Why is Linda Vaguebooking?

Written by Parsons Green

Retired national sales director Linda Toupin has been featured on the front page of Pink Truth many times over the last 19 years:

Linda’s daughter Katie joined her team before she retired. Linda could then place all of her consultants underneath Katie. Katie has been a million dollar director in all three years since Linda retired. It is widely known that Linda and her support staff still run the unit. I’m not sure what the financial arrangement is, but Katie once had a GoFundMe to fund a potential album.

Early in July, Linda posted multiple times on Facebook, referencing her time in Mary Kay. Linda thinks recruitment is the highest form of flattery.

She refers folks to her IT person Curtis for help with day to day tasks.

Be intentional on how you work your business. If you have items of your to do list that bug you, do NOT work your business those days. You may have an angry moment with a consultant (that you’re trying to get to order order order)

Linda posted about how the prizes, gifts and cars in Mary Kay can be used to inspire customers to join your team. She reminds everyone how valuable the jewelry is. Do not forget to add them to your will and insurance policy.

She learned from an early age competing in 4H Events that prizes and trinkets (no matter how cheap) are great motivators when you are trying to meet a goal.

The face to face connection at a kitchen table cannot be duplicated. Aim to pour into as many people as possible.

And finally, Linda posts that woman will always need skincare and makeup. Girls are born daily, so there will always be customers. Offer the customers YOU. And then Linda slips and says “I have customers and team members from 43 years ago because I chose to invest in relationships”. If she’s retired, why does she still have customers and a team? I’m sure this was a typo? Or was it?

This flurry of activity is making me wonder if Linda/Katie failed to hit the million dollar market this year, and she’s setting Katie up for a comeback year. Hopefully she can take time away from her cosplaying as country singer Candi Jenkins.

  1. Pretty sure Linda is double-dipping. She gets her NSD retirement checks AND the commissions/bonuses from her old downline. My guess is Katie is a director “in name only”, and her mother pays her a little something to appear at events and meetings to keep up appearances.

Linda learned all this manipulation so well, she’s milking her downline and MKC at the same time! All with the simple move of convincing her daughter to pretend to take over her old unit.

Is she clever? Yes. Honest? Not a chance.

    • And what’s bad is Pam Shaw is likely doing that now and Diane mentiply also whose daughter came out from under a rock when she was close to retirement. We’ll have 10 years of this before corporate decides to do something.

      • And several more NSDs will likely do the same.

Is it fair to the others? Well, no.

But do I blame them? No, not really. They put YEARS into the Company, and MONEY into its coffers. So, let’s keep the money in the family, right? “Building a legacy.”

Lurkers: It’s not the “level playing field” they like to crow about. God First, Sisterhood, the Golden Rule, and Go-Give…all sound very nice. But, in the end…

  2. Easy to have a no sexy time June when you’re not married *eye roll so hard*

    LISTEN LINDA

You are wrong. About it all. You’re cheating the system with your daughter, and you’re hurting lots of people who actually want the number 1 spot. I honestly have no idea how you sleep at night. Somehow you’ve convinced yourself that what you’re doing is ok. Go look Heather Daniel Kent in the eyeballs and tell her how to beat you/katie. How does anyone? More faces? Is she making the wrong choices?

Is Katie where she is today because of the choices she has made or the choices she’s allowed others to make for her? I guess it only works backwards for you.

I hope you read this and realize you’re not the hero you think you are. You’re in sin, and I do believe that’s important to you. Repent. Fix it. Retire.

Got to wonder if Careless Casie has taken this advice to heart!

  4. Katie/Candi did not hit the million dollar mark this year. She was still number one for her Seminar and number five or six for the nation.

    • And be sure to add that jewelry to your 1040. If you don’t, then the IRS will flag your return for an audit because the jewelry will appear as taxable income on the 1099 MK corporate will send to you. The cars aren’t free, either, but directors don’t want you to know that.

    • I am tickled pink over this news! No million dollar directors in the now-defunct Ruby Seminar! Max 4-5 in the company! That plus a dwindling 122 nationals means that the end truly is near.

  5. I find Linda’s “hanging on” pathetic. I understand the financial decisions behind it all, but pimping your daughter out to the MK world is not cool. Linda- from one mom to another- go let your daughter be who she wants to be. Let her fail and learn to pick herself back up again. You are doing her no favors by this charade. Everyone sees who’s behind the curtain… and corporate doesn’t have the spine to deal with it.

Linda- go get a life… one that’s not associated with MK- find happiness elsewhere, it can be found and it can be rewarding.

Katie- go do what you want to do… wherever that leads you. You are a grown woman- you don’t have to do what Mommy says. Time to be free.

    Just my 2 cents.
