needed to ask questions about the reality of the glowing dream you were luring her with.

Why is it up to you to decide if people participate??? We don’t decide. We present facts. People who read the facts do the deciding.

You are telling her how successful you are, that she can have a real business, and yet you are incensed that she wants to know how successful your business is. Due diligence when investing in a business includes looking at the income and expenses of that business, the business debt load, the business banking accounts, the business credit card statements, the business tax returns. If you were an actual business you could hand over the BUSINESS records. But you are using personal accounts, aren’t you? And you have a boatload of credit card debt, don’t you?

TWENTY years ago I spent a lot of time analyzing income from Mary Kay, using the data provided by sales directors in their newsletters. I updated it ELEVEN years ago. It was dismal then and it’s worse now.

YASSSSS!!! A caring and intelligent sister, and icing the kicker all in one. Beautiful.

“Of course after reading here for an hour she suddenly had a million questions about inventory and how much directors make and how many people actually make money.”

Of course? So you know that unless you hide the truth, people will ask perfectly sensible questions you have no answers to? Why do you think job ads always make a point of listing the salary and benefits?

“…we were going to meet to talk about her inventory options.”

Why does she need inventory, with My Shop sometimes almost working and the Agreement itself telling you not to carry more than you can reasonably sell? Oh, yeah, your commission. Admit it; you were going to strongarm her into buying the most expensive package and pick the stuff yourself so she’d have to constantly reorder.

She wants to see your tax returns so you can prove that you actually make the money you say you do. Since you don’t, you’re trying to blame Pink Truth for your lies.

“Successful people don’t spend hours researching all the reasons they might fail before they even get started.”

LOLWUT. A bank won’t even give you a loan unless you do exactly that. My town won’t let you open a business unless you can answer questions about parking, occupancy, fire codes, road access, and pass all the inspections. If you can’t they won’t let you open no matter how much you pout.

“And now our unit is short of our goal too, so thanks for that.”
