You’re Obsessed with Mary Kay
I honestly don’t understand why anyone would spend this much time talking about Mary Kay after they quit. If I leave a job, I move on. If I stop shopping somewhere, I don’t build an entire website about it. Yet here you all are, year after year, writing article after article about a company you supposedly hate.
That tells me Mary Kay wasn’t the problem. You just never got over whatever happened to you. Maybe your director hurt your feelings. Maybe you didn’t become a director when you thought you deserved it. I don’t know. But healthy people don’t spend 20 years talking about something they claim they left behind.
The funniest part is that you all think you’re helping women. I think you’re just scaring people away from an opportunity because it didn’t work for YOU. There are thousands of women still enjoying their Mary Kay business. They aren’t online complaining because they’re too busy living their lives.
Maybe its time to let it go.

Lets assume there are still 500K reps in MK today. Research for the FTC shows that 0.4% (or one in 250) of MLM reps turn a true business profit. This means roughly 2000 in today’s MK sales force are not losing money.
PTC, you are right about the “thousands”. And some others may still enjoy MK participation in spite of losing money. But this is not nearly the flex you think it is.
If there is a giant pothole in the road, warning others about it is the right thing to do in order to protect others. The Mary Kay “opportunity” is a huge financial and mental pothole- and we will continue to warn others about the inevitable damage it will cause.
If I leave a job because the pay is lousy, or you’re horrendously overworked, or treated like crap by management, I’m not going to build a website but I will spread the word around so others know to avoid the place. Ditto if I stop shopping at a store because of poor selection or rude staff.
People leave negative reviews for on LinkedIn, on Yelp, on Trustpilot, on Reddit, on other social media. There are websites that are anti Amazon, Walmart, Disney, Hobby Lobby, Chick-fil-A, and pretty much every other big corporation out there.
Mary Kay doesn’t get a pass. Furthermore it squelches all negativity within its sphere of influence. Tracy is simply providing the other side of the story since they won’t.
To borrow from another Disney villain song, it’s good to have friends on the other side.

I left a supposedly great job in 2022 because it sucked. Leadership was abysmal, and the nursing staff didn’t have the support everyone thought they did. There were far too many unsafe practices, and staffing ratios were insane. (I was in the ICU with three patients. One of them was on CRRT — a type of continuous, slow dialysis. At every other hospital, a patient like that has a single dedicated nurse. I had two other patients plus this one. I handed over my badge that day and walked out the door without a plan.)
This hospital still has a crappy reputation, even though it’s part of a larger health system. I tell others about my experiences on different units and let them decide whether that’s where they really want to work. MK is no different than any other company. I will continue to share my experiences with both MK and that hospital system so others can make up their own minds and protect their sanity (and bank accounts).
Newsflash: R E A L girlfriends warn each other. Sorry you don’t carry the code. We will be here when you come back defeated and bankrupt since you are enrolled in the school of hard knocks. Ask yourself, how often does my director REALLY hold shows? Recruit ladies who are REALLY working their business and show up at every MK event? Is she divorced? How is MY credit card(s) looking? How are my finances REALLY since joining MK? Has my debt increased in any way? Am I stressed over finances? Arguing with hubby (if married)? There are several more tests you can run, but this is a start, IF you have courage.

Because everything changes. The people change, policies change, products change, we are just providing commentary on these changes. The only thing that hasn’t changed as of yet is the constant financial abuse of the downlines.

We have screenshots showing just how much IBCs, SDs and NSDs are complaining about how hard it is to “book, sell, book, recruit” on a regular basis. Not to mention how they frequently they whine about the products.

There is a lot of trauma when you spend the first 10 years of your adult life being scammed and having all of your “girlfriends” abandon you because of a career change. Mourning the loss of all of your best friends and dreams simultaneously does require validation from others who experienced it.
Give it a test. Just tell them you are quitting and if nobody un friends you within a week, go ahead and stay in.
And yes, I did 5 of those years as a director. Your relationships are conditional. Funny thing, every director who quit I was told had an abusive/controlling husband or a drinking problem. I found out from rumors after I left that I also had an abusive husband and drinking problem. 😅🧐
Leaving was the best decision. Now I have authentic friendships, a career that allows me to actually work my own schedule, and I get to travel frequently without mandatory meetings and forced corny photo ops. I don’t have to post how much fun I’m having eating salad and dry chicken breast and unsweetened iced tea, or the obligatory face mask in pajamas slumber party pic.
Do it for yourself, end of the month is quite enjoyable now.
