Mary Kay Cosmetics just cannot seem to get this My Shop thing right. We’ve been predicting that this venture is the foray into a full-blown affiliate model, wiping out the multi-level marketing aspect and making the directors and national sales directors obsolete. The company announced a “new eCommerce experience” to consultants in September 2025. The announcement made it clear that any orders from customers through a consultant’s MK website could no longer be filled by the consultant with her inventory. (Previously, the consultant had a choice to fill the order herself or have the company fill it with their “Customer Delivery Service.”)

The company launched My Shop in December 2025, and there have been nothing but troubles. Consultants hate it.  They’re losing customers and order because of it, and it’s rough stocking inventory that you can’t even use to fulfill these orders.

Let’s take a look at more complaints!

Judy Harvey would like Mary Kay to make a change to My Shop. Please allow customers to decide if they want the order shipped by the company or by the consultant. Judy and other consultants order inventory based on their customer’s order history – and they have inventory piling up.

Natalia Travilina says the company does not care. Mary Kay does what’s best for them. They have inventory they need to move too. Kim DeCovich agrees. No one will listen.

Sara Erb says what everyone knows. My Shop takes away any incentive a consultant would have to carry inventory. If a consultant doesn’t order inventory, their upline won’t receive any commissions! They will still receive a smaller commission based on the My Shop order at least. Melodye Lemon had a consultant watch her customer place an order on her My Shop page. Once the order processed, it was assigned to a completely different consultant!

Sylvia Barritt can see the writing on the wall. She’s actively working to sell off her inventory.

Nicole Perhala loves the flexibility of My Shop. She has increased her inventory on hand after using it. Customers who want discounts will text her directly for orders. If they want fast delivery, they’ll use My Shop.

Melodye Lemon thinks that the company doesn’t really want to fix anything! Mary Robeson wants to storm the gates of corporate!!!!And Karen Brass says Ryan is setting things up to sell the company!

Kay Georgina “opted out” of the arbitration clause in the new consultant agreement. She thinks a class action lawsuit is anticipated by MK. (She’s probably correct!) Karen Brass asked AI  to tell her how to make your opt-out “legally bulletproof.”

But beware! You can’t opt out just by checking a box. You have to mail a letter.

Natalia chimes in again to mention that Mary Kay Inc. does not need consultants and directors. The company was successful for 60  years, but now has poor management and is destroying what is left.

I wonder what discussions are being had at Seminar about My Shop?

  1. To my understanding, there are units downplaying/ignoring MyShop. To them, the old system is the path to prosperity. Recruit, front-load, lather, rinse, repeat. Until consultants are also forced to use My Shop, nothing has to change.

It is my interpretation that MyShop is a legal CYA play. It offers a clear path to consultants to sell without front-loading, allowing the company to demonstrate that any front-loading is unnecessary and totally voluntary.

It is also my belief that MKC hopes MyShop will get only partial penetration, with the majority of that lucrative front-loading continuing as it always has. If someone tries to kick off a class action against MKC for encouraging front-loading, MKC can easily show that those consultants chose that path over MyShop…so shame on them. MKC can also use the opportunity to throw one or more NSDs under the bus for not promoting MyShop, or worse, unauthorized promotion of front-loading.

All this talk of a move to affiliate feels off to me. MKC is addicted to front-loading. It will be difficult to replace all that over-ordering with a wholesale move to affiliate. If a change is coming, don’t rule out a shift to modern, more efficient and less costly retail channels like Amazon, Walmart and Target. That has to be tempting.

But what do I know? I am just an audience member.

  2. The biggest red flag waving is the arbitration clause in the new agreement. But it looks like some of the consultants and directors are finally figuring it out that Mary Kay Corporate is planning some big changes that won’t benefit them. Some are even anticipating that there may be a possible class action lawsuit in the future. The security they thought they had by “owning their own business” is waning. I thought it was interesting that 30% orders don’t show up on reports. Also interesting was the comment that the company is trying to ramp up retail sales proof so that Ryan can sell the company. All of these women should be sending back what inventory they can and then sell the rest at deep discounts to what customers they still have. The time to get out is now.

