I’m going to breakdown the statement “Pink Truth is a place that attracts cyber bullies” when it’s actually Mary Kay that deliberately trains people to become bullies.

In order to communicate effectively we need to define our terms.

Wikipedia defines bullies as “the use of force, coercion, hurtful teasing or threat to abuse aggressively, dominate or intimidate. Behaviour is repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception (by the bully or by others) of an imbalance of power. This imbalance of physical or social power distinguishes bullying from conflict.

Bullying is a sub category of aggressive behaviour characterized by hostile intent, imbalance of power and repetition over a period of time.

I will address the imbalance of power first. The entire structure of Mary Kay shows who is in power and who is not. You are even colour coded and decorated to show how much or how little power you have.

Next, coercion is a mainstay of Mary Kay and it’s an open secret. Often (not always) people are coerced into signing up. You are definitely coerced into buying inventory. You can’t hide that fact just because you call it “coaching”.

Consultants are often coerced into attending meetings, conferences, retreats and of course Seminar no matter what their personal circumstances are. There is a lot more coercion happening but I think I’ve made my point.

As for hurtful teasing or threat of abuse I am reminded of consultants who shared that they had to hold on to stuffed skunks at unit meetings because of their negative attitudes or lack of sales/recruits/sane questions etc. public humiliation is abuse. The threat of it by directors and higher ups is very real. “Lazy losers, negative Nellie’s, bad apples etc.” are just a few examples of the bullying that takes place in MK. There are even letters in existence written by Mary Kay herself shaming consultants. This is not “coaching” either.

Hostility and domination are cornerstones of the Mary Kay faith. Open hostility happens whenever someone higher up the pyramid doesn’t like your attitude/questions/sanity/refusal to take on more debt etc. it also happens when you leave MK. You are labeled and shunned. Heaven forbid you want to return your inventory.

All of these things are on a constant repetitive loop. These actions are expected, perpetuated, encouraged and celebrated.

Since it’s obvious that Pink Truth is a large and thriving community it should be apparent that these are not isolated incidents. This is the true culture of MK. If you disagree you are not being honest with yourself. I know there are some folks who truly had good intentions, but most of you recognize deep down that you are banking on your downline to lose money so you can make money.

You know you’re recruiting people who don’t have enough money to pay their way through an MK career. You knowingly prey on vulnerable people using awful tactics to drag people into the pyramid because people are just numbers to you.

Your recruits are your real customers because you need their orders to meet production to sustain your life, drive your car, “earn” your own prizes trips etc. the sad thing is you don’t realize you are also MK’ corp’s true customer even though you know outside sales are not important.

I think it’s time to look in the mirror and into your heart with pure honesty to decide who the real bullies are. I really hope you do so you can turn your life around.
