Pink Truth Has No Credibility

Pink Truth would have a lot more credibility if the comments and commentators would do away with all caps (shouting), exclamation points and other over-the-top ways of getting across what should be a very simple point: stay away from Mary Kay and here is why:  followed by indisputable facts and figures with names and dates filled in.

I never see anything of real substance on these sites – just Mary Kay-trained shrieking enthusiasm, this time turned against Mary Kay Cosmetics.  No hard facts and figures and everyone is always anonymous – are these people in a witness protection program? Are the actual  IRS  documents classified?  The only Schedule C  I ever saw is from a former director  “who wishes to remain anonymous”.  Of course. Makes one think it was fabricated  to make a good story.

Where are the 1099-R and Schedule C forms? Easy to white out the parts such as address, phone, etc.,  scan and post if you really want to back up your claims; all I ever see are vague gripes about how these people were taken in by a MLM scheme and the evil directors, but nothing concrete to back it up.  I am an MBA, so I believe only numbers that I can see.  You have to keep your tax info for at least 7 yrs., so where are they?  Facts don’t lie, but people do.

Don’t get me wrong – I am not a fan of MK.  I have an obnoxious relative who is a Director, a “star”, as she never tires of telling me, making a 6-figure income.  Always, always, pimping for MK.  Go to a restaurant, anywhere, trying to recruit.  Mouth going like a sewing machine; “warm chatter”. Embarrassing.   Sells me the stuff wholesale, to make quota, no doubt. I buy it out of pity for her.  Still overpriced and not as good as Oil of Olay (hey, that’s pink, too!!).   And those god-awful cars, jewelry “prizes” and suits.

Bottom line:
do some real good and publish some facts and figures.  Start providing some of the information you now wish you had been provided, not just carping about how you were taken in because you had no “facts”.

Just a thought.

  1. “Just a thought.”

OMG, you had one! I’m so happy for you!

“I never see anything of real substance on these sites – just Mary Kay-trained shrieking enthusiasm, this time turned against Mary Kay Cosmetics.”

“These sites,” so I’m guessing you haven’t actually read this one and are just guessing at the content because it’s easy to get your sneer on that way.

Now, then, we have the contradictory sentences “The only Schedule C I ever saw is from a former director “who wishes to remain anonymous”. Of course. Makes one think it was fabricated to make a good story. [that one being you, of course.]

Where are the 1099-R and Schedule C forms? Easy to white out the parts such as address, phone, etc., scan and post if you really want to back up your claims.”

So a redacted Schedule C was a big fat fibaroonie made up to further the narrative, but it’s perfectly cromulent to post a redacted Schedule C as proof… wut? Make up your mind.

“I am an MBA, so I believe only numbers that I can see. You have to keep your tax info for at least 7 yrs., so where are they? Facts don’t lie, but people do.”

Why the hell should anyone feel obligated to doxx themselves just to satisfy one random crank on the interwebs? Does that MBA stand for “Massively Bad Attitude”? Hint – many regular contributors to this site have many letters of accreditation after their own names so that isn’t as impressive as you want it to be. You’ll have to post your diploma so we can rate your school’s program. Don’t blank out your name; we’ll have to assume it’s a forgery otherwise.

“Don’t get me wrong – I am not a fan of MK. I have an obnoxious relative who is a Director, a “star”, as she never tires of telling me, making a 6-figure income. Always, always, pimping for MK. My Polish grandmother would have had a word for you: błaznowaćka. Blowing your own money on stuff you don’t want to encourage your relative in her footling delusions of success.

If you’re so hung up on tax forms, ask her to let you have a look at all 7 years’ worth of hers.

Oh, and it hasn’t been called “Oil of Olay” since 1999, and it’s actually white now. So there.

      • I guess our celebrated author understands Polish. I’m planning to toast my downvote with a not-green beer tonight. Na zdrowie!

        • Central and Eastern European languages have such versatile insults. English is often boring in comparison.

        • Na zdrowie right back atcha! I have some Polish ancestors, though I learned that phrase from an actual friend from Poland that I met years ago. Darn, this legit has me craving some pierogies. Gotta take care of that before my self-imposed low carb eating that I intend to begin on 4/1. But until then I’ll be carb loading!

  2. Look dude, if you don’t like the way Tracy runs her site, start one of your own.

pinktruth.com traffic analysis … (the CAPS are from the traffic analysis site, so don’t get your boxers in a twist)
DOMAIN AUTHORITY = 47 GREAT (scale is 1-100)
REFERRING DOMAINS = 2,293 GOOD (websites vistors came from)
BACKLINKS = 25,449 GOOD (pages with one or more links to PT)

She would love to have the Schedule Cs and the 1099s but for some reason the directors and NSDs aren’t handing them over. They were told by MK corporate to lock down their unit websites over a decade ago, so that source of data vanished. MK has also censored the data they provide about NSD income, leaving off the low performers to keep the illusion going.

