Chelsea’s 100 Face Day

Written by Parsons Green

Chelsea Adkins held an event for skin care and makeup consultants over the weekend. She hoped to have 100 Faces in attendance. It was held at her church.

She offered swag bags to all guests. One winner would get a fabulous grand prize that also included a Casemate bag! (Currently $99 on Amazon)

I would have gone for the snack bag alone. I wonder why she didn’t throw in a penis straw?

The cleaning bucket was chock full of goodies.

The leather jewelry and hair clip was of Louis Vuitton quality.

And Robin Marshall donated a copy of her international best selling journal with a complimentary branded hand towel!

In the days leading up to the event, Chelsea realized she had not included an option for the 2pm slot on the RSVP form. Oops!

Chelsea did not post updates during the event. When she arrived home, she stated she had been up since 5am and it was shortly after 10pm. Her mother was the RSVP, who donated her time in preparing all the food, setup, and also the cleanup.

Sadly, Chelsea didn’t meet her goal. She thinks she only had 80 faces. There were a lot of children and teenagers in attendance and she wasn’t including them in the count. She admits she sold $4000 in discounted products. Chelsea’s usual discount at events like this is 40%.

Unfortunately, she only signed up six new consultants. On the bright side, her makeup survived a 17 hour day without the need for touchups! And she did select a winner for the prize! (While also showing her profile card and phone numbers)

How much time and money did Chelsea spend planning this event? How much free product did she give away? She clearly showed everyone in attendance that it pays to wait for a sale with Chelsea. She will never charge you full price for any of your products. So yes, she may have brought in $4,000, but she likely lost money on the event because of the big discounts and the cost of the hosting the day.

Does she ever stop to think about how Mary Kay never charges her a discounted price on her wholesale product unless they’re discontinuing a line? If you were thinking of signing up to sell Mary Kay do you think this event would show that you could successfully sell this product?

  1. She reported later that she had sold over $7,500 retail. She took in $4,000 cash. That product cost her MORE THAN $3,750 with her discount. So IF she didn’t pay anything for the space at her church, and IF she didn’t pay the people helping her all day anything, and IF all of the items in the goodie bags were donated, which are all huge assumptions and unlikely to be true, she made LESS THAN $250 for the whole day. My parents, who live 5 miles past the middle of nowhere, do better than that having a yard sale.

    • She had Robin Marshall and Ardis Cook there to help. They are directors under Lynnea Tate. Why in the hell would you donate your weekend time to help with this nonsense????

    • OH! I FORGOT SALES TAX! North Carolina has a 4.75% sales tax rate, so Chelsea pre-paid $356.25 in sales tax on that $7,500 retail order. Before any other expenses, she lost over $100. PITIFUL!!

  2. I doubt Chels made more than a 5% profit on her sales from this event. However, some of the goodies and give-a-ways sounded good, especially the car detailing one.

  3. How much did she spend on the “catered refreshments”?

I believe the sign-up form showed no minimum age requirement. With kids and teens there, I can picture them descending on the food and drinks like locusts. And did Chelsea do makeovers on teens who had no money or intention of buying anything? And were not old enough to sign up as a consultant? Sounds like a waste of time.

I think about those small businesses who donated prizes. Those small businesses also need to make money, and they gave away some nice items. I’m seeing more and more MK consultants advertising these “50 Faces in One Day” gimmicks and they, too, are begging local businesses to donate. It gets old fast.

Someone we know owns a business and gets requests for raffle donations from organizations like the local Volunteer Fire Dept. or Little League. That’s a lot different from this MK “I’m breaking a record for one-day facials” nonsense.

  4. You forget that her real purpose was getting 6 new recruits. A side benefit was getting rid of inventory so that she could purchase more inventory for the end of June. Remember, she has a car and, a trip, and who know what else that she’s aiming for. She wasn’t aiming for sales. Her aim was recruiting. THAT is the purpose os all MLMs.

Now she will try to get them to get as high of an inventory package as possible from them by June 30 thus reducing their 3-month window. And by the way, it also significantly reduces potential prize opportunities for the next year built on that initial purchase since the new year starts July 1. Thanks Chels, for looking out for yourself first.
