When you are a Mary Kay Director, you’ve purchased the right for early access to new products. The latest limited edition launch is tinted lip butter!

Sara Moore hit the ground running and challenged her unit to sell 300! Directors could order these products on October 26th, but consultants were not supposed to know about them until November 1st. Star consultants and PCP participants could order these on November 10th. All other consultants had to wait til November 15th.

Julie Thomas is big mad. One of her consultants saw a SPONSORED post on Facebook from a consultant that leaked the new products early. Directors are supposed to be ethical and not pre-sell products or tell consultants about them!!! Other directors shared their thoughts. These products needed to remain secret.

Connie Streubel reached out to the consultant who placed the ad. If you’re a director you need to have integrity and follow the rules.

Tara Geraghty will report any post she sees to legal. If directors continue to break rules, she feels the company will take away their early ordering access.

Tonia Sturm hits the nail on the head with her observation. If consultants know that new product is coming in November, they may not order ANY products in October – and directors always need production. (Notice that the concern is obviously not for the consultants, but for the director and her paycheck.)

Some directors are offering a free gift with purchase – a cute little keyring cap!!!

Would anyone like to try these fabulous products out?

  1. I remember squeeze tubes of tinted lip gloss … way back in the 1960s. Went with the surfing craze. My bikini had a tiny pocket for it.

Does Mary Kay have a DeLorean, that they are resurrecting these?

  2. Let’s see… $30 “profit” when you sell 3, so they must be $10 wholesale and $20 retail for a 🤬 tube of lip gloss. They’re $4 at 5 Below.

    • You can get Colorpop, Wet n Wild and Nyx for $4. The current lip trend is matte so I’m sure glossy lip balm will be a great volume seller.

At least it’s not Lipsense (founded by a sacked MK leader) which burns your lips off due to the high alcohol content – it’s just your lips exfoliating from wax buildup quoth the peddlers. Except the lip epithelium turns over in 48 hours so there’s that.

Anyway $20 retail for a lip gloss is nuts unless it’s Fenty. And we know it’s not going to be Fenty quality. It’ll be patchy, transfer, dissolve when you eat, feather even with liner and be a general disaster. Tubes will likely arrive burst due to poor QC and Fedex’s craptastic handling. Think I’ll stick to Sephora and get Queen RhiRhi quality for the same price. Save a dollar as I’ve found Fenty at $19.

Each product launch is a cluster. Directors leaking things early, undercutting their downline, oy vey. And PT documenting it for posterity. And at times thwarting launches like in 2009. This time the call is coming from inside the house. This happens frequently as XSDs are able to keep secrets as well as a sieve holds water.