It was fun while it lasted – look dude, I have data for you

If you had read PT properly, you would find that it is rarely us the commentators who are abusing all caps or multiple exclamation marks. It is nearly always when we are showing screen-shots of MK directors and other sources related to Mary Kay Wagner Rogers Eckman Weaver Louis Miller Hallenbeck Ash’s company.
When we as the commentariat use them it is either in mockery or due to the limitations of the software in the comment section.

Mary Kay Wagner Rogers Eckman Weaver Louis Miller Hallenbeck Ash’s company doesn’t want that information readily available. I’m sure it’s not a mystery why this happens.

In fact it’s only places like Canada where it is the law that the income disclosure statement is legally required to be published that you can see the “truth” of the matter.

    This is 2019’s.

    https://i.redd.it/7p73s2hz0bi81.jpg Here’s 2020’s.

It only talks about commissions, i.e. what the BC makes from her downline. There is nothing about what a person makes from their own sales because MK doesn’t care about that. The company made it’s money on their products as soon as it was out of the door. This makes getting hold of real earnings very difficult if the individual doesn’t keep accurate records of their incoming and outgoing money. Which is something that is actively discouraged in order to maintain the illusion of making a profit.

Where are the 1099-R and Schedule C forms? Easy to white out the parts such as address, phone, etc., scan and post if you really want to back up your claims; all I ever see are vague gripes about how these people were taken in by a MLM scheme and the evil directors, but nothing concrete to back it up.

You said earlier that you didn’t believe the Schedule C form that was redacted, so why are you now wanting to see them? The reason we don’t publish them is due to the fact that no-one sends us them. Unless, you think we should start a side hustle in B&E.

I am an MBA, so I believe only numbers that I can see. You have to keep your tax info for at least 7 yrs., so where are they? Facts don’t lie, but people do.

Appeal to Authority.. False Start..10 yards penalty.🏈

We can’t publish things we don’t have. So unless, one of the commentators here or one of the directors or IBCs sends us the information, we have no way to publish it. It’s a bit of a Catch 22.

Don’t get me wrong – I am not a fan of MK. I have an obnoxious relative who is a Director, a “star”, as she never tires of telling me, making a 6-figure income. Always, always, pimping for MK. If you truly felt that way about Mary Kay Wagner Rogers Eckman Weaver Louis Miller Hallenbeck Ash’s company, stop supporting your family member through “pity purchases”. It only encourages her in her unrealistic endeavours.

Sit down with her and try to make head and tails of her finances with your MBA. Do her a favour and show her where her money is going. Maybe you can then persuade her to send us her Schedule C and we cab highlight that as an example of how much money is really floating in the MKverse.

Bottom line: do some real good and publish some facts and figures. Start providing some of the information you now wish you had been provided, not just carping about how you were taken in because you had no “facts”.

I’ve already explained how difficult it is to get the “facts”. MK Corp doesn’t want that information disseminated because the whole house of cards would fall if people could see behind the curtain to the wizard.

    Just a thought.

That’s nice, hope it didn’t get lonely. If you really feel strongly about our lack of “facts”, there’s a whole internet out there for you to make your own website showing the information we are lacking. Good Luck.

      • I LIVE for DA’s Friday comments. All the snark, all the class. And then this:

        “Just a thought.

That’s nice, hope it didn’t get lonely.”

        BAHAHAHAHAH

          • Personally I love that as a Canadian (at least I think, based on your past comments), you are NOT overly apologetic when it comes to telling the MLM huns how it is.

  4. Articles with Facts and Figures (in addition to Destiny’s link to Canada’s required income disclosure):

https://www.pinktruth.com/2023/02/20/lynnea-tate-area-top-sales-directors/ (This one’s nice because it’s straight from the horse’s mouth/NSD newsletter with live numbers for the previous month.)

    https://www.pinktruth.com/2023/01/31/sales-directors-make-minimum-wage/

https://www.pinktruth.com/2022/03/15/mary-kay-u-s-keeps-losing-directors/ (Maybe Mary Kay Corporate isn’t as successful as they claim…)

https://www.pinktruth.com/2023/02/27/bankruptcy-attempt-by-mary-kay-nsd-mia-mason-porter/ (I like this one since you can see from the bankruptcy filing that this NATIONAL SALES DIRECTOR is netting less than $84,000/year. Tippy top of the pyramid, still not cracking 6 figures.) And yes, I used caps. Not because I’m yelling, but because I can’t figure out how to make things bold in the comment section.

