Crowning 46% of a Million
Written by Parsons Green
For the fifth time, Mary Kay sales director Chelsea Adkins was “crowning million.” This means her unit would order about $500,000 of wholesale products from MK Inc., and everyone would pretend they sold all of it at suggested retail pricing with no discounts. (I assure you, only a small fraction of the products ordered are sold, and there are lots of discounts involved in that selling.)
Chelsea had boldly proclaimed that she was going to be a million dollar director in July 2021 for the 2022 seminar year. Every year she was claiming that million! This seminar year was no exception.
In a development that surprised no one except Chelsea, her unit didn’t even come close to the million dollar mark. She didn’t even make it halfway there!

How did Chelsea get to this level of repeat failures? After all, she doesn’t do this for herself, she does it to help other women!!!

It’s been 12 years on the hamster wheel, and Chelsea is no closer to that million dollar mark.

Chelsea finished last seminar year (June 2025) at the $500,000 unit club ($250,000 wholesale) and her team signed up 169 consultants. The year supposedly equipped her to finally finish million in 2026.

In July, she treated her 3 offspring directors to a slumber party. She gifted them with jean jackets and personalized tote bags.

As a high volume purchaser, Chelsea was asked to teach a class at seminar.

She found her old director suits. She’ll hold on to them when she debuts as an NSD.

Chelsea shared that Mary Kay chose her to appear in their “It Just Fits” recruiting series. She states that Mary Kay lets women be influencers. (Can you imagine ELEVEN YEARS of this hamster wheel???)

Chelsea announced in August that she had requalified for the pink Cadillac and finished one month early. Mary Kay surprised Chelsea by letting her drive home the new electric Cadillac that was on display at Leadership!

A consultant shared that Chelsea mentioned in one of her Leadership talks that you need to bring back shaming consultants who aren’t meeting their goals. She quickly pointed out that quote came from her nsd Jamie Taylor.

Chelsea also shared how much time and money she spends on charging this Cadillac.

She had a new director, Aundrea Smiley, debut on March 1st!

At career conference, Chelsea and her team had matching outfits and wigs for their stage walk as a Cadillac unit.

In April, she shared that she finished the court of sales contest early.

In May, Taylor McKnight and Chelsea were invited to Dallas to participate in the Empowered Leaders Event. (This year the company invited sales directors who had four or more offspring). Fun fact – Chelsea brags that Taylor is an Elite (8 sales directors under her) — and guess what — Taylor has since lost two sales directors and now only has six. During this trip, Chelsea got to visit the corporate headquarters and one of the highlights was seeing the boardroom where she was told – this is where we will appoint you nsd!

As the year wrapped up, Chelsea frantically needed 4 new consultants to finish her court of sharing bee. She also shared a story about how a customer called her for an appointment and spent $600 in cash

All of this alleged success throughout the year, and Chelsea couldn’t do even HALF of the million she’s been chasing for the last 5 years.
The Top Directors Trip in 2027 will be to Rome. Chelsea has named it and claimed it that she will be on this trip and also be a million dollar director. Let’s see how Chelsea succeeds with both goals. (Yea, I’m prewriting my 2027 article now… LOL.)

Visit the
Directors earn a 23% commission on their unit volume (wholesale). Sure, there’s a bonus here and there for debuting a new director and requalifying for Cadillac. BUT. All that effort, and she’s earning less than $60,000/year. I’d feel sorry for her if she weren’t so ridiculous.
Thanks for pointing that out!
With a title like “Elite Executive Senior Sales Director” you’d really think it would be more, if it was only other company than Mary Kay.
Ummm….Chelsea, Nemacolin is a resort, not a town or city. You visited Farmington, PA.
It just gets thicker and thicker don’t it?
PG- another stellar post!
Thank you thank you. I love writing these type of posts because I want potential recruits to see how damn HARD it is to make any type of money doing this!!!!!!!! Especially from directors who have been in so long!
What potential recruits also need to know is that Chelsea is the Queen of BOGOs and discounts…constantly posting them on social media. So when she takes a wholesale number and doubles it and then claims that’s how much she or her unit has actually sold, she is LYING. It is impossible to sell double the wholesale when you’re constantly offering discounts. PLUS any potential recruits also should also know that they will NEVER be able to sell products themselves at double the wholesale cost if their Director is offering all these discounts…the customers will buy the discounted product.
I love these posts too. When the PTCs complain we are lying on their screeds, they never ever point to a post like this and tell us where or how we are wrong. They rarely come to these types of posts to “correct” us either.
And 20 years from now, when her kids refuse to have anything to do with her, Jamie Taylor will find out just how well the whole shame things works.
In this situation (being in MK), shaming the women for not meeting goals is abusive.
Chelsea, shame on you for thinking being abusive to other adults is good business, and Jamie, shame on you for being a horrible person.
I agree, and it makes me so mad consultants are TOLD when they’re recruited they can work part-time, and it’s God first, family second, Mary Kay third, they can just be “personal use”consultants , sell to friends & family, etc. Then, they get shamed for not doing Mary Kay all the damn time? I don’t think so! That’s not what they agreed to. And consultants don’t have ANY voice in what goal their director sets.

Sorry I meant to put this under PG’s comment Pinki!
Mary Kay Canada has removed their 2025 income disclosure statement for their website.

Found it. They updated the link.

Oh, darn. Too bad nothing on the internet ever dies!

Although, that is extremely interesting. I wonder if it’s a website glitch, or another step towards going affiliate. I’m sure if they discontinue recruiting incentives, they won’t be required to report these numbers anymore.
LOL PWNED
The income disclosures are required by Canadian law. Surely a wholesome family-run, God-loving, life-enriching company wouldn’t play fast and loose with the law, would they? snrrrrrrrrkHAHAHAHA
Oops! I linked the wrong article. Here’s the 2025 version.

So I guess now Jamie Taylor is really really tired of Chelsea not “doing million.” Time for another gift with this inspiring inscription?
Get ready for some public shaming for Priceless Chels. Another passive aggressive aggressive note?
All this recruiting, ordering and bloviating. And what is the fruit of all this labor? Consultants’ homes filled with product that will never sell, credit card balances for products purchased that will never be used, a tarnished image, strained relationships, and meaningless titles and prizes for engaging in what amounts to little more than emotional hype.
Ladies, the juice is simply not worth the squeeze.
I think we should bring back shame too! You should be ashamed that you are lying to women about this “opportunity.”
The shame comment makes my stomach churn. It reminds me of when my horrible director made everyone stand up who didn’t submit their weekly sales and recruiting numbers online and then proceed to tell us all “you all better submit them next week or you better not come into my studio again.” This was in front of a guest/potential recruit by the way! These women are awful good lord.
