Mary Kay’s New Pink Cadillac

As of September 1, 2025, the only pink Cadillac available to Mary Kay sales directors is the electric OPTIQ. The directors who earned their Cadillac in June still got the XT5, but now the choice is to take the electric car or the cash compensation.

From the qualifiers in September, exactly TWO have taken Mary Kay’s Cadillac: the rude and ever-entitled Casie Hembree and our very own never-million-dollar-director Chelsea Adkins.

    • It seems like another sneaky way to get people to stop taking the Caddie – and then they can discontinue the program altogether.
If you don’t make production with the cash option, that’s a better deal for MK!

      • I would agree with you except for the fact that the pink Cadillac has been MK’s most successful marketing tool. It costs them nothing because the costs are covered by consultants ordering products they don’t need OR by the director’s copay. But the cars are iconic and attention-getting and have been a source of lots of positive public perception and they are used as a great recruiting tool.

  1. A few reasons for this being the only option:
    1. A huge discount from GM. Electric cars are not what most Americans want. GM unloaded them at a huge discount.
    2. MOST sales directors do not live where a charging station is convenient. And, if they are still driving tons of miles to try to save their business, it isn’t time effective to sit and charge. Or, drives hundreds of miles and try to find somewhere to charge.
    3. By fewer QUALIFYING and actually taking it, the company can show the decrease and no longer offer it.

  2. Meanwhile….the member of housekeeping who (legally, legitimatel and according to Marriot policy) acquired the pink jacket enjoys wearing it while she works and pretends to be the most obnoxious Mary Kay lady on the planet to entertain her coworkers!

  3. I just checked the Cadillac website and for 2026 – out of 12 SUVs, 7 are electric and 5 are still gas powered, so it looks like they dialed back on that a bit. I really love my plug-in hybrid as I feel it’s the best of both worlds. I don’t even know if they’re still being made. But really at the end of the day, it’s Cadillac/GM’s decision more than MKC, I would think. MKC has to accept whatever GM wants to provide. How many MK Cadillacs are on the road right now? Maybe a little over 1,000? GM isn’t going to bend over backwards for MKC and MKC isn’t going to go to a different brand of vehicle after more than 5 decades of being associated with Cadillac (at least IMO).

  4. Hold up. A former friend, who long floated away on the pink bubble, was trying to requalify for the pink Caddie in September because she missed it in June. Naturally, it was plastered all over her socials – tons of questions about EVs, tons of empty squares to color in, tons of panhandling. (Oops, I mean selling.) October 1st came and went pretty quietly, and I thought, well, she didn’t make it. But she keeps putting up pics with it. However, she is not one of the two mentioned in this article. So how does that work exactly? Is she just paying for the car at this point?

      • Gotcha. When would the old one go back? I still strongly suspect she didn’t make it – she was far too quiet and lord knows the huns are never particularly humble.

    • Once her the lease on the old Caddy is up, the director does have the option of buying the car. So… if she doesn’t want to have the electric car, she could take the cash compensation and buy her old Caddy so that she could still have a pink car.

Or maybe her new car isn’t ready yet.

      Or maybe she didn’t qualify.

      • That is what my SD(MIL) did when she fell out of caddie qualifications… she bought her caddie and continued to drive it. It’s extremely sad that she couldn’t deal with not being in a caddie and that her identify was totally wrapped up in the illusion of being successful and what other people thought of her.

The longer I’m out of MK, the more pathetic the culture becomes to me.
