Never Stop Dreaming, Taylor!

Written by Parsons Green

Taylor McKnight is a director in Jamie Taylor’s national area. She’s been there since the start, when Jamie flailed around for years trying to finish that area. (Jamie eventually finished when her directors ran up their credit cards to help, but last month she made less than $10k from this big fancy “business” that gives her “executive income” at the top of the pyramid!)

Taylor posted this photo of her downline at the 2019 Seminar. At the time, she had 7 directors. Only two of them are still directors.

Taylor shared a video discussing why she wanted to be an NSD in 2020. She had this lineup in March 2024. Yikes! 5 directors!

And by November 2024, she managed to have 8 directors and 1 DIQ in her first and second lines.

In March 2025, it was down to 7.

But finally….

Jamie Taylor proudly announced in July 2025 that Taylor had become her area’s first elite executive sales director with 8 first line offspring directors. This is the last career title before nsd! Taylor was the first ever Verge Area director to purchase  earn this rank.

Taylor reminded everyone in December she’s still working toward the Top Director’s Trip to Switzerland.

At the 2026 Leadership Conference Taylor stated she is only 1 out of 11 sales directors nationwide to be an elite executive sales director. To become nsd, it takes a combination of 20 first and second line directors, with all units at 30 members or more, and at least 3 of the directors being senior directors and  7 or more in premier cars or Cadillacs. So I don’t think any of these 11 are anywhere close!

Nevertheless, Taylor is continuing on with her dream. She asked for help fulfilling a 10 show week.

Unfortunately, when asked for an update she had not yet booked any shows.

Taylor McKnight is the perfect director for Mary Kay. Her quest for the nsd title will ensure she is constantly on the lookout for recruits to order inventory. She’s using her own time and money to bring profit to Mary Kay. At the end of the day, what does she get if Mary Kay were to go to an affiliate model?

  1. The little guy’s expression says it all. “Mommy, this NSD thing is a load of stinky doo-doo diapers, I’m hungry, and I’m missing Bubble Guppies. Give it up and get me home, pronto.”

  2. I don’t understand how directors are maintaining units with such high turnover rates. Is it the constant sign ups that keep them afloat? Or they’re getting lucky with just enough offsprings who are sticking around?

The churn and burn has to be exhausting. If people aren’t sticking around long then you’re back at square one every month or maybe even week. They make directorship look glamorous but your status and check is literally dependent on the actions of others. No sign ups = no money.

And I wish more IBCs asked why those who only focus on selling and not team building aren’t celebrated in the company at the same level as team builders. It’s telling. Wouldn’t you think there would be some people at the top who were amazing sellers with strong customer bases but maybe just don’t have the time to build others? Hmmm

    • “Is it the constant sign ups that keep them afloat?”

Yes. Here is a summary of the MK business plan:

“Fool your customers into thinking they are business owners so they order significantly more inventory than can ever hope to sell or use personally, then convince them to recruit others to do the same, ad infinitum.”

Ideally, they want reps to recruit their own replacements before they go stale and/or quit, and hopefully they don’t return their unsold inventory when they depart. Once a rep has a “full wagon”, they go stale, and never place another large order. Recruiting and front-loading are really the only way to move significant amounts of product. No outside sales necessary.

Churn is the key to success in MLMs like Mary Kay.

  3. “So, will you help me chase this big, slightly very scary dream?”

Why? Taylor, what do we get in return? I dont mind giving to charity to help folks in temporary need. But a charity appeal to send you to Europe? Asking folks, who most likely can’t afford a trip like this, to dig deep to fund your trip? Yuk.

You might do well to get yourself a job which affords you these luxuries without having to beg for charity from your friends. These appeals do not give off vibes of “success.” GoFundMe would be more honest…and more efficient!

    • Nothing about it says success…it screams desperation and out of touch. Like girl, don’t we all have dream vacations?! No one is giving up the money they’re saving to possibly fund their own vacation just to fund yours.

  4. The thing the strikes me the most from this article is the way the directors dress. The change to simply a directors jacket was a big mistake if MK is still looking for professionalism. The way some of these women style the jacket is hideous. Mary Kay Ash would be appalled seeing this conglomeration of “fashion” especially the sandels and flip-flops. I’m all for modernization of a professional look, but this isn’t it. Also a professional woman in an executive income job would not beg people publicly to help her with a goal of earning a trip and a new car.
