Cheyenne’s Second Directorship

Written by Frosty Rose

Well, folks, the day has finally arrived. Pink Truth has a positive story of Mary Kay directorship success to share with you.

Cheyenne Husak (formerly Cheyenne Redding) joined Mary Kay in 2020. She was one of the original sales directors in Jamie Taylor’s area as an offspring of Rachel Ryan and got a couple of MK cars along the way.

As so many in Mary Kay do, Cheyenne eventually lost her unit. But who doesn’t love a good comeback story?

Cheyenne debuted as a new director on July 1 in what can only be described as a full-blown miracle. Haha, yeah right! Well, Cheyenne did make director for the second time, but you know this isn’t going to be a praise-filled missive about how great she is and how God himself and Mary Kay Ash (in that order!) pulled through to make her dreams come true.

On June 29, with two days left to finish, and 4 new consultants and $3,000 in production left to go, she published this ridiculous video on her Instagram.

Okay, so Cheyenne made director, but at what cost? Bear with me for a minute while I break down a few of her more salient points in the video.

First of all, and this is a personal pet peeve, can we stop perpetuating the myth that all female emotions are tied to “that time of the month”? Women, just like men, can be stressed out, scared, sad, excited, or teary the other three weeks of the month, too. But what else do we expect from a company so committed to empowering women? Gross.

Second. Your husband does something kind for you and it’s a “God-wink” not hubby being thoughtful? “For some odd reason” he stopped by a Lego store. “Why else other than God”? Uh… maybe because your husband actually likes you? At this point, I’m honestly not sure why, but, hey, to each their own.

Third. T.M.I. “This is not just a business for me.” Stop oversharing, for the love of all that’s right in the world! “I am Mary Kay and Mary Kay is me.” Cult much? And the obsession with meeting Ryan Rogers. Girlfriend, he does not even know your name. Nor does he care. He sees your money-making potential because you’re fully committed to churning through people in pursuit of your own success. And that success enriches him far more than it does you.

“I don’t think you understand what this company has done for me mentally.” Yeah. I do. Been there, done that. My mascara ran all over the dang place, too. Because I was stressed out of my brain chasing goals that couldn’t be caught and tanking my family’s finances in the process.

But maybe Cheyenne finished directorship honorably? It’s possible, I suppose. Let’s look at her mentors to see how they acted in moments of stress, when the goal looked too far out of reach.

Rachel Ryan, Cheyenne’s senior director, has had her own front-page article within the last year.  Well, that behavior explains the oversharing and social media tear fests.

Both Rachel and Cheyenne are in Jamie Taylor’s struggling national area. Helpfully, Jamie shared the behind-the-scenes of finishing big goals at the last minute. You know, the part where your downline sacrifices their own profitability to finance your title.

The only possible conclusion to all this mess is that Cheyenne cheated at the end of the month. She signed up her mom and her sister and great aunt Betty. She begged, pleaded and cajoled her downline to order more than they’ll ever sell, and put the balance on her personal credit cards. Because that’s what Rachel and Jamie taught her to do. Because that’s what every Mary Kay director does to finish qualifications, especially at the last minute.

Because Cheyenne finished this “goal” in July, she earned another trip back to Dallas. Rachel earned a necklace and bracelet and she will share the prize with Cheyenne.

Rachel and Cheyenne’s efforts helped Jamie earn the #6 spot in diamond. This is her highest finish so far as an national sales director! (Funny how you can lose almost all the directors who were there at the beginning of your national area, and still you have what cult members see as a successful business venture.)

Again, Cheyenne “won” the game and earned the title. But at what cost? And was it really worth it for something that she’ll lose by the end of the calendar year?

But maybe she’ll be the exception and keep her unit this time? After all, she did declare herself a “Mary Kay lifer” in this May post on IG.

  1. It is now August. All the hoopla and excitement of Seminar is starting to wear off. All the July director debuts are starting their first full month as a Sales Director. The consultants who over-ordered product to help the “unit” will likely not order this month. So, the brand new directors, many who jacked up their credit cards to finish, will now start over trying to personally recruit or helping unit members recruit. They’ll need those big orders to make production or risk charging even more on their own cards. And so the minute they step off the airplane from Seminar they step onto the hamster wheel that has already started to spin.

  2. It’s 2025, Harry Potter peaked over a decade ago, “a little nerd thing” is a now mainstream especially if Lego is making them.

  3. I just want to make ”mentor sand friends” happen again.

Because when you really think about it, sand friends describes them well haha.

    • Friends — and a business — built on sand. Her story fits.

“All who listen to my instructions and follow them are wise, like a man who builds his house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents, and the floods rise and the storm winds beat against his house, it won’t collapse, for it is built on rock.”

“But those who hear my instructions and ignore them are foolish, like a man who builds his house on sand. For when the rains and floods come, and storm winds beat against his house, it will fall with a mighty crash.” ~~ Matthew 7:24-27

      Waiting for the next crash.

      • Part of that crash could very well be God’s wrath for taking His word so far out of context. They’re experts at morphing His word to fit what they’re doing.

  4. I just know she’s a pain. They have to hold her hand through everything. Deep down they’re thinking “lose your unit and don’t come back” but they need the numbers so would never admit it or say it out loud. Actually, I can see Jamie being an absolute monster with the doors closed then say what needs to be said when they open again. Before lurkers come at me, I’ve seen it so don’t even try to say that doesn’t happen with these perfect MK celebrities. I had one unit member like that. She exhausted me going in and out of diq. She finally T’d out and I was relieved. That feeling was one of my first wake ups. I wasn’t going to keep people around just for numbers. Well, you have to in order to succeed. If Rachel was in a more chill area she might wouldn’t feel that pressure. But every voice around her is “take anyone and everyone even if they spike your blood pressure”. Every decision made is for the social Media posts. Rachel’s daughter’s suit had exactly 0 to do with pouring into her daughter and everything to do with the likes she’d get. Whatever. Enjoy your lives girlfriend. I’m tired just catching up with these stories. Imagine living them.

  5. The whole article reads a like a ridiculous roller coaster ride. One that you pay a lot of money to get on, at that. Love how she keeps forcing God into the MLM game.

  6. Since MK only has a Director’s jacket now, the look is not great. Maybe I’m getting old, but those outfits look anything but professional, if that’s what they are aiming for.
