Eileen Collins is BACK!
Written by Parsons Green
Eileen Collins posted after a long absence in one of the Facebook groups. Eileen has been featured on the front page before, and is yet another consultant who has circled through DIQ and Mary Kay directorship and is now back to being a consultant. She seems to work hard, and yet she can’t keep up with the rat race of Mary Kay enough to be a director.

Since we last checked in with Eileen, she had been working a full time job with the state of Florida. Unfortunately, she had been there five months and was too chicken to share her business with any coworkers. Please make a list of anyone you’re too chicken to talk to! That will become your Chicken List. Work through your chicken list and things will change.

Eileen then shared she is a victim’s advocate for victims of violent crimes. She loves helping them and providing resources to them. She’s gained seven new customers. (Hopefully these are all coworkers and not any of her clients!) She spent her day having a party and an open house at her club house. She wanted to go to Nashville as a DIQ! Since she lost her directorship, she’s lost more than half of her team. But please join her team and help her with the work!

Eileen cautions new consultants that their friends and family may not support your Mary Kay Business. Her sister, mom, and best friends certainly don’t! KEEP GOING. Strangers are the lifeblood to success. Even Jesus’s siblings didn’t believe in HIM.

After a year at this new job, she asked a co worker if they knew she sold Mary Kay. Allegedly, they said no and asked for samples for her and her sister!!! If only Eileen had asked earlier.

Eileen shared on New Year’s Eve that she hoped to be a DIQ soon.

Then in January, she said she was trying to finish DIQ, so after shopping and lunch with her daughter, she sat in the car and worked while her daughter and a friend went to a movie. Was this wishful thinking, or was she truly in DIQ and close to finishing?
Sadly Eileen’s trusty sample basket broke but she quickly rebounded and got a replacement.

And finally, Eileen heard from a friend in another country (a poor one). Her friend is struggling to live day to to day. The friend allegedly told her that they don’t have income opportunities in their country like Mary Kay. If he could do Mary Kay there, he would. He wanted Eileen to know – if you aren’t doing Mary Kay for yourself please do it for those of us who can’t. Eileen implores everyone to work their Mary Kay business – even if it’s just for 15 minutes. She called to check on a customer and got a booking.

Eileen never posted an update on completing DIQ, but Mary Kay tells us she’s still a consultant.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like Eileen was able to attend seminar. But she and her basket will keep plodding along – offering this glamorous and lucrative opportunity by anyone who stops to listen.

I read through this a couple times, and she mentions “bookings” and “new customers”, but no mention of actual sales or new recruits. Does she really consider the recipients of free samples to be “new customers”?
All those words, and no evidence of any business cash flow, other than what she is spending. Yikes!
“It’s delicious for your skin” is giving me serious Hannibal Lecter vibes.
“Eileen then shared she is a victim’s advocate for victims of violent crimes.” Ohhhh my Goooooooood… she better not be waving her handbasket from hell in their faces. How much attention is she really giving her clients when she’s hell-bent on making director, which, as countless people here have confirmed, is as much time and hassle as a full-time job? Florida has a lot of vulnerable populations – Black, Latino, LGBTQ+, women, the elderly – and it’s a state that has not always been on the side of the angels in the matter of victim’s rights. Those people deserve an advocate who’s got their full attention on them.
It’s bad enough that she begrudges spending time with her daughter, and it sounds like even that was transactional: taking her to the bookstore and stuff in exchange for playing Mommy’s Little Helper at the party. She knows Mommy needs to work to finish DIQ. And now she also knows that DIQ is more important than her. Congratulations. You’ve discovered the Colonel’s Secret Recipe for raising a teen who wants nothing to do with you. I hope she’s got plenty of stable adults and role models in her life who can help her through the throes of adolescence.
Because she can’t talk to her mom about them; she’s too busy inventing things like her pal Po Verty from the village of Penuria, in the country of Flatbrokeistan. He speaks English like Sir Patrick Stewart despite never having been to school, and his dreams will be fulfilled by some rando who must have donated some expired sheet masks to his village once.
That one’s just eyeroll-inducing and harmless, on par with the pink pablum parceled periodically by the huns in posts designed to tug at the heartstrings, not WTAF like the fanfiction that everyone in ‘Murica has everything they need and lives comfortably. Either she’s outsourced her thinking to some glitched-up server in Delululand or she’s wilfully blind to the fact that poverty is a huge problem and that homelessness and poverty are rife outside her carefully curated upper middle class White WASP bubble. Even in Florida.
Anyway, the way to make people feel Irritated and Invaded is to call/text them at random and be all like “whatcha doing? Care to buy stuff or hold a party to advance this pipe dream I have?” The way you make people feel Important is to give them your full attention while interacting with them, listening to what they say, treating them with respect, and being kind and helpful. Like I hope hope hope you’re doing with your clients.
BTW, most people, upon encountering a road full of roadblocks, accidents, and closures, have sense enough to either turn around or take an alternate route rather than ruin their car and drive blindly into the giant sinkhole the ROAD CLOSED sign was blocking. We Pennsylvanians don’t have a choice, though.
Handbasket from hell. LOL
Bugging me to buy mediocre, overpriced skincare and cosmetics does not “make me feel important”.
Automatically giving out samples of Timewise Repair without asking about the potential customer’s skin is simply trying to sell the most expensive skincare set without caring what type of skin the customer has. Did she even ask? If she is supposed to be a professional skincare/ beauty consultant she should give out samples that match up with the person’s skin type. How old are these women? Do they need the added anti-aging ingredients? Is their skin dry or oily or maybe sensitive? Simply giving everyone Timewise Repair says “ I don’t know anything about skincare, but try this really expensive set, you’ll love it!” In her own words, it delicious.
Sorry for the typo, “it’s delicious”
The part about getting all the new coworkers to be on her team pissed me off as both a taxpayer and elected official. She needs to be fired. Those people are there to do valuable work and you’re viewing them as targets.
That jumped out at me as well. I recently retired as a manager in an agency within the State of Florida. There was a clear “no solicitation” policy in my agency, which was strictly enforced. I’m sure it is the same with her agency. Had she been soliciting co-workers in my agency, she would probably have gotten a warning to knock it off and thereafter would have had increasingly elevated disciplinary action up to termination if she’d kept it up. If she was soliciting clients (in her case, the crime victims she’s there to serve), she’d likely have just been fired. Talk about a conflict of interest!
As a taxpayer and someone who works government-adjacent, agree. This is harassment for the employees and if she’s pitching to clients/patients that’s an instant fireable offense, especially since she’s supposed to be helping vulnerable and distressed people.
Also not impressed either her snotty comments about her family and friends “not supporting her.” I bet she’s pestered them so much they pretend they’re not home every time she knocks on their doors. I don’t blame them.
I haven’t checked the HR page on my employer’s intranet but I think it’s safe to say that at minimum, pushing your MLM to employees or customers is frowned upon. There are even restrictions on activities such as kids’ fundraisers or selling Girl Scout cookies. Can’t do it through email, people used to have a little flyer pinned to the board in their office or workstation but now that we’re an open office environment I don’t believe that’s applicable anymore.
New recruiting pitch: “Join my Mary Kay team so you too can take your daughter to lunch and shopping, but work through the movie you paid for! Aren’t you EXCITED?!”
