Somer’s 2027 Seminar Year

Written by Parsons Green

Mary Kay national sales director Somer Fortenberry came home from seminar with a bold goal. She would like to have 20 new directors this seminar year. If you debut as a director in Somer’s area by January, you can come with her to Leadership Conference in Phoenix.

Somer comes from a Mary Kay family. Her mother-in-law is a retired nsd (Pat Fortenberry) and her sister-in-law is currently an nsd (Pam Fortenberry Slate). In 2021, one of Somer’s top directors quit, and called her out for cheating to get her nsd title. But that’s in the past (LOL) and all that matters is Somer’s current lineup.

To be in a “Unit Club,” you need at least $300k in retail value of orders from your unit. Don’t let the word “sales” confuse you. None of that has to be sold. It only has to be ordered by consultants. So consultants spent at least $150k (wholesale cost) on products and here are the top directors in Somer’s area.

  • $500,000 Heather McKinney
  • $450,000 Adrienne Hollifield
  • $400,000 Rachel Naylor
  • $350,000 Chrissie Batts, Gina Wood, Jennifer Singleton
  • $300,000 Gabby Jones, Cassandra Hartke, Becca Tilley

To make it to the top director trip, you have to hit $650k retail, so none of Somer’s directors will be attending the trip.

Making it to a “unit club” is a big achievement in Mary Kay. So with totals like these, these directors must be killing it at their parties right?

Here are two of Rachel Naylor’s most recent parties.

Your eyes do not deceive you. One party with $50 in sales and one with less than $100 in sales. How do we pretend that this is really a business when Rachel can’t even make minimum wage for the work?

Sadly, Rachel’s not the only one having trouble holding parties with lots of sales. Here are some of the other members of Somer’s downline. Tammy Cononie had a bingo party with 30 guests and $200 in sales (this is a whopping $6.67 per person!!!!) Jilliane Banks had 9 people and $89 sold, so she’s doing better at almost $10 per person!

Somer is currently running a challenge in her area for both directors and consultants based on teams of five. Each winning director and consultant from the winning team earns $50. If you are one of the top ten consultants, you receive a special prize. The top five director winners will also receive a DAY TRIP WITH SOMER! The catch is they have to have $10,000 minimum production in August.

Sure, 50 bucks is 50 bucks. But how do these nsds think a little contest like this is really going to encourage their units to order more?

  1. I’m not religious in any way but even I’m offended by the use of faith as a manipulation tool. Her tactics are egregious. Shame on this grifter.
