Already Complaining About 2027 Seminar Prizes
Mary Kay can’t win with the consultants and directors. Remember when we were told to be grateful for any prizes we got? That they are all “extra” for the work we were already going to do.
At the start of this month, Mary Kay made an official announcement that the award jewelry was now going to include lab grown diamonds and sterling silver to save money. (Yes, folks, Mary Kay Inc. appears to still be bleeding money!)
Sales director Melissa Hurd is bothered with this. She wonders why consultants and directors have to hit the same order levels to qualify for this “costume jewelry.” (Yo, Melissa… The jewelry is actually going to look much prettier with lab grown diamonds versus the crappy quality natural diamonds that were previously used.)
But I get it, Melissa. You bought into the idea that you were getting valuable jewelry. You weren’t. Throw out those “appraisals” you have, and accept that your rings are worth gold scrap value only.

Yet another change that has the sales force up in arms. And another change for MK corporate to save money, but they still want those massive orders of inventory. Don’t be surprised if they up that Queens court goal to a nice round $50K retail in the near future.
The consultants got an update to their agreement yesterday. Looks like a lot of CYA is going on at corporate.

Ah, the power of the symbolic trinket! Ladies, take Mary Kay out of it and buy yourself a car and some jewelry. These things are much cheaper and much less hassle when purchased directly! Not to mention your family and friends will be so much happier for you…especially if you pay for these things with a regular, paying job!
When you leave Mary Kay, your F+F will be cheering. Just not in your hearing, as they don’t want to hurt your feelings. But the cheering will be real. They will also wince for a while hoping you don’t just hop to another MLM and come back to shake them down for even more money.
Break free from MLM and make your family and friends happy! You will be happier too! Imagine the pride of buying these things for yourself without the humiliation of having to beg your family and friends! You can smile while you drive your car knowing your F+F did not have to spend a penny to help you!
I thought they were spit diamonds anyway – the sort Lowes use on grinder disks. There’s a few PTers who took jewels for appraisal at a jewellers and were told they were spit, gold plated steel and worth only scrap value ($30 melt value tops).

My thought was: Do lab-grown diamonds come in that poor of quality that Mary Kay uses?
The simple answer is no. Some lab-grown diamonds are created specifically for industrial use, so maybe that is where MK is getting theirs.
This post was only up for a short amount of time and was GONE by the time I heard about it and went running for the comments. Shani from Shani’s Office is the moderator of this group and they typically approve everything that is posted. (Multiple posts about Monica’s Special Deals, the new agreement, etc) so the comments must have been REALLY good! She only usually deletes stuff with a lot of fighting.
I have a gorgeous bracelet that contains lab-grown diamonds and other stones. (I bought myself a graduation prezzie and didn’t have to order a single lipstick!) Lab-grown diamonds are still diamonds. They aren’t “fake” or “costume” jewelry, and yes, they do cost less. The lab-grown diamonds have fewer flaws and are “cleaner” stones than anything mined, and they are certainly nicer than the spit diamonds MK typically uses for prizes.
These consultomers should be rejoicing that they will be buying court prizes of higher quality!
Yes, lab grown are 100% diamonds, they have less of a markup because they bypass the De Beers monopoly. Also, they’re ethical. No mutilated child slaves were used to produce them.
Exactly! When I saw the price, I was stoked since it was nearly HALF the cost of a similar bracelet with traditional diamonds. It’s sparkly and makes me smile.
And I don’t have to worry about getting conflict diamonds from some country selling stones mined by small children to fund wars.

No one can tell the difference between natural and lab grown, they’re identical even with a microscope. They are chemically, physically, and optically the same.
EVERY change lately has only benefited MK and has done so at the expense of the consultants. How much more are they willing to accept?
In the pink bubble all is well. The pink Titanic hasn’t hit an iceberg, affiliate isn’t coming (MK PROMISED US GUUUYYYZZZ) and Ryan isn’t going to pull the plug, hop on his Gulfstream to the Caymans and send an email “goodbye and thanks for the fish” like what happened to NZ-AUS. Those of us outside the pink bubble can see it’s imploded and is in freefall and about to splat onto the consultants and leave them covered in sticky, pink goo (and endless inventory that’s unsellable and millions in CC debt).
Exactly! I heard it explained this way: A flower grown in a garden vs. a flower grown in a greenhouse. They are both flowers.
They call lab grown diamonds “costume jewelry.” Lab grown diamonds are *real diamonds.* They’re not cubic zirconia or some other look-alike.
They’re very popular right now as you can get a larger and higher quality stone for a better price. The only ones complaining about it are the mined diamond cartel De Beers and the jewelry stores trying to rip you off with the rare mined diamond lie.
Diamonds are not and never have been rare, their value has always artificially inflated (De Beers, which has a monopoly, hoards jewelry grade stones in their vaults.) The only truly valuable stones are ones that are unusually large like the Hope Diamond, those stones start at six figures, or diamonds worn by someone very famous like Marilyn Monroe. Some may be more valuable for being an unusual or “fancy” color (not brown, those are flawed stones marketed as “rare.” They’re not.)
The spit diamonds in their rings and bees have always been virtually worthless. If they had walked into a jewelry shop or pawn shop asking for thousands, hundreds, or even tens of dollars for the diamonds the clerk would have laughed them out of the store.
With lab grown diamonds better jewelry pieces can potentially be offered.
Switching from gold to sterling silver, that’s where the value drops. Their bees had at least 10k gold they could sell for scrap metal. Silver is less valuable.
Agree. I have no problem with lab-created diamonds. In fact, I’m trying to persuade my husband that a tennis necklace made with lab-created diamonds would please me more than one with natural diamonds. The shift to silver, however, is a definite downgrade. Diamonds mounted in silver–really?!!! Come on!
I suspect it’s going to be gold-plated over silver. Gives you the same look as 10k or 14k gold, but saves money.
I have the cake ring (the pink) – one onyx, one sapphire and one diamond, and it is a beautiful ring. That being said, it’s one of the nicest pieces of jewelry I have seen them offer. Instead of complaining, they should be grateful that this newer stuff looks so much better than the junk they’ve received previous years.
But I guess when you are depending on ordering to earn, you get what you deserve. I didn’t have to chase anyone down to get mine.
The same people that drool over the Temu garbage trinkets Somer and the other NSDs give them are upset over higher quality diamonds.

Buy a clue from Alex…soon, there will be NO jewelry! The cuts keep happening. Buy another clue, MK consults are getting squeezed out of a job. You are not wanted. Oh wait, most haven’t held a professional job, so they don’t know. Ok…shhhhh.