Want to know how I discovered all these ultra-hidden gems that escaped OP’s notice? Clicked on the “Numbers” tag in one of the articles about income. Tracy makes it so hard for us! /s

A 1099 from Mary Kay is nearly useless for proving whether or not a person is making money. All it lists is how much product you’ve ordered, gross commissions (excluding ALL expenses incurred by the consultant/director), and the value of all prizes earned that year (which is *gasp* taxed as income).

  5. “Where are the 1099-R and Schedule C forms?”— Did you mean 1099-Misc? I think R means retirement income.

Have you considered that a 1099-Misc would basically only show how much a consultant makes from pyramid scheming? It would show endless-chain recruiting commissions paid out by Mary Kay Inc.. Why would I want to know how much, or how little a scammer makes? Should I feel more impressed and comforted if a con artist can prove they’re a successful one?

As for the Schedule C, if there is not a detailed breakdown of profit from retails sales to non-affiliate customers, it’s also pointless. Here again, I’m not interested in knowing how much a pyramid schemer profits off of other duped recruits. If the MLMer is a legit product retailer, I’d want to know her net profit/loss specifically from product sales. Because isn’t that the business they are selling to consultants? The MK Cosmetics Sales Force.

I’m not an accountant, but doesn’t all income, 1099’s and sales receipts, go on line 1, under Income? The IRS says, “Line1 Enter gross receipts from your trade or business. Be sure to check any Forms 1099 you received for business income that must be reported on this line.” That says to me that recruitment commissions and retail sales are all combined for purposes of the Schedule C.

I’m really quite surprised, since you’re a person of numbers, you didn’t mention the breakdown of those “sales” details to prove legitimacy of the apparent product retailing business. These are things I’d want to know.

“I buy it out of pity for her.”— Means you help support this pyramid scheme. You’re all over the place. First you hate them, and then you support them. That doesn’t seem so black and white to me.

  6. No facts or figures? Tracy has published plenty of articles on this site that break down the wretched Mary Kay math. She is a forensic accountant, after all. I’ve done a few analyses myself, in my comments. But not every article and comment can be so oriented, or people would lose interest. Hey, I love math myself, but I know I’m in the minority. I’ve seen plenty of glassy-eyrd stares when I wax poetic on how cool it is that imaginary numbers can carry the phase information in signal analysis.

    But here, have a look:

    https://www.pinktruth.com/2020/03/23/mary-kay-nsd-earnings/

    https://www.pinktruth.com/2021/06/22/how-much-do-mary-kay-nsds-make/

You want to know how I found those articles? I did a Google search for “mary kay nsd income” (no caps required) and those were the first two hits.

I can’t say I think much of your MBA-enhanced reseaech skills.

  7. I can’t respect someone who takes a cursory glance at the site and throws out criticisms, which are nearly 100% wrong, apparent to anyone who has read more than a few of the “Mary Kay Facts” plainly visible to anyone at the top of the page.

    10
    • “I never see anything of real substance on these sites.”

The writer clearly created a mental stereotype and shoved Pink Truth into it. That’s a pretty rickety soapbox to stand on.

  8. “stay away from Mary Kay and here is why: followed by indisputable facts and figures with names and dates filled in”

Bro, do you even Pink Truth? Hundreds of posts here with legit facts and figures, feel free to actually look for them.

Also, isn’t the proper phrase “I have an MBA” rather than “I am an MBA”? I only have a measly B.A. so I don’t really know.

    15
    • “I am an MBA” is correct, in much the same way as “I am an M.D.”. There is some discussion as to whether it should be ‘an’ MBA or ‘a’ MBA, but either way, one can be an/a MBA.

      • Thank you for clarifying! I’ve wondered that.

Now, if we could only stop Gloria Mayfield Banks from using her honorary doctorate to refer to herself as a “Doctor”…

        • And self-proclaimed Apostle Dr. Larinda King. Who is currently studying for her doctor of Theology.

          • Oh “Dr.” King comes across as sociopathic, narcissistic, and possibly bat s%$t crazy to boot. Studying for her doctorate of theology…countdown to new “prosperity gospel” cult in 3…2..1…

  9. In honor of the new Dungeons and Dragons movie coming out, I give your MBA a +1 for an impressive title.

MBAs are a dime a dozen. Just because you have one doesn’t mean you are a financial-business guru.
