A few years ago, someone asked in a Mary Kay director’s group on Facebook about the explanation of why MK is not an MLM. (Here’s the nonsense corporate wrote about that.)

And it took no time at all for group members to bring up Pink Truth. They’re mean! They made me cry! If they spent as much time on MK as they do on PT, they’d all be NSDs!!!!

Possibly the most laughable statement is the last one about the high quality diamonds. Mary Kay diamonds are the cheapest of the cheap. They are referred to in the industry as “frozen spit.” They are cheap. They are terrible. But MK gets to say they’re diamonds, and that’s all that matters.

  1. I just love how these delicate hothouse blossoms toss around the word “evil” while nursing their boo-boo fee-fees. Someone criticizing your employer (no, you’re NOT running your own business no matter how many #Bossbabe coffee mugs you buy yourself) isn’t evil.

What is evil? Exploiting widows, the disabled, the elderly, the bereft, the naive. Taking advantage of a family relationship or friendship and using their love and/or desire to keep the peace to manipulate them. Encouraging others to break their marriage vows and ignore their children while using them as emotional blackmail to others. Seeing other people only as means to an end.

Who does those things? Mary Kay people do those things. The stories are all in the archives of this site, over and over again, year after year, day after day, the people who have been victimized and those who did those things and couldn’t see it for what it was until something happened that popped the bubble, and the realization of what they’d done hit them head-on. Your precious Mary Kay is evil. Your precious sisterhood will turn on you in a fat second if given half a chance because you’re only worthwhile to your SD and NSD as long as you continue to earn them money and cars and accolades

And for what is this evil done? For a chance at some meaningless title, a few trinkets, and maybe a chance to appear on stage someday while others clap while thinking they deserve it more than you. That’s not just evil; it’s pathetic.

    Smooches!!!!!<3

  2. “I must be up to something big if the devil is after me today” so sayeth Kali

This kind of things reminds me of a scene at the beginning of Good Omens where the demons Hastur and Ligor are talking about planting the seeds of temptations in a priest and a politician which will take decades to corrupt them while Crowley took down the cellphone network around London potentially corrupting millions of people at once.

Crowley would be behind MLMs. Each lie, each abuse of God’s name, each covetous look at thy neighbour’s caddy, each worship of MK herself; each a small but cumulative sin willingly committed in pursuit of an illusion of fame and fortune. Slowly and surely surrendering the small evils. If some supernatural entity is behind MLMs, it’s not God.

I can’t get over the arrogance that these ladies have, that Satan himself is worried about them personally. Nope, you got a Great Value demon at best, or maybe the Wish version at worst.

I’ve heard stories about how women have been told that Mary Kay stands at the right hand of the father( and I’m still chanting that the same way I did every Sunday as a child, old habits die hard I guess!). I was told that was Jesus’s place, that He would intercede with God for me. Or maybe Mary would. Jesus and Mary would do it out of their love for each person. But MK would have to be faced and placated by your sales in her company before she would judge you worthy. So that’s one Commandment failed, the First.

The fact that large pictures of the lady herself are pasted everywhere shows the Second Commandment is largely neglected too.

The poor Third Commandment never stood a chance. Just look at all the abuse heaped on it above.

The Fourth Commandment has been abused by so many MK ladies seeking yet another soul at many a post-church brunch.

The Fifth Commandment is honoured by making your mother your down-line to be
re-activated when you just have to get that last burst of sales at 11pm on the 30th day.

The Eighth Commandment, well where do I start. MK steals not only money from her consultants but also their time, energy, dreams and family.

The Ninth, bear false witness against your neighbour. Maybe not against but lying to your neighbour about money, cars, money, jewels, money, time and money certainly seems to be the order of the day. Oh and don’t forget to brag about your 50% profit, ladies.

The Tenth Commandment, do not covet but be sure to rub people’s faces in your spit gemstones and pretty pink Cadillacs while you drool over your upline’s escalade and house.

And let’s not talk about the suits that have two types of fabric. I could probably go on about the Biblical abuse spread by these ladies but I have stuff to do, boring trivial every day stuff that doesn’t get close to twisting the tenets of any religion.

  4. I think my favorite line was “I sent it to legal by the way all her messages.”

That is, until I saw Pam Moore’s story about her imaginary jeweler. (You wouldn’t know him; he lives in Canada.)

  5. Why do some of these comments make think these MK ladies have never ever actually worked in a customer service job or been criticized for anything they e ever done….

My goodness I have been at work for just over an hour & already have been yelled at twice by customers, listened to a voicemail that had profanity in it. … If a post stating proven facts makes you cry, cry, cry…. I cringe to think how poorly you’d react to being told criticism at a real Job….

  6. “…pull up Mary Kay’s voice and teachings now!!!”

Um…please tell me how that isn’t weird and kind of culty…😳

    • That’s what I was thinking. Unable to reason against any criticisms of Mary Kay, they are left with: “Block it. Shut it out. Don’t listen.” Step 1 in the Cult Leader’s Handbook: Isolate the victim.
