You Allowed Yourself to Be Deceived

A Mary Kay consultant tells us we’re wrong. Mary Kay isn’t that bad. It’s just a few bad people. And you were lied to because you ALLOWED yourself to be lied to.

Mary Kay is not as bad as you had imagined… It only reflects the kind of leadership you are in… Like anything under the sun, electricity can be bad cause I can kill you with that. In other ways, in can be good too, because with electricity I can now use my laptop to make a comment on this blog…hehehe Same with Mary Kay… Mary Kay is neutral… It can either be good or bad…

Yeah! I can see there are some bad practices Sales Directors and National Sales Directors that are creating this negative image… And it is Dishonesty…

I have been a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant for 4 years now.. I have friends who are Sales Directors already but I chose not to go for Directorship at this time of my life and I’ll tell you why… ?

It takes a whole lot of awareness to be a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant and pray to God that your Sales Director has Integrity in doing business with you. ?

  • You are only deceived because you allowed the person to deceive you. Ouch! Yes, truth hurts and I realized this too… If you said No, there’s nothing they can do to you. If they insist, be persistent with your No, too.
  • Your Sales Director can only suggest that you Move Up but it is still up to you if you want to move up. In my case, my Sales Director encourages me to be one of them already but I said I am not ready yet. I only violate one of Mary Kay’s philosophy that is God First, Family Second, Career Third… My baby is still 3 months old so it’s a No No for now… My SD has nothing to do but to wait for me to decide when I am ready… Good thing, she respects my decision. ?
  • Directorship journey should not be forced. If you feel it inside you that you’re not ready yet. Tell your SD honestly like what I did. Because even if you passed the DIQ Level, once you become SD, you will be having a hard time keeping up with the target unit sales…hehehe
  • Fake it till you make it… I also disagree with this quote… You cannot fake something because someone might recognize you’re faking it. It’s my experience by the way. You need to be honest with your customers and friends. Also, realize that we have this so called Money Blueprint – this will tell you how much money can you keep inside your bank account or whatever… For ordinary person, like me, my money blueprint is only for ordinary person. This will take more years of personality development inside me to get a SD income without any faking or dishonesty along the process. Because, income or earnings is directly proportional to your personality development. That’s why managers or business owners are paid high. And don’t expect right away that you can sell easily your beloved Mary Kay products. It takes time to know the product and experience the product yourself. ?
  • That’s why it is important to choose your recruiter more importantly your SD, to what unit you belong. Because in my case, I really decide to transfer to a new SD because my old SD and his unit members are hypocrite I should say…hahaha!!!
  • Why Mary Kay after all this and actually there are more… Because, at the time when I was having depression only Mary Kay gave me income that I can still eat a decent food. If I go to work, no one will hire because of my depression.. And if they did, I cannot manage to stay long with my job…

  1. “If you said No, there’s nothing they can do to you. If they insist, be persistent with your No, too.”

If everyone you recruit follows this advice, you will never make a dime!

Oh, you poor PTC. No one makes any real money in MK unless a LOT of people in their own downline say YES. Outside customer sales play little if any role in earning riches in MK!

  2. Oh my dear PT Critic… if Mary Kay is supposedly “neutral,” but you need to pray your director has integrity, choose the right recruiter and unit, resist pressure, recognize deception, and be persistent with your “no.” And if you are deceived? Apparently you “allowed” it. That’s not accountability. That’s victim-blaming with a pink bow on it.

If someone misrepresents the income, inventory, or opportunity to persuade you to join or order more, the responsibility belongs to the person doing the misleading — not the person who failed to say “no” forcefully enough.

The electricity analogy doesn’t work either. Electricity doesn’t recruit you, flatter you, appeal to your dreams, or financially reward someone for persuading you to use more of it.

When a “good opportunity” requires this many warnings just to participate safely, maybe the problem isn’t a few bad people.

Maybe it’s the system that keeps giving them room to operate.

  3. If you are new to mlm, you have no idea about how to go about “selecting” an SD. That’s not how it works. In order to do so, you’d have to quit MK, wait up to a year, and re-sign under someone else. People new to MK don’t know this either. You must have been in MK before, perhaps an SD, who lost their unit, went inactive for some reason, and decided to return at some point. Most of us here didn’t have the advantage of knowledge because SDs don’t want us to know too much before we sign up. That’s why Pink Truth exists. We provide the insider’s look at how the REAL world of MK functions (and lately not so well)!

  4. Mary Kay is not as bad as you had imagined…

    It’s worse!

It only reflects the kind of leadership you are in…

well, you hit the nail on the head. It’s the so-called Leadership which is the problem.

Like anything under the sun, electricity can be bad cause I can kill you with that. In other ways, in can be good too, because with electricity I can now use my laptop to make a comment on this blog…hehehe

    🙄

Same with Mary Kay… Mary Kay is neutral… It can either be good or bad…

Any company which functions by extracting money from it’s lower levels to enrich those higher up the chain is inherently bad.

Yeah! I can see there are some bad practices Sales Directors and National Sales Directors that are creating this negative image… And it is Dishonesty…

And what are you personally doing to combat this, Ms. PTC?