  3. Our local Dallas news showed Seminar the other night. All the corporate staff interviewed touted how amazing MK is now because they offer all these great ways customers can get their products without having to have a party.

    • Customers don’t need to attend a party to get their products basically says they don’t need a consultant. The whole skincare class premise was to teach people about their skin and how the Mary Kay products can help them. I predict even more changes coming on how people can join and MKC doing away with bigger starter kit. No consultants +no inventory needed+ no directors or Nationals needed for training + a free website =
      Affiliate marketing. It’s coming.

  4. Mary Kay Corporate doesn’t even want the consultants in the building anymore! No tours or visits during Seminar is a huge slap in the face. Ryan is gearing up to sell and these ladies “contacting corporate” are simply wasting their time.

  5. Melodye Lemon thinks that the company doesn’t really want to fix anything! Mary Robeson wants to storm the gates of corporate!!!!And Karen Brass says Ryan is setting things up to sell the company!

Karen and Melodye are more likely to be correct while Mary is naive.

    • She’s not as naive as the one who suggested Corporate is cutting costs so they could give directors bigger bonuses. That one flew straight into DeLuLu Land at Warp 7.

“Storming the gates” by email is going to accomplish zilch. Doing it the old fashioned way, with torches and pitchforks, will get you arrested. Much better to listen to reason, return your inventory, and avoid the coming crapstorm all together.

      • Pop… I’d love to see an old-fashioned picket line! Can you imagine Directors & Consultants picketing at the front of Corporate Headquarters?! How that would make the evening news in a heartbeat! What fun that would be! Imagine them singing “I’ve got NO MK enthusiasm down in my heart…” HAHAHAHA!

      • I think of the lady that thinks corporate is cutting costs so they can pay higher commissions way more than I should. Bless. Her. Heart.

    • “And Karen Brass says Ryan is setting things up to sell the company!”

      (Nerd alert…proceed with caution…)

Imagine the sales pitch to the buyer of MKC…

“Just imagine…you can be the owner of a company that sells products to folks who sign up to own a company that sells products to folks who sign up to own a company that sells products to folks who sign up to own a company that…”

In computer science, this is called recursion. If not controlled, it is called infinite recursion, which ends with resource exhaustion (memory exhaustion or heap/stack collision).

Same end-game as endless-chain recruiting schemes like MLM. Resource exhaustion in market saturation (exhausted customer/recruit pool), which leads quickly to exhaustion of the credit limit of the consultants, as they can’t find anyone on whom to unload their “investment.” Not to mention exhaustion of the “patience” resource of the consultants’ F+F!

  6. CYA to keep the FTC off of their backs and to set up the company to look attractive to private equity if they need to sell fast.

Huns, Mary Kay, the company and the person, does not and never did care about you.

    • Depending on the current MKC financials, I wonder if LaCore Enterprises is waiting to swoop in?(versus a traditional private equity) And, as luck would have it, Terry LaCore is based in…wait for it…Dallas. I wonder if there have been any interactions, good or bad, over the years between the two founders?

  7. What continues to amaze me especially since December when MS launched is how many posts we see of the sales force whining and complaining that MK isn’t listening, doesn’t have their best interests at heart etc…yet they are still hanging in there for God knows what reason. Keep hope alive I guess!

And I think I’ve said this before but they should have had an inkling of what was going to happen last year when My Shop was announced i.e. no inventory required and so on. Why didn’t they stop ordering and just work on liquidating the inventory they had? oh yeah…their car payments and commissions and being nagged about production.

  8. If mk goes full retail, what on earth would happen?! Perhaps they’d have to provide genuine on-trend, quality goods, which would have them scraping the bottom of the cash can to do, and wouldn’t be overnight. Would the consultants et al finally have their eyes unequivocally opened to what the scam has been all these wasted years? What a God-send for the other MLMs if mk divests itself of victims/predators! I’d prefer a God-send for the families of the kbots but I know what seems more likely. “Oh, Lord, don’t let me be without an MLM…”

  9. I kind of feel sorry for the directors who have made this their life’s work. It has got to be so hard to “sell” the dream. The dream certainly doesn’t sound to appealing. Its all very convoluted. Im glad im not still a director. All the pathways to making money involve inventory. Why would anyone want inventory with myshop doing everything for you?