I have been a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant for 4 years now.. I have friends who are Sales Directors already but I chose not to go for Directorship at this time of my life and I’ll tell you why… ?

Oh look! Some pure unadulterated self-righteous drivel coming up.

It takes a whole lot of awareness to be a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant and pray to God that your Sales Director has Integrity in doing business with you. ?

If I’m having “to Pray” that my SD has “Integrity” that’s a huge 🚩Red Flag.🚩

I love the smell of victim-blaming in the morning. The Deceivers are never to be blamed for their own actions.

If you said No, there’s nothing they can do to you. If they insist, be persistent with your No, too.

Ma’am, these women are trained to ride rough-shod over any and every excuse or evasion. They’ve heard it before and they have script upon script to force you to comply.

Your Sales Director can only suggest that you Move Up but it is still up to you if you want to move up. In my case, my Sales Director encourages me to be one of them already but I said I am not ready yet. I only violate one of Mary Kay’s philosophy that is God First, Family Second, Career Third…

And labeled as “Not A Team Player”.

My baby is still 3 months old so it’s a No No for now… My SD has nothing to do but to wait for me to decide when I am ready… Good thing, she respects my decision. ?

The fact you are leaving question marks after statements appears to me that you don’t actually believe your words.

Directorship journey should not be forced. If you feel it inside you that you’re not ready yet. Tell your SD honestly like what I did. Because even if you passed the DIQ Level, once you become SD, you will be having a hard time keeping up with the target unit sales…hehehe

You are< I hope, not The Joker, so there's no need to constantly laugh. But you do raise a good point about how hard keeping up the ordering level is once you pass DIQ into SD.

Fake it till you make it… I also disagree with this quote… You cannot fake something because someone might recognize you’re faking it. It’s my experience by the way. You need to be honest with your customers and friends.

Not something you should be telling us, tell your up-lines since they are the ones with that mind-set.

Also, realize that we have this so called Money Blueprint – this will tell you how much money can you keep inside your bank account or whatever… For ordinary person, like me, my money blueprint is only for ordinary person.

Just leave Mary Kay and you won’t have any money worries either.

This will take more years of personality development inside me to get a SD income without any faking or dishonesty along the process.

Explain just how SDs make any money at all when Mary Kay Canada’s own figures prove differently?

Because, income or earnings is directly proportional to your personality development. That’s why managers or business owners are paid high.

No, it’s not “personality development” , it’s having real-world skills appropriate to the opportunity offered.

And don’t expect right away that you can sell easily your beloved Mary Kay products. It takes time to know the product and experience the product yourself. ?

    Another question from you.

That’s why it is important to choose your recruiter more importantly your SD, to what unit you belong. Because in my case, I really decide to transfer to a new SD because my old SD and his unit members are hypocrite I should say…hahaha!!!

    Pinkiu explained about this.

Why Mary Kay after all this and actually there are more… Because, at the time when I was having depression only Mary Kay gave me income that I can still eat a decent food. If I go to work, no one will hire because of my depression.. And if they did, I cannot manage to stay long with my job…

Stop selling your self short. There are plenty of companies out there who would hire you, depression or not. Plus you’d have health insurance to be able to access professionals and medications.

  6. I just have to know: were the terrible, unneeded question marks in this letter intentional by the writer or was it a formatting issue? Maybe the writer used an emoji that the computer changed to a question mark somehow?
It’s hard to say which is worse for me, the assinine content or the distracting, unneeded question marks.
    I really hate it. LOL.
Or as the writer would say: I really hate it. LOL. ?

  7. If this person has issues with depression so much so that they can’t keep a job, they need professional help. It sounds like her recruiter took advantage of her vulnerability and has managed to keep her in the pink fog . That’s the Mary Kay Way.

    14
    • When I read that last bit about the depression and the job issues, I wondered how much of this was negativity coming from the upline to persuade her to stick with MK. “That’s exactly why you need Mary Kay! You’ll never be able to hold a regular J.O.B. with your issues. Without Mary Kay, you will starve! STARVE, I tell you!”

  8. ” And you were lied to because you ALLOWED yourself to be lied to.”

No. You were lied to because some selfish person, who felt entitled to use your time, money, and emotions for their own benefit, chose to lie to you. The lie belongs to the liar, not the victim.

  9. Meanwhile, the very fact that you’re a consultant dictates, as a rule, that you too, PTC, have ABSOLUTELY been lied to. It’s the nature of the MK/MLM beast. Lying, be it bald-faced and/or by omission, is REQUIRED in order to successfully recruit. NO ONE would sign up if their recruiter told the truth. Lies (and your credit card) are what line the pockets of the overlords at MKC and your entire upline. If lack of transparency goes away, MK crumbles. There’s no way around it. Lying to entice potential recruits (“drive a free car, only work a few hours a week,” et al), lying to reel in potential customers (“you won a free pampering session!”), and lying to yourself (“fake it til you make it, I sold x $ this week,” ad infinitum).

So PTC, based on your own words, it would appear YOU have “allowed” YOURself to be lied to.? LOL ??..

  10. Something that worked for you, in the depths of depression, doesn’t at all make it a good thing for anyone else. And I question how long that good food money has lasted.
